Each year he works with over 80 corporations, 40 partnerships and as many as 750 individuals with all their tax and accounting needs. For businesses he offers full payroll services, quarterly reports, calculates withholding deposits and writes up monthly and quarterly financial statements. He works with construction companies with all their banking and bonding needs and does monthly tax returns and annual audits for several local nonprofit gambling entities. For individuals he is available to

answer all your tax questions and file your return all the while giving each individual the attention to detail they deserve. His many years of experience can help you answer your tax questions and accounting needs. Both he and his wife of 32 years consider the small-town flavor that Mora has to offer fits their life style and Jere loves being able to meet his neighbors and be a part of the community. Jere earned his accounting degree while attending Bemidji State, graduating from there in 1981. He passed his CPA exam and has been working as an accountant ever since. Jere loves the flexibility of owning his own business. When the couple’s
children were growing up, it meant that he could take some time off during the day if he needed to attend one of the children’s school activities. He’s always loved working with numbers so the accounting field has been just right for him. “It’s like putting a puzzle together,” he says. When he is able to put all the numbers together and come up with the answer for the particular situation it’s a very rewarding experience. Plus he loves the personal aspect of getting to know the people he works with. The small-town, rural flavor of Kanabec County has been a perfect fit for Jere and his family. for Jere for the past seven years and will help you schedule an appointment for your accounting needs. Bartz Accounting is open Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and during the busy tax season Jere will schedule evening hours to make sure your taxes are filed on time. Bartz Accounting is a small-town business dedicated to providing confidentiality and accurate reporting and accounting whether you’re filing your personal taxes, own a small business or are a large corporation. Give him a call and have him do the number crunching for you. It’s what he loves to do and what he does best.

THE SERVICE EXPERIENCE YOU CAN COUNT ON!
MORA AUTO SERVICE FOREIGN • DOMESTIC • EUROPEAN DIAGNOSTIC & REPAIRS including BMW, VW, Volvo, Saab & More Dave Peterson
Family Owned & Operated
• Four years experience as an auto technician • Certified in ASE’s & GM • Five Years experience as a tow operator
Mora Auto Service is a family-run auto repair center, currently located on Union Street in Mora. The auto center will relocate in late November to its new location: the former Nosbusch Auction House at 1381 King Road, nine miles south of Mora off of State Highway 65.
Owner – Technician
Dave and his wife Tanya have built Mora Auto Service for the last three and a half years based on Christian morals, integrity and the standard that all customers’ cars are treated as if they would treat their grandparent’s vehicles.

A certified NAPA Auto Care Center, the shop specializes in diagnostic and repair work for domestic and European vehicles including diesel engines. The new location will provide customers with the same quality service while featuring convenient access off and on the highway, and will eventually expand from three to six service bays. Dave and Tanya Peterson opened Mora Auto Service at the Union Street location on March 5, 2012. “Tanya and I decided to make a job for ourselves,” Dave said. “A friend of ours was a brand-new rookie mechanic, who helped with the business for the first several months. We bought him out, and he moved on to a dealership. He helped the business get started, and we helped him get a start too.” “When we first started, it was just Dave and me,” Tanya said. “I’d go out and help him, and picked up a wrench. I learned to do oil changes, disc brakes, and hub assemblies.” “Tanya handles the business end, and deals more and more with the customers,” said Dave. “But she can step in and do quite a bit of my job.”
Purchasing a used car? We will do a vehicle inspection.

mily Dave began his automotive t i i att Dunwoody D d Institute. I tit t “Through h training the years I saw Tanya, my mom, a classmate, and other people get taken advantage of with auto repairs. This gave me the standards I have today. Everyone deserves to be educated about what’s being done with their vehicle. We complete an inspection and an estimate first, then we don’t start any work until the customer approves it. If you don’t understand what’s going on, you shouldn’t be expected to pay for it.” Dave and Tanya’s family values are part of their business approach. “We’re building the business on Christian morals and integrity,” Dave said. “We make sure things are right between us and the customers. We’re planning to put in a comfortable place for them to relax and wait. And we’re kid-friendly. We’re planning to put in a playground for kids to play in while the family car is being repaired.” Dave said that Mora Auto Center plans to hire additional staff. “Because of this move and our additional capability, we’re definitely looking at adding a qualified mechanic or two,” he said. “Interested applicants should call us at 320-679-4369.” “We do our work well. We have one of the area’s lowest rates of customers coming back to have work redone. I pride myself on that. We know our work is done right.”

Menagerie of Renowned Artists
M.O.M.’s Place Antiques, Collectibles Home Decór & More
Over 200 Local Artists & Crafters Made Of MORA (Menagerie Of Renowned Artists) is an arts and crafts shop located in downtown Mora. It features unique handcrafted gifts, home and cabin decor, glassware, pottery, art, woodworking, jewelry, textiles, and sundries – all produced by local artisans. Co-owner Jody Anderson came up with the “Menagerie Of Renowned Artists” acronym, which truly epitomizes the spirit of the shop. “We try to stay local as much as we can,” she said. “Made Of MORA carries items created within 50 miles of Mora. We started out with 12 consigners, and now have more than 200.” Located within Made Of MORA is M.O.M.’s Place (Made Of MORA’s Place), a specialty shop offering collectables, antiques, unique and hard-to-find items, Swedish treats, sewing supplies, notions, furniture, and vintage clothing. M.O.M.’s Place also offers sewing machine repair, handmade greeting cards, and gift certificates. Jody and husband Michael opened the business in early 2009 in an empty building that previously had housed a bicycle shop. Fears that the space would be too big for their needs were soon unfounded, and word got around about their unique array of merchandise. Jody and Michael continue to find new ways to meet their customers’ needs. “We have visitors year-round from all over the world, including during the Mora Classic Series events.” said Jody. “And as of a year ago, we are affiliates of the K-Bid online auction service. Michael is a licensed and bonded auctioneer.” Added to the mix a selection of gourmet chocolates, imported Swedish sweets, and by-the-scoop ice cream. For a unique and memorable shopping experience, and an assortment of handpicked treasures and handcrafted gifts, visit Made Of MORA/M.O.M’s Place.

Mora Chevrolet Buick provides quality General Motors service to East Central Minnesota and West Central Wisconsin. Conveniently located in Mora, the dealership offers new and select pre-owned cars, as well as quality service and parts departments. Mark Antonson has been a sales professional with Mora Chevrolet Buick for a little more than a year. “I bought m most of my cars here over the years, sso I've had a good prior relattionship with the dealership - I’m a satisfied customer.” “We try to make car buying easy for our customers, with a no-pressure approach,” Antonson said. “We try to be as transparent with our customers as
possible. For example, our used vehicles go through the shop for a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation, to find what needs to be made right before it’s put out on the lot. I like being able to show the service record for a used car to a customer, or to find out what warranties may still be available. Also, to tell a customer if there’s a rebate available on a new car purchase.” Antonson believes that Mora Chevrolet Buick builds relationships with customers that keeps them coming back. “In the short time that I've been here I've been fortunate to have repeat customers: their life needs have changed, and they're in the market for a different vehicle. It always feels good when I can help a young family with small
kids get into a car that fits their budget and gives them safe travels. We will do what we can to get a customer into a vehicle that meets their needs and their budget.” “We strive to take care of the customer after the sale as well. I’ve had people from Hibbing, Stillwater, Wisconsin, and other places who make the trip to shop here. And it’s more than just price that brings them here; it's because we work to build a genuine relationship with a customer.” You can reach Mark Antonson at 320-364-1418. state-of-the-art facility in Mora, Fore Chiropractic provides top-of-the-line chiropractic care to patients of all ages and addressing a range of physical conditions. Chiropractic care isn’t just for those with headaches or back pain, according to Dr. Jenna, it’s for everybody. Chiropractic care keeps your joints moving and reduces interference with your nervous system, helping your body function at its full potential. Dr. Jenna’s chiropractic journey began when she was 2 months old. A colicky baby, she didn’t respond to her doctor’s suggested treatments, but after her mother brought her for a couple of adjustments at the chiropractor, the colic was gone. After a similar experience with ear infections, Jenna’s mother made sure chiropractic care was a regular part of the family lifestyle. By her junior year at Pine City High School, Jenna knew she wanted to be a chiropractor. Early awareness of the efficacy of chiropractic care with infants, being raised around younger children, and working with children through college led Dr. Jenna to her two professional specialties: chiropractic pediatrics and prenatal care. Parents who bring their children to Dr. Jenna say that she has “a way with kids.” She sees children with a range of presenting conditions including ear infections, colic, digestive issues, bed wetting, asthma, and allergies. She is encouraged by how quickly infants and children respond to chiropractic treatment. With about half of expectant mothers experiencing low back pain, chiropractic care can do much to relieve and prevent that and other discomfort experienced during pregnancy. Moving the joints and aligning the pelvis helps ensure an easier and safer delivery. Dr. Jenna wants to be your partner for a healthy pregnancy. While pediatrics and prenatal care are her specialties, Dr. Jenna also treats patients with headaches, neck and back pain, vertigo, sports injuries, and much more.

Holiday Brunch at St. Clare Living Community St. Clare’s hosted a merry holiday brunch for residents, families and staff on Sunday, Dec. 13. The festive occasion was attended by 125 people and the joy of the holiday season filled the air with family conversation, Christmas carols and memories of Christmas events of long ago. St. Clare’s provided the turkey, potatoes, cranberry sauce and the beverages. All attendees were invited to bring a family favorite side dish or dessert to share that would remind all those attending of Christmas at home. This invitation resulted in over 45 different dishes that ranged from casseroles, hot dish delights, home-made pickle dishes, and a delightful memory maker: home-made warm rice pudding! Desserts were plentiful and varied from cakes, stollen and cookies. A real hit were the smile producing snowmen cookies that caused residents and grandchildren alike to explore a means to remove Frosty’s hat before munching on the delightful chocolate cookie. Everyone enjoyed the choices provided by the food buffet and desserts were tested and tasted again by everyone. Each participating family was asked to share a family time-honored holiday recipe and over 30 were submitted. We wish to thank all family members who participated in food preparation and developing the recipes for all of us to share. St. Clare’s nutritional services department will take the recipes and incorporate them in the coming months to resident’s menus to remind us all again of the wonderful holiday spirit and family connections we all shared as part of this joyful season. St. Clare’s sends a huge thank you to all their staff for their dedication and hard work in providing this delightful holiday event and we hope to make this an annual tradition here at St. Clare’s.

SNG Services Gunsmithing & Tool Sharpening
SNG Services is a gunsmith service, licensed firearms dealer, and full-service tool sharpening shop located just south of Mora, Minnesota. Owned and operated by Kanabec County resident Shawn Paul, SNG Services is a local company with a nationwide footprint. One of a few full-time gunsmiths in Minnesota, Paul has worked in gunsmithing since the 1980s. He likens the workings of a firearm to those of a vehicle. You bring your car to a professional mechanic when the transmission needs to be rebuilt, he says; and when a firearm needs service or repair, you should seek out the same level of care and expertise. As an experienced firearms mechanic with 30 years’ experience, Paul provides a level of excellence that can’t be found many other places.
SNG Services • Repair and customization of firearms • Sale of new and used firearms
Paul has a nationwide reputation, and is often consulted by firearms professionals across the country to fix and solve problems. He raised his family in the Mora area, however, and is committed to serving the community long-term. He treats customers as friends, and shows the same care for their firearms that he does for his own. Paul values his reputation and guarantees his work, believing that “if it can’t be done right it shouldn’t be done at all.” SNG Services also provides tool-sharpening services. From drill bits to lawnmower blades to scissors and knives, Paul can hone just about anything with a blade. “I can sharpen everything but your wit!” he laughs.
• Consignment sales • Insurance appraisalss • Sporting goods • Ammo sales • Hunting equipment and accessories • Large in-shop inventory
If you own a gun that hasn’t been fired in a while or needs repair, bring it to SNG Services for a full cleaning, inspection, and test fire.
• Firearms transfers • Pre- and post-season cleanings and safety checks • Full line of sharpening services for home & commercial users • All work guaranteed

“Our mission is to enhance the life of those we serve.” Assisted Living Long Term Care & Rehab Unit St. Clare Living Community of Mora is a nonprofit, faith-based provider of skilled nursing care and therapy services. Our mission is to witness to God’s love by providing compassionate, quality care with special concern for the underserved and those in need. Our motto is to enhance the lives of those we serve. Part of the Benedictine Health System, we offer comprehensive medical and rehabilitative services for both the long-term resident looking to make this a home, as well as shorter-stay residents who need additional services after a recent hospital stay or illness. Every effort is made by staff to help residents maintain their independence while living in a secure facility where help is available when needed. Discharge planning begins upon the day of admission, and 85 percent of those admitted are discharged back to their homes. St. Clare’s Assisted Living is a 35 unit facility, staffed 24 hours a day with an RN and LPN on staff Mondays through Fridays. Apartments are one- and two-bedroom units, fully equipped with a full kitchen, a living/dining area, and a bathroom. Each apartment has its own patio and gardening area. Services include medication management, showering assistance, help arranging and accessing appointments, a monthly wellness clinic, weekly lab draws, close working relationships with physicians, daily activities, weekly shopping trips, and monthly birthday celebrations. St. Clare’s Skilled Nursing Services offer 51 beds in the long-term care unit, and 14 beds in the short-stay rehab unit. Patients recovering from surgery or illness receive services that include physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and skilled nursing care. Private rooms include a bathroom and shower, and provide a comfortable alternative to a traditional nursing home. Constantly working on quality improvement, St. Clare Living Community recently earned a fivestar superior rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. CMS is a federal agency that monitors the quality of services delivered in Medicare- and Medicaid-certified long-term care facilities. St. Clare’s administrator and CEO Jack L’Heureux remarked, “I cannot be more proud of my staff. They work very hard to deliver quality and compassionate care to our residents.” As a nonprofit, faith-based organization, St. Clare’s core values speak to our mission of enhancing the lives of those we serve. These core values are: Hospitality, Stewardship, Respect, and Justice. While we have served our local community faithfully for 45 years, as a nonprofit facility we also rely upon the community for support through the St. Clare Living Community Foundation. The Foundation is focused on renewing, reinvesting, and re-establishing our place in the community. To learn more about the Foundation, please contact director Diane Kiel at 320-679-8322.
