To Federated Co-ops Propane Customers A sincere THANK YOU to each of our loyal propane customers and patrons who helped us through the challenging propane crisis this winter. We hope the worst of this is behind us. While propane prices have fallen from the record highs, we will not be satisfied until they return to normal winter price levels. We are extremely proud of our staff who managed to deliver record gallons of propane and handle a record number of transactions during the extreme weather of December and January. Our customers have been wonderful! When we had a few days that we allocated deliveries to 200 gallons to make sure we covered all our customers needing propane, our customers were very understanding. We are proud of how Federated performed during one of the coldest winters in many years. We honored all Pre-Buy contracts. Even though we traveled as far as Texas to bring propane back to our customers we made those deliveries without any additional delivery charges or fees. We were able to make smaller deliveries during this crisis if requested in order to hold down delivery totals. A positive trend is that 2014-2015 Pre-Buy pricing will be very competitive again this year. There will be opportunities for customers to Pre-Buy propane in spring and summer. We are accepting new customers and will be able to install tanks when the snow allows. THANK YOU to each of you. We hope you will tell your friends and neighbors that Federated Coops is a company you can trust. Sincerely, Federated Staff and Management

Memory Care & Advanced Care

candia Senior Care’s mission is to provide care for the elderly in home settings, utilizing the latest knowledge of geriatrics, along with the traditional Scandinavian Christian values of kindness, dignity and respect for the elderly. With space for 10 residents in Isle and a home in Mora that is growing to accommodate 10 residents, the staff at Scandia House are passionate about providing a uniquely high standard of senior living for those under their care. They take pride in knowing that their residents are receiving top-of-the-line care, by loving and quali¿ed professionals in a neighborhood setting that feels like home. A Safe, Home Environment: Scandia House Assisted Living serves primarily Advanced Care and Memory Care clients. Memory Care seniors can often be a new challenge for family members because they often require supervision at all times of the day. With Wander Alert technology, the staff are able to respond quickly if one of the residents needs assistance with getting something in their room, a bed-to-chair transfer, toilet cares, an escort about the home, or simply wanting to exit the home, which could prove to be unsafe. One reason that many seniors make the transition to assisted living is that they have trouble balancing. With a nurse-call system installed throughout the homes, staff are able to place a high priority on escorting the clients from place to place. Falls can be very dangerous, so it is important to Scandia House that residents with balance issues are escorted to and from their bedrooms throughout the day. With all private bedrooms, the residents at Scandia House are able to develop a sense of their own individualized space, and they are able to bring things from home to decorate

their bedrooms and make them their own. A Scandia House residence provides three home cooked meals and two snacks each day. The staff put extra effort into making the homes comfortable and homey. Part of that is allowing plenty of Àexibility for visits from family and friends. Friends and family are encouraged to visit any time and to sit and visit for as long as they’d like with their loved ones. There is also space available for family gatherings such as birthdays and other special events.

Outstanding Staff Scandia House puts a high priority on the quality of the staff hired. The Isle and Mora locations maintain very high 24–hour staffto-client ratios. All staff members are at minimum trained as a Home Health Aid, but across the two facilities, there are three Registered Nurses and an LPN. Nurse visits at the homes are 4-5 days per week. Led by Ken Bergstrom, a U.S. Navy veteran and registered nurse with over 25 years of medical experience, the staff members are selected for having nursing home experience and certi¿cation with the state; meaning that they are able to manage the medical needs of the residents on a daily basis. Prior to opening Scandia House, Ken was the Director of Nursing at a large Skilled Nursing Facility and has built a nursing team that is well versed on the medical side of things. In addition to a high level of professional competence, Scandia House staff must also have a caring spirit and a mindset in line with the company values of kindness, dignity and respect for the elderly. The staff appreciates being able to spend time with the residents at a slower pace, sitting down with them and getting to know them. Scandinavian Christian Values – Kindness, Dignity, Respect for the Elderly When speaking with Scandia Senior Care Vice President, Becky Bergstrom, it quickly becomes obvious that the values of Scandia House are also her values. She is passionate about creating an environment that honors the men and women under Scandia House’s care. Becky emphasizes how women of the residents’ generation have expressed kindness to her over the decades in serving meals, sharing friendly conversation and giving of their time in a way that is digni¿ed and respectful. “They’re good, giving, hard-working women.” She is inspired by that generation of women and is proud to serve them with the same

TWILLA R. MOORE Twilla Rogene Moore of Mora died peacefully with immediate family members holding her hand on Friday, Feb. 21, 2014 at St Clare’s Nursing Facility, after a long battle with dementia of the Alzheimer’s kind. She was 81 years old. She was born Nov. 16, 1932 in Fairland, Okla. After graduating from Fairland High School she moved to Bartlesville, Okla. She trained and received her cosmetology license and became a talented beautician. It was there where she met and was united in marriage to her husband of 60 years, Ellzy E. Moore, who was in the U.S. Air Force. She quickly became a devoted and supportive Air Force wife, a role that would last for 26 years. She accompanied her husband on several assignments and provided strength to her family while he was away on remote assignments. She and her husband raised their own two daughters as well as extending their love to care for 21 foster children. She always had a love of Christ and a song in her heart. She shared this joy by singing in church choirs. She was often heard humming or singing during her daily activities.

She was a gifted baker, a beautiful cake decorator, an avid gardener, and loved canning the fruits of the garden. She was especially renowned, by her grandchildren, for her canned green beans. Upon her husband’s retirement from the Air Force, they moved to Mora. She was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She worked at EPC in Mora until her retirement. She was preceded in death by parents, Willie and Ola Overacre; sisters, Earnestine Harris and Ardith Moran and brother, Keith Overacre. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 60 years, Ellzy E Moore; daughters, Debra (Jeff) Bracken, of Mora, Cynthia (Dan) O’Keefe of Prior Lake; sister, Charleyne Meier of Hitchcock, Okla.; grandchildren, Sean (Julie) Harris, Knoxville, Tenn., Sabrina Moore-O’Keefe, Shane O’Keefe, Sydney O’Keefe and Samuel O’Keefe of Prior Lake; great-granddaughters, McKayla and Caleigh Harris of Knoxville, Tenn.; sister-in law, Sylvia Faylor of Mora and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Mora with Rev. Vic Elfstrum officiating. Music is being provided by Terry Nord and Paulette Venhuizen. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers will be Jeff Bracken, Dan O’Keefe, Sean Harris, Sabrina Moore-O’Keefe, Shane O’Keefe, Sydney O’Keefe and Sam O’Keefe. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora. Arrangements by DresserMethven Funeral Home.

This year’s play had lots of firsts: our culprit was a Vampire, our victims were made to be zombies and slaves. We missed a whole scene and we forgot to introduce our cast. But as in every year for the past 11 years, we hope that you all had a marvelous time. Never have we had a crowd so large, nor have we ever had so many fine donations from our local community members and fine businesses. What could be a better way to raise money than to have such a blast doing it? Thank you to our entire dedicated cast, our chamber directors who assisted in so many ways, our director, Ben Rossow; our sound man, Pete Morgan; and to Chief Deputy Brian Smith, who did a marvelous job starting off the play with such a deeply intriguing story about Mora’s old haunted & decrepit feed mill. If you wish to see a few pics from the play, please go to our new web portal, Dala. MN. There you will find Dala.MN local contributor Shannon Jackson’s take on the performance and the night’s activities. This was her first time in attendance at one of our plays. The cast pictured at right: Left to right: Toni Fulton (Jello Shot Slinger), Annette Krist (Helena Dairy), Bill Daher (Mayor Ben Dairy), Britane Peterson (Ingrid Clark), Bob Benes (Lester Dine - Vampire), Scott Moe (Ludwig Von Herring), Lonnie Ness (Reginald Maxwell II), Karen Amundson (Helper), Char Weidendorf (Slade Webster), Kathy Drost (Grace Peabody), Patti Demuth (Cleo Lane), Kristin Lang (Sharon Raisin). Again, thank you to all who participated in any way. We loved your costumes, your enthusiasm and your contributions. Your support is so greatly appreciated. Karen Amundson, Executive Director Mora Area Chamber of Commerce
