Farm Bureau and Peoples National Bank) to ring up a total of $6,831.31 in groceries to go to our local food shelves in Mora and Ogilvie. A big thank you, also, to the Mora/Ogilvie Girl Scouts for bagging and loading all of the groceries and to Coborn’s for hosting this event with Peoples National Bank and donating 15 ham cards. Over the past 8 years, $37,591.14 in groceries has been donated to our food shelves through this event.

Sign up for community garden plot Anyone who would like to have a plot(s) in the Mora Community Garden this spring and summer is encouraged to come to the Mora Community Garden Registration/ Orientation meeting on Sunday, April 6 at 4 p.m. at the Kanabec County Courthouse lower-level meeting room. Community garden plots that will be available are 10’x20’ and will be pre-tilled. There is water on site and a 6-foot perimeter fence around the garden. Each plot costs $15 for the season. This is the sixth gardening season for the Mora Community Garden. Master Gardeners are available to mentor community gardeners with planning and advice with their plot throughout the gardening season. The Mora Community Garden is a partnership between the University of Minnesota Extension Master Gardeners of Kanabec County and the city of Mora. DELORIS E. RAND Deloris (Dee) Eileen Rand of Annandale, formerly of Blackduck died peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014. She was 79 years old. She was born July 15, 1934 in Minneapolis to Harold and Ruth (Rasmussen) Mourer. She graduated in 1952 from Mora High School. She worked for Leder Brothers Company from 1961-63 and 1992-95. From 19681992 she worked at Mt. Sinai and Metropolitan Mt. Sinai Hospitals. She retired in 1995 and moved Grand Rapids and cared for her mother until her death in 1995. She moved to Blackduck in 1997. She worked as the secretary for Zion Lutheran Church in Blackduck for over 10 years, was the treasurer for the Alvwood Food Co-op and wrote the Blackduck Senior News for the Blackduck American. In November 2012 she moved to Annandale to be closer to old friends and relatives. She will be remembered for her love of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Merlin ‘Sonny’ Mourer; nephew, Richard Mourer and niece, Michelle Rienske. She is survived by sister-in-law, Carol Mourer; nephews; nieces; cousins and many friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church in Mora with Rev. Dean Oelfke officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials would be preferred to cover final expenses with any remaining balance going to her favorite charity. Checks can be made to Anne Barthel.
