Presents… THE MAGIC OF MOVIES FILM FESTIVAL SATURDAY & SUNDAY, APRIL 20 & 21 The Paradise Theatre in Mora is proud to present our first annual "Paradise Presents - The Magic of Movies Film Festival.” It will consist of six feature length films, three each day. You will see a unique genre of movies, one that spans 87 years, from Buster Keaton's silent film "Sherlock Junior," to Martin Scorsese's five-time Academy Award winner "Hugo." Five of our six feature presentations are literally movies about the movies. The sixth is a hilarious comedy about small town community theatre "Waiting For Guffman." The range from stories about actors walking out of the movie into the theatre "Purple Rose of Cairo," which Woody Allen considered his finest movie; to a theatre projectionist stepping into the screen "Sherlock Junior," Buster Keaton's most imaginative film which film critics consider his best. "The Majestic" revolves around the resurrection of a small town movie theatre, a light-hearted romance that will affect everyone from kids to adults. "Cinema Paradiso" is the all-time classic movie about the movies, an Academy Award winner, in which a small boy falls in love with the movies & grows up to understand their magical effect on our lives. We hope you attend & enjoy our Magic of Movies Film Festival as movies were meant to be seen - on the big screen. There is a short film, 2 to 10 minutes in length, before each feature, from the 2012 Highway 61 Film Festival including a short talk from the filmmakers. Each movie and short film with it is only $2, all day pass in $5. We invite to our newly-renovated theatre, with new digital projection, new surround sound. We are a nonprofit community theatre, here to bring you quality first run movies & live entertainment. The Paradise Theatre is very thankful & proud to have received funding from the Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund through a grant from the East Central Regional Arts Council.

RALPH F. MEYER, JR. Ralph Frank Meyer, Jr. of Grasston died on Monday, April 1, 2013 at his home. He was 65 years old. He was born on Oct. 2, 1947 to Ralph Frank Meyer, Sr. and Elaine Ann (Walbridge) Meyer at St. Cloud. His family lived in St. Cloud when he was young. Later, the family moved to St. Paul. While living in St. Paul he met the love of his life, Gale. On Sept. 29, 1981, at their White Bear Lake home, the couple was united as one. They were married for 31 years and were blessed with four wonderful children and 11 grandchildren. During those 31 years he built their home, creating a place where he could build and also craft furniture. He loved fishing,
THANK YOU I would like to thank all my friends and family for your prayers, visits, cards and food brought to my house after I fell and cracked my ribs in December. They are finally healing and I’m getting around much better. Also a special thank you to my grandson Eddy Jr. for taking such good care of me. Arnie Pangerl THANK YOU The family of Helen Asplund would like to express their gratitude to all who gave their comfort and prayers in this time of our loss. The cards, calls, visits, food given and memorials showed how much Mom meant to all of us. Thank you, Father Xavier, for officiating the service. It was beautiful and meant more than words can say. Thank you to Mike Carroll and his staff, the pall bearers, the church for the delicious lunch, to Cathi and Abby for the music, to the Fairview hospice and home health aides, to Doug and Deb and the staff of angels who took such great care of Mom. Your kindness will never be forgotten. The family of Helen Asplund
THANK YOU A special thank you to everyone who voted for me for the East Central Energy Board of Directors. I am honored to continue as your director for another term and will continue to work hard to keep our electric rates low. I would ask that all ECE members contact your state and federal elected officials and tell them to vote “NO” on more mandates to the electric industry. This is the best way to keep our rates from going up in the future. Again, thank you so very much. Jerry T. Tvedt April 14 Eastern Star The Mora Chapter of the Eastern Star will hold their open installation at 2 p.m. at the Masonic Hall. The public is invited to attend. Refreshments will be served following the ceremony. camping, working with wood, hunting and having a grand old time with his family and friends. He enjoyed taking his family on camping, fishing and hunting trips. He loved and cherished all his children and grandchildren. He’s no longer suffering. We will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother. He is survived by his wife, Gale; sons, Ralphie Meyer III of Grasston, David Meyer of Grasston; daughters, Kimmy Koehnen of Lexington, Shannon Meyer of Grasston; 11 grandchildren; four brothers; three sisters and many other family and friends. Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Akkerman – Ingebrand Chapel. Ralph Youker and family members officiated. Pallbearers were David Meyer, Maurice Meyer, Shannon Meyer, Ralph Youker, Henry Meyer and Dale Peppin. Honorary pallbearers were David Youker, Robert Warner, Gerard Peppin and Lester Anderson. MILTON T. CARLSON Milton Theodore Carlson, of Grasston died on April 6, 2013 at Grace Pointe Crossing Gables East in Cambridge. He was 91 years old. He was born April 30, 1921 in Grasston to John and Emma Carlson. The family lived in Grass Lake Township where he attended school in Grasston and was baptized and confirmed at Hope Lutheran Church. As a young man he worked on his Grandma Winfield’s farm and the Russell Peterson farm. He enlisted in the Army on March 17, 1943, but due to an accident and several months of hospitalization he was unable to finish his training. He was not a quitter and soon found work. He had several jobs over his lifetime: he worked for the railroad, Minneapolis Moline, concrete work at the Duluth Airport, road construction labor and work on Hwy. 210 in Brainerd, Munkberg Potato Company in Cambridge and Dahlmans in Braham. In 1953 he met the love of his life, Marion Swanson, at the Café in Pillager where she worked and where he ate lunch every day. On Sept. 10, 1955 they were united in marriage in Pillager. They made their home in Grasston where seven children were born. His hobbies were fishing, hunting, fishing, trapping, ice fishing, watching wrestling on TV and fishing. He truly enjoyed his spe-
cial time with his fishing buddies Dalton and Marshall. He and his wife enjoyed going to the Pine City flea market and going to garage sales. He enjoyed sitting on the front deck listening to the radio and watching the cars and trains go by. There were always lots of honks and waves. He was always ready and willing to help where he could. He will truly be missed by all that knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers; sisters and grandson. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 57 years, Marion; children, Mary (Mike), Milo (Sis), Marlin (Barb), Myla (Michael), Marie (Doug), Marlys (James), Milton, Jr. (Tish); 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren (soon to be 15); many nieces and nephews and his faithful companion, Midge. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 12, 2013 at Hope Lutheran Church in Grasston with Rev. James Sodergren officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at the Rock-Ingebrand Funeral Home in Braham and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Music will be provided by Marie Grundberg. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Jerry LaFrenz, Brandon Handy, Cody Carlson, Dalton Nelson, Terry Nieman, Karl Handy, Jade Carlson and Marshall Sward. Honorary pallbearers will be Marvin Swanson, Ronald Swanson, Jerry Norby, Raymond Pearson, Rick Victor, Les Nelson, and Jerry Backlund. Burial will be at the Grasston Union Cemetery. Arrangements by RockIngebrand Funeral Home. Condolences may be posted at www.aifuneralhome.com.
