Kathleen (Kathy, Kate) Ann Larisson (Macko, Pepel, Morrell) of Mora, died on Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2021. d SShe was 82 years old. She was born on June 23, 1939, in Minneapolis, where she grew up M with her brothers playing sports and w music. m She graduated from Anoka High SSchool in 1957 and from Brown IInstitute for radio broadcasting in 11991.She sang and played bluegrass gguitar, rhythm guitar, and the bass oover her long musical career, includiing country western, bluegrass, folk aand rock music. She played in many bands; worked in laundry, warehouses and metal fabrication; waited tables and cooked; co-owned Morrell’s bar and restaurant for 11 years; sold radio time and books; and volunteered throughout her long life, most recently with the Mora United Methodist Church and Meals on Wheels. She lived her life in full and loved her family, friends and neighbors. She was truly kind, funny and deeply thoughtful. Her works and words deepened the faith of many people. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Larison; parents, George and Rose (Kupp) Macko; brothers, Richard and Robert Macko; great-grandson, John Blakeley; and ex-husbands, James Pepel and Franklyn Morrell. She is survived by her children, Diane (Terry) O’Neal, Dale Pepel and Melody (Andrew McClain) Morrell; grandchildren, Jennifer (Ken) Blakeley (son, Gabriel), Steven Scherer, Ivy Reutzel-Morrell (son, Zayden), Sean O’Neal, Orion Reutzel, Fen Smitke-Morrell and Sebastian O’Neal. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021, at Mora United Methodist Church (500 Clark St in Mora, MN) with lunch to follow.
