We Need You to VOTE for your
Favorite Christmas Windows! Many of the local businesses are participating in the 3rd Annual Mora Christmas Window Decorating Contest and we are asking you all to be the judges! From Friday, Nov. 23, through Saturday, Dec. 8, the decorated windows of many local businesses will be ready for your review. Ballots available at participating businesses.
At 4:30, we will draw 3 winners from the ballot box to win assorted gifts and gift certificates from the participating businesses. Winners must be present to win.
In addition, on Saturday, Dec. 8, you are invited to the festivities taking place in and around the Chamber office including Santa and possibly horse-drawn wagon rides from 3-4 p.m.
Right after that, the business that you’ve chosen to win the best window decoration contest will be announced! This lucky business owner will win a 1/4 page color ad in the Mora Advertiser!
By 4:15 in the afternoon of Saturday, Dec. 8, you must have placed your window ballots in the box at the Chamber office (111 South Union Street, Suite 2).
Immediately following, at 4:45, Downtown Mora will have a City Christmas Tree lighting ceremony along with Santa, carolers and specials throughout town. We invite you onto the street to sing with us as the tree is lit!

DAMAGE PREVENTION PROGRAM
Early Deadline Notice
Safety is our top priority! FOR SAFETY’S SAKE... CALL BEFORE YOU DIG!
1-800-252-1166
Call Gopher State One-Call when you plan a project! Northwest Gas has natural gas pipelines in the Ogilvie/Mora area. Please call at least 48 hours before you plan to begin any machine-assisted excavating. This includes stump grinding, topsoil stripping or any other operation where power equipment is used, regardless of digging depth. Pipelines may not be where you expect! Pipeline marking signs do not indicate a pipeline’s exact location and never can you be sure of the depth of a pipeline. A pipeline may change direction and depth rapidly in a very short distance. The only safe method of locating a pipeline is by calling Gopher State One-Call and having a Northwest employee locate it for you. After you contact Gopher State One-Call a Northwest employee will visit your work site and mark the location of our pipeline for you at no charge. If your plans change after the pipeline is marked, call Gopher State One-Call again. Do not try to guess our pipeline’s location from previous markings or it’s depth from a previous measurement.
Due to the holidays, deadlines for the Kanabec County Times and the Pine City Pioneer are the following:
Dec. 27 issue will be Dec. 21 at noon. & the Jan. 3 issue will be Dec. 28 at noon.

Dec. 1 & 2 Free movies at Paradise At 1 p.m. the movie “Frankenweenie” will be presented free of charge due to sponsorship by Quality Disposal System. The movie is rated PG and no tickets will be required. “Ban the Bug” clinic scheduled It is not too late to get influenza vaccination Kanabec County Public Health will hold a “Ban the Bug” Influenza Vaccination Clinic on Tuesday, Dec. 4 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Kanabec County Public Health offices at: 905 E Forest Ave.; Mora. The clinic is part of the statewide “Ban the Bug” effort to encourage Minnesotans to get vaccinated against influenza. Dec. 2-8 is also National Influenza Vaccination Week. “It is not too late to get a flu shot,” said Jackie Voight, RN. “The Ban the Bug Campaign seeks to remind people that there is still time to protect themselves against influenza.” Influenza vaccinations are recommended for all Minnesotans over age 6 months, but they are especially important for young children 6 months to 5 years old, seniors, people of any age with chronic medical conditions, pregnant women, people living with or caring for those at high risk for complications from influenza, and health care workers. Residents are reminded to bring their Medicare and health insurance cards along to the clinic. There is a suggested administration fee for uninsured persons. Also, wearing short sleeves (under a sweater if it’s cold) makes it easier to get vaccinated. For more information about the Ban the Bug Clinic, call Jackie at 320-679-6320.

IN MEMORY OF ARDY KARAS April 6, 1917 - Dec. 2, 2011 His smiling way and pleasant face are a pleasure to recall; He had a kindly word for each, and died beloved by all. Someday we hope to meet him, someday we know not when; To clasp his hand in the better land, never to part again. We love and miss you, The family of Ardy Karas
REMEMBERING KAY McCARTY On Nov. 20, the earth lost an amazing friend. Kay McCarty had a gentle dedication to a way of living which helped preserve our natural environment. She showed us what we all can and should do in our daily lives to take care of Mother Earth for our children and future generations. We can think of no better example of a conscientious life, than Kay’s. If we all have learned a little from her and have altered our habits, she will have left the legacy she hoped for. We are so very thankful for the life of Kay McCarty. Peg and Marty (Martin) Carlson
