Now I, Bruce Palmer, testify and bear witness of the Lord Jesus Christ how I heard the Gospel, went to Jesus and was born again. I was born June 6, 1948 in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin. My home town is Chisago City, Minnesota. Mom brought us up Catholic, but Dad was a Lutheran. Bev and I married February 25, 1967. Our marriage had ups and downs the first six years. A friend called asking me to come over. His life and marriage were a mess. I went and he offered me a beer. I was trying to quit, so I turned it down, but then gave in. After 13 beers, we were nowhere. Frustrated, I said. “Maybe you need God. I’ve got to go.” In my pickup, I thought about my life. I remember saying, “He needs God. I need God.” So I said, “God, if you’re there, I need you!” and went home.

That summer, I noticed a change in Bev. I didn’t know how or why, I only knew she changed. I would come home canned up and ripped. Bev would say, “Did you have a good time?” “What’s this,” I thought? Then she would ask me if I wanted food. “Sure,” I had the munchies. I could have eaten the table legs. She made me eggs and toast. Sometimes, I was in such bad shape, I couldn’t even walk. Bev was so kind and I’d be lying on the floor. I remember saying, “Oh God, what’s going on? I don’t deserve her.” One morning, Bev asked if I would mind a preacher coming for a visit. I said, “If you bring any preacher around here, I’ll break his jaw and throw him out the door!” My boss Dick Somody helped me finish my sales route. We arrived at my place about 9 p.m. There was the preacher, Gene Brush, at the kitchen table with Lester Glassel and my sister-in-law Debbie Myers. Walking in, I was a little angry. I thought about what I had said. But then something came over me. I finally said, “Hello.” Debbie broke the ice and said, “Bruce, you should see what the Bible says?” I said, “What does it say?” Gene asked me “Do you think you are a sinner?” Laughing, I said, “Sinner? I’m probably the worst one that ever was.” Gene asked me, “Do you know where you will go when you die?” I answered, “I don’t know. I would like to go to Heaven, but I suppose I’ll go to Hell because of all the bad things I have done.” Gene showed me Romans 3:10: As it is written, there is none righteous, no not one. The Word of God says nobody is righteous. Then I read Romans 3:23: For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Gene explained because no one is righteous and everyone sins, they fall short of the glory of God. Then he showed me Romans 5:12: Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin, and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned. Gene told us everybody dies because we are all sinners. I asked him who the one man was? He said, “Adam!” He added, man is fallen away from God because of Adam’s disobedience in the Garden of Eden. We are all sinners, and because we are sinners we have to die. Fallen sinful man needs a Savior. The only Savior for sin is Jesus Christ. Next, I read Romans 6:23: For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. God gives the gift of eternal life, through Jesus. Then Gene held out his pen and said, “Here is a gift. What must you do in order to receive it?” And I said, “Take it.” Gene continued to show me verses in Romans on sin, judgement and new life in Christ. I looked out the dark kitchen window and could see the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross in my mind’s eye. I said, “I get it. If I believe that Jesus died on the cross for me, I can go to Heaven because of what he did, not because of anything I can do.” Gene said, “Yes! The Bible says, if you call upon the name of the Lord, you will be saved. Would you like to do this now?” “No,” I said. “It’s something I have to do by myself. If I do it now, you’ll think I’m doing it because of you.” In bed that night, Bev asked me “Did you do it?” I said, “Don’t push me. I’m thinking.” I said to myself, “This is big. This is really big!” In the morning, it seemed like seconds had gone by. Inside myself, it was like someone was saying, “Will you do it?” And I said to myself, “I’ll do it. Where can I do this?” I wanted to be alone. “I’ll do it in my truck.” I had coffee, loaded my truck and took off on my route. As I headed toward the Cities on the Highway 8 crossover north of Forest Lake, I spoke out loud saying, “God, I haven’t spoken to you in a long time. I’m coming before you, as you said in your Word to call upon the name of Jesus, to save me. I want to be with you when I die. I believe you died on the cross for me.” It only seemed right that I should thank him, so I did. “Thank you for saving me.” I knew I was saved. The day was December 14, 1973. At my accounts, I told folks, who knew me, that I had just been saved. I told them they needed to be saved too. I began reading the Bible. I wanted to know more about Jesus. I read the book of James, the Gospel of John, the New Testament, then the whole Bible. People noticed I quit smoking and drinking. Also, my foul mouth was gone, the drugs and many other changes took place. I love to share my testimony of what Jesus did for me, how He worked in my life and how He brought me to salvation. I encourage you to go alone in faith to Jesus believing and ask for your salvation.

Thank You Incorporated
The Kanabec County First Responder Team, Inc. would like to thank everyone for coming to our first fundraiser spaghetti supper held on November 23 at the Mora Fire Hall. It was a huge success thanks to all of the community for their support, all of our volunteers for their hard work and dedication. The money raised is going toward our radio upgrade project and putting on more volunteers. And a special thank you to the following businesses and individuals for their donations to this event:
• Gene Sheggrud • Jeff Forcier • Miranda Harris • Todd Groniga • Mora Fire Department

IN MEMORY OF JEREMY RADERMACHER July 1, 1981 - Dec. 9, 2009 We love you son, You love your son before he even comes into this world. You have dreams of what he’ll look like, sound like, be like. You wonder how it will feel to hold him the first time and what it will take to keep him safe. You have hopes for his childhood and plans for his future and then he arrives, and you realize you never could have imagined this kind of happiness... Son, for all we dreamed you’d be or hoped you’d become, thank you for being a constant and wonderful surprise — touching our days, our lives, our hearts with love. I love you. Mom OXOXOX
