Mora Public School District Parents, The weather in Minnesota can be a challenge in determining decisions on late starts, early releases, and school closings. The safety of our children is our biggest concern and is always a top priority when determining how to handle Minnesota snow/cold days. Please remember, as a parent or guardian, you make the final decision as to your child’s attendance at school. At the start of the school year, parents completed an “Emergency School Closing Information Form for their students. The information provided on that document informs the teacher as to your plan for your student should the school close early for any reason. Mustang Care is not available on these days. There are a number of factors considered when determining whether or not to host a school day as normally scheduled or if it needs to be altered. Mora Public Schools does consider these variables in a timely fashion in order to assist students and families in making the best and safest decision. It is understood that you also have to make adjustments in your schedule when there is a two hour late start, early release or students do not go to school at all. Here are a few of the factors we consider when changing the school day because of weather related concerns: 1. Snow totals, drifting snow, and timing of snowfall. 2. Temperature and wind chill. 3. Weather at arrival time and conditions of travel. 4. Timing of when the city, township, county roads will be plowed and if a bus can make the route stops within a reasonable time frame. Main roads are usually plowed first. 5. Are weather conditions the same on the northern and southern parts of our district, as our district spans a significant distance? After evaluating the weather related factors outlined above, the following options are in place to determine the decision needing to be made to change the school day: 1. School remains on-time as routes can travel within a reasonable time frame. 2. School will be 2 hours late - No Morning Mustang Care. a. Fairview would start at 10:00 a.m. • All-Day Preschool would start at 10:15 a.m. b. Trailview would start at 10 a.m. c. High School would start at 10:05 a.m. d. Bus pick up times will be 2 hours later than usual. 3. School will start 2 hours late and only travel on plowed roads and would keep the schedule for each school above. 4. School has an early dismissal due to weather, there will also be No Afternoon Mustang Care. 5. Weather can change throughout the day requiring students to be released early and would depend on the severity of the weather conditions at travel times. 6. School is closed for the day. No Morning or Afternoon Mustang Care. Mass communication of school closures can be found locally on Chanel 4, 5, 9, 11 as well as KBEK, WCMP, WCCO radio, www.moraschools.org , and www.facebook.com/MoraPublicSchools . Also, you may receive a message from our new parent notification system, School Messenger. Our previous provider, SchoolReach has been purchased by School Messenger. This notification system is designed for you to receive these reminders and/or changes in the school day as soon as those decisions are made by the district. This will give you current information as soon as it is available. Please feel free to contact the bus garage for additional clarification specific to your route if you have any additional questions, 320-679-6255. The phones both at the school offices and bus garage are extremely busy during these periods of time; therefore, if you receive a voicemail, please note these other sources to obtain school closure information. DEC. 15 ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CONCERT The elementary school choir concert is Tuesday, Dec. 15, 7 p.m., in the Pine City Elementary School Auditorium. IN MEMORY JEREMY J. RADERMACHER I miss you so much honey. There’s still a void within my heart. Your time on earth was shortened. I never dreamed we’d be apart. I know that you’re with Jesus and your soul is fi nally free, but this pain I feel without you overwhelms the best of me. You were too young to go to heaven, you should have grown up and married too. But I guess God needed you more, so He came and rescued you. He kept you from all heartaches, and all pain. In exchange He gave a one way ticket, so with Him you could remain. I know how much God loves and I know one day I’ll see that heaven is where you belong, and how much I miss you too. You were my angel sent from heaven, and now you’re heavens angel too. Love Mom and Mike,

MARGARET PATTY BARTON SEPT. 19, 1948 DEC. 13, 2014 It was a year ago you know. That the Lord said its time to go. I recall how sometimes we would sit and pray and try to read God’s word, The Bible everyday. And so it went those days and years, attempting to read through the tears. After only one year, I try to fi nd joy in my heart, sometimes not accepting why we had to part. And yet as those days and years may go by, it’s comforting to know I’ll be with you again in the bye and bye, soon or maybe not, but our saying was, “I Will Be With You No Matter What. No Matter What.” Sadly missed by, Bob, Joe, Anne; grandchildren: Anders, Sedric, Carson, Isaiah, Gracie, Emmaline, Lydia and Peanut
