Prior to registering online, you must set up a household account. Visit icevalleycentre.com, click "Register Online" and click "Log In/Create Account". Once your account is created, you may search the online catalogue for programming and events. Click the program you want to register for and follow the directions. All online registrations require payment at the time of registering.
Call us at (815) 939-1946 to register over the phone. All phone registrations require payment at the time of registering.
You may register in person at the rink's front desk during business hours. Please check out website for facilities hours.
We accept cash, check and credit cards. All phone and online registrations require a credit card. All credit cards are subject to a convenience fee with a minimum charge amount of $1.00.
Please note all registration deadlines in this guide. Registrations will not be accepted past the class deadline.
Due to the limited class schedule, make ups will not be allowed during the summer. We will resume makeup classes for the Learn to Skate USA program in the fall.
Taking a hockey class but don't have the equipment? Rent from us! Bag and equipment rentals are available per session at a $25 rental fee. Please contact Aaron Denton at adenton@kvpd.com to schedule an equipment fitting.

All programs listed under the Learn to Skate USA program at Ice Valley Centre Ice Arena require a Learn to Skate USA Membership before the first day of classes. This membership, which is $18.50 plus fees once per July 1 - June 30 season, can be obtained by visiting www.learntoskateusa.com. When enrolling, please select Ice Valley Centre Ice Arena as your home rink so you will be included on our program roster.
For more information on this membership, please visit www.learntoskateusa.com. All skaters with a 2022-2023 Membership will need to renew their membership by July 1, 2023.
Skate rental is included for ALL Learn to Skate and Hockey programs. This does not include Public Skate, Drop in Hockey, Stick N' Puck or Freestyle Ice hours.

Explore the wonderful world of ice skating in this introductory class for our youngest skaters ages 2-4! Spend 30 minutes with our instructors playing on and off the ice, singing songs and getting comfortable in skates! This class is perfect for those hesitant new skaters. Please note: the first day of class will be strictly off ice.
All weekly classes are 30 minutes of instructional time and skate rental is included A helmet and Learn to Skate USA Membership is required * Please note: this class is only a 6 week session No classes November 25
This unique and fun-filled class teaches the fundamentals of skating to children ages 3-5. Each week, skaters will learn basic balance and skating skills in a themed environment While incorporating age appropriate on ice activities, skaters will develop the coordination and strength necessary to maneuver on the ice independently
All weekly classes are 45 minutes of instructional time and skate rental is included A helmet and Learn to Skate USA Membership are required * Please note: this class is only a 6 week session. No classes November 25.
For the beginner skater! No skating experience required Skills taught include Basic skating skills such as falling down, standing up, gliding, snowplow stops and swizzles will be introduced Prerequisite class for Hockey Academy
For ages 6-12. All weekly classes are 45 minutes of instructional time and skate rental is included. A helmet is highly recommended A Learn to Skate USA Membership is required

For skaters who have successfully passed Basic 1 Skaters will continue to learn the basics of ice skating while beginning basic backward skating skills
For ages 6-12. All weekly classes are 45 minutes of instructional time and skate rental is included. A helmet is highly recommended. A Learn to Skate USA Membership is required.

For skaters who have successfully passed Basic 2. In this combined class, skaters will learn in this level beginning stroking, half swizzle pumps, backward one foot glides and backward snowplow stops
For ages 6-12 All weekly classes are 45 minutes of instructional time and skate rental is included A Learn to Skate USA Membership is required Skaters who have successfully passed Basic 3 will be eligible to join The Academy, a two day a week skating program for the advancing skater *Please note: this class is only a 6 week session. No classes November 25.
In this combined class, skaters will be introduced to advanced backward skating including backward edges and backward crossovers as well as new turns, jumps and spins Skaters who successfully pass Basic 6 will move on to the Kankakee Figure Skating Academy or Advanced Freeskate class.
All weekly classes are 30 minutes of instructional time and skate rental is included A helmet and Learn to Skate USA Membership is required *Please note: this class is only a 6 week session No classes November 25
This program introduces the beginner adult skater to the basics of skating As skaters advance, new and exciting skills such as jumps, spins, footwork and artistic elements will be introduced This class also promotes physical fitness and improves balance and coordination while learning proper skating techniques Divided into six levels, adult skaters will progress at an individual rate while being challenged and motivated
For ages 13+ All weekly classes are 45 minutes of instructional time and skate rental is included. A Learn to Skate USA Membership is required. *Please note: this class is only a 6 week session No classes November 25
For skaters who have successfully passed Basic 5 and 6 Begin your journey with the Freeskate curriculum during our Advanced Freeskate class! Skaters will work at their own pace to progress through the levels, beginning with Pre-Freeskate. For skaters ages 6-17 years old.

Supplement your skating classes with our specialty classes! These classes are a great way to get some extra time and instruction to master your skating skills All classes are for ages 6-17 For levels Basic 6 and up
The Academy is designed to teach skating skills at a faster pace in a small group environment This seven week training program will provide skaters with a variety of on ice skating instruction as well as the opportunity to develop further mastery of their skills by working in a semi-private or small group This class is perfect for anyone wanting to perform in ice shows, compete, learn new disciplines in figure skating or wanting to advance through the levels quicker
Academy Bronze is for skaters in Basic 4-6, Academy Silver is for skaters in Pre-Freeskate - Freeskate 2, Academy Gold is for skaters in Freeskate 3-5 and Academy Platinum is for skaters in Freeskate 6 and beyond *No classes October 31, November 23, November 25.
The axel is the most challenging move you'll learn during figure skating If you want to ace the axel and join U S Figure Skating's axel club, you'll want to check out this class! We will also study the mechanics needed to improve your single jumps

This class will focus on the mechanics of double jumps and advanced spins, including variations and flying spins For skaters who have passed Freeskate 6, 6 years of age and up

Skaters will learn the basic principles and philosophy of choreography, presentation and performance to integrate into their own skating High is for skaters who have passed Freeskate 6 and low is for skaters in Pre-Freeskate and up *No classes November 23 and 25.

Is your young skater showing interest in competing but not sure on the next step? Learn all about getting started in competive figure skating!
You know that spin-y thing that you skater does with their leg held behind them? Yes, it does have a name! Learn all about jumps and spins so you can indentify what your skater is doing on the ice! This is an interactive class, so please wear workout clothes and gym shoes
Ice Valley Centre Ice Arena offers off ice classes to help improve flexibility, strength, agility, balance, movement, and performance Each of the courses are designed to accelerate a skaters' on ice development Skaters are encouraged to enroll in off ice classes to complement on ice training as the sport places substantial strength and flexibility demands on a skater’s body Enrolled in the Kankakee Figure Skating Academy? Freestyle Ice is a practice session for figure skaters The jump harness may be used during this time by one of our trained on staff coaches
All 30 minute slots are sold on the half hour. Max 20 skaters per session. Walk ins welcomed or you may purchase your ice time online ahead of time Skaters must sign in upon arriving at the front desk

The 2023 Kankakee Valley Open will be held on Sunday, October 15! Registration ends on Monday, September 11 with late registration ending Saturday, September 16 All skaters will receive a download of their events from Chicago Star Productions

- Pre-Freeskate - Freeskate 6 Compulsory Moves and Freeskate
- Excel Beginner - Intermediate
- Excel Preliminary Plus - Juvenile Plus
- Jumps and Spins (Beginner - Preliminary, Adult Beginner - Bronze)
- Adult 1-6 and Adult Pre-Bronze and Bronze (Compulsory Moves and Freeskate)
*Please note: all levels will be judged under the 6 0 system

Parents, join in on the fun of the development of your young hockey players This class will be working on simple basics of skating and moving puck around Players will need a helmet, shin guards, elbow pads, gloves and a stick. Parents must be 18+. *No classes November 25.
Join Icee on an adventure to learn the basics skills of skating In this introductory hockey class is meant for our youngest players ages 3-5! Spend 20 minutes with our hockey instructors playing on and off the ice, getting comfortable in skates and helmet while learning the beginning skating skills This class is designed for first time nervous skaters. Icee's Rookies basic hockey class builds skills of our beginner skaters. Skills covered in this 30-minute class include basic skating, stops, turns, backward skating and crossovers, push and glides A hockey stick is introduced in this level Full equipment required Pre-requisite of Icee's Adventurers Hockey required For ages 3 and up *No classes November 25

Icee's Intermediate is the next level in progression after a successful evaluation from our Icee's Rookies class This 30minute class will cover intermediate skating and playing skills of the game of hockey Hockey puck usage will be introduced while students work on stick and puck handling, passing and shooting Full equipment required

Previously named Learn to Play, Hockey Academy is the beginning of learning the basic skills of the game of hockey
This class will meet twice a week Students will begin with skating technique and then transition into learning shooting and passing The required equipment for this class includes skates, stick, hockey gloves, shin guards, elbow pads, shoulder pads, hockey pants and a helmet *No classes November 25
The Kankakee Coyotes House League Hockey (Tier III/House B) is developmental/recreational hockey program for boys and girls
They play within the Northwest Hockey League The emphasis in house league is on individual player development All players are to receive equal ice time (balanced ice time) over the course of the season

This class is perfect for skaters ages 15 and up who are interested in playing hockey This class meets on Wednesdays from 7:30-8:30 pm and is taught by Ice Valley Instructors Players will learn all the skills they need to play in a game Full equipment is required Whether you're just starting out or want extra ice time, this is a great class for adult looking to play hockey

Learning to play hockey is more than just learning a game More than skating, passing and stick-handling, hockey is about responsibility, respect and teamwork As children learn the skills needed to succeed on the ice, they also build and solidify important character traits needed to succeed off the ice With that in mind, the Learn to Play initiative was developed jointly by the National Hockey League and the National Hockey League Players’ Association to offer more families a chance to experience everything that makes youth hockey so rewarding
This 6 week Learn to Play program includes 45 mimutes of on ice instructional time per week and head-to-toe equipment for your child to keep as they contune exploring youth hockey This program is designed for first time players only ages 4-9 as of January 1, 2023 It is recommended but not required that our new skaters participate in a Learn to Skate class prior to the start of Little Blackhawks Skaters who have participated in pervious Little Blackhawks classes will are unable to register for this class Visit https://learntoplay.nhl.com/blackhawks to register.
The Kankakee Irish play in the CIPHC League It is the intent of the CIPHC to foster and support High School hockey in the state of Illinois.
