Arch - the spatial symbol of porch The representation of porch is embodied in a form of arch which demarcate private, semi-private door front and communal area. The subtle difference of wood grain and texture are applied in the elderly home to create diversity, and spatial hierarchy from public to private bedroom. And serveral stained wood boxes, which could be small bedrooms, nurse station and training area, are placed in different corner of the elderly home, and these color variation will be a useful tool for those who has dementia.
Make Your Seat A Front Row Seat ! The concept is inspired by an illustration from literature: New Aging - Live Smarter Now and Live Better Forever, an idea to create a socially vibrant living environment for the elder. The porch, a door front space, is the central design element compose the elderly home. I envision throught embedding different porch space in different scale, the social and physical distance between elderly’s private bedroom and communal space could be shortened, and a vibrant interaction between residents could be achieved.

It is composed by natural material, solid wood table, wood parquet, terrazzo flooring, and an aquaponic system. A fish tank and plant nurturing system is a composition of hand crafted one-piece stainless steel tank cum bench, white concrete plinth and water circulation system. This space is intended to inject liveliness to the elderly home, and allow various activities within a internal area filled with nature subtances.

Hut and Field A redevelopment project for a kindergarten project is inspired by the roof-scape in Hong Kong urban environment. The idea is to bring the openness of roof-scape to a new 7-story kindergarten building, each floor contain a learning and playing field for children;and huts, the classroom, are arranged around these fields. A conceptual sketch in a format of comic is illustrated to study the spatial association to the sky, the field and the huts, from lower to higher floors.

Design Competition for a historic bunker in Busan / 2015
Tunnel as street The new additional bunker is an intermediate space between the existing underground bunker and the hill surface programs. A typical tunnel arch-shaped geometry inspires the design and concept of the tunnel. The tunnel running 180m is segmented into several parts which serve multi-functional program. It is considered as a street which branches into existing bunker.
50/50 : Ephemeral Diversity The development principle of the existing bunkers and hill surface lies on the idea to create flexible and creative use of space to invite users to explore the site. And the purpose is to transform the space to serve both communal recreations and cultural hub to hold various art and design functions. The design of the underground facilities was generated by the idea of a rhythmical play of new modules crossing the hill in order to break down the timeline into intervals and reduce the monotony when people passing the underground space. These underground landscape is highlighted by the addtional bunkers: street tunnel and vertical bunker. Passing through the underground world in different scale of space and dimension create poetic and exciting composition of experience and allow people to understand the unique characters of the site. Hill surface and underground area is connected by vertical circulation: the ramp of vertical bunker and lift core in the street tunnel. Wandering path and small tunnels is create to complete and extend the narratives of the underground area up to the hill top surface where a new horizontality is placed as a new contempory art museum. This horizontal expresstion contrast with the ridge of the hill topography and serves as an icon of the whole development.

Hong Kong house stacking
Micro Housing Proposal in Hong Kong A housing typology study for Hong Kong housing development. The idea is to envision a new living style which encourage collective and shared living style, and at the same time allow individual house ownership in a high - rise context. Three basic house modules which reflect the old Hong Kong village culture are defined : row houses, terrace house and lifted house. These modules become units to build up the building. The Houses, or the building, transform itself according to owner decision to add-on different parts to fit their lifestyle, and the connectivity of the vertical transition also help to enhance collective living.
