All of Kansas City Life’s fixed deferred annuities are issued with a guaranteed interest rate, which remains in effect until the first redetermination date. On each redetermination date, a redetermined guaranteed interest rate will take effect. The redetermined guaranteed interest rate will always be at least 1 percent and not more than 3 percent.

Single Premium Immediate Annuity (SPIA)
SPIA tax advantages If you fund your SPIA contract with after-tax dollars, the income payments you receive are partially taxable. A portion of each payment consists of a return of your investment, and a portion is interest. Only the interest portion is treated as taxable income. Once your after-tax investment (basis) is received tax-free, all future payments are 100 percent taxable.

On each redetermination date, a redetermined guaranteed interest rate for the fixed account will take effect. The redetermined guaranteed interest rate for the fixed account will always be at least 1 percent and not more than 3 percent.
