Brief To create a website for a fictitious new business in Newcastle, UK that must reflect the both business’s brand values and carefully consider the content and functions required by the new business and its customers.
Solution To create a modern, fresh and trendy website that reflects core brand values, provides information about business and help to achieve customers goals. This requires target audience research for better understanding users needs and setting business goals for better content and function identification.

Researches and Setting Goals For better understanding business goals and idea validation researches were conducted which have discovered an overflow of gyms and fitness clubs in Newcastle. On this basis, it was decided to move into technologies and create first smart fitness and health club in the city. Updated business goals helped to define the target audience, create different user personas and user scenarios. Competitor analysis helped to identificate desired functions and gave understanding of common structure, content and navigation.

Information Architecture Due to help to achieve newcomers and existing members goals the website was decided to divide into two major sections. The first, “guest” section contain several pages that provide essential information about main features, facilities and membership fees. The Second, the “member” section is entirely personalised and based on user preferences and collected data from user’s smart devices such as a smartphone, smartwatches or any other smart devices to display activity information and suggest better time, frequency and combination for workout and nutrition programs.

Landing page The landing page is core page of “guest” section that contains a short overview of main features, facilities and membership. Each section is linked to the dedicated page which contains more specific information and media about user’s interest. The main goal of the landing page is to arouse interest and represent the brand.

Activity Statistic page Activity Statistic page is the main page for members where user can review personal activity and agenda that shows upcoming workouts, diet and classes. Besides the history of activity, user can set and track personal goals, manage classes, workouts and nutrition programs. Also, users have access to community forums, FAQ and complete information and media about club facilities.

Brief To create a website targeting on narrow gamer audience for stream watching platform. The website must reflect core brand values and carefully consider the content and functions such as independent and closed voice, video and text chats.
Solution To create the website based on Google’s Material Design principles using simple animation, intuitive navigation and adaptive layout with ability to switch between original stream chat and private room chat.

Analysis, Wireframing and Prototyping For better understanding the audience the analysis of the biggest stream platform Twitch was made. This gave the understanding of users needs and their behaviour. Afterwards, a few series of wireframes and prototypes powered by InVision of key website sections were made for testing initial ideas and general layout.

Final Design It was decided to create the website in dark colours due to the fact that a significant part of gamers watch streams at late evening or night. That gives better experience by reducing the contrast of brightness between the screen and viewer’s room.

Brief To create a new e-commercial platform that is trading extreme, fun and unusual services and consist of the customer and administrative parts. The website must be targeting a young audience and have easy-to-use navigation, managing and buying processes for the both sides.
Solution To create a fresh, emotional and user-centered e-commerce platform based on simplicity and intuitive principles with a clean and easy-touse interface. Along with this, create a friendly communication system for better user experience.

Tone of voice To create a friendly relationship with AddExperience platform users behaves like a real person and communicates using a casual and slightly fun tone of voice. This is made to create a better experience of platform usage and remind about important thing in a friendly way.

Brief To design an app for creating, managing and completing challenges with social component focusing on the young audience. This app should be connected to AddGoals platform and reflect core brand values.
Solution To create a modern, colourful and trendy app with the clean and intuitive interface to connect young people with similar interests and promote main AddGoals platform.

Finding Challenge After downloading the app, user can discover nearby challenges without signing up. This is made to generate interest and show real content of the app. However, for accepting, creating or rating challenge user should register using a social network or existing AddGoals account. The user can filter challenges by the range of options such as difficulty, distance, duration and others. Each challenge has a task list and equipment list required for this challenge.

Social component The solution for social component and promoting main AddGoals platform is user profile where information about user’s achievements, accepted and completed challenges is displayed. Users that signed up with AddGoals account automatically get following their friend’s list and sending the invitation to their AddGoals friends. Along with this, there are global and local top lists of users based on the number of accepted challenges and completed rate.

Northern Rail App UNIVERSITY (GROUP) PROJECT • AUTUMN 2015

Brief To analyse and redesign existing Northern Rail app focusing mainly on live schedule section with using user-centred design approach. App concept should be designed in compliance with the visual brand style and reflect company core values.
Solution To develop an app in brand colours with applying user-centred design approach due to improving usability and global navigation. Along with this, save the functions and services of existing app. Personal responsibilities as a group member were collecting and analysing reviews, redesigning the structure, designing and prototyping the final app concept.

Analysis and Improvement Due to better understanding existing functions, content and usability of existing app reviews on App Store and Play Market were learned and analysed. This helped to identify the issues related to the app navigation, functionality and structure. Based on this, it was decided to abandon the welcome screen and change the app structure with adding new section “My profile�. Also, it was decided to change the global navigation to recommended by iOS guidelines pattern for improving the usability.

Final Prototype Due to improvement, the usability the concept design is based on iOS guidelines with adding a few minor style changes such as buttons form. Along with this, “buy in one swipe� and favourite options were added to make the app more user-friendly. Also, new functions such as clearing history, advance schedule time and delay cause were added based on App Store and Play Market reviews.
