Being Moved!!
Cradled Hearts!
Harvest of the Heart!
These creations just showed up one day! And it was about the same time that I started learning Qigong. At first, they were small doodles here and there but as my explorations about movement, inner and outer through the practice of Qigong grew, so did my gestures. They feel very connected to my sense of feeling alive and being moved, in many ways.!
After many years working on and with paper, I one day longed for something different. Shortly after recognizing this feeling, I came across a pottery class. So began a new exploration!! All I could do at the beginning was to hold the clay, cupped in both hands.! It felt like a quiet, peaceful mediation. ! And then it came, my hands knew what to do. Cradled in my hands the clay heart takes the shape of what moves me. ! Opening, closing hands, a stroke of brush, quick etched lines, pieces of glass - material, gestures embody what speaks to me in the moment. And the alchemy of fire in the kiln transforms these creations into a one of a kind Cradled Heart.
“Harvest of the Heart” is a series of works in encaustic monotype, ink, that emerged from a deeply felt connection to the bounty offered by nature.! It came out of an experience drawing in nature, with nature, that brought me back to my childhood roots. As my hand followed the contour of an apple, I was reminded of my childhood in France. Growing up in the countryside, harvesting from gardens and orchards were part of my daily life. ! “Harvest of the Heart” is a harvest of experiences in nature, across continents and time, experiences felt in my heart and expressed through color, gesture and a warm pool of wax.!
!
!
I appreciate the fluid quality of encaustic to enable to make one stroke marks, to layer colors, texture. It is a material that allows me to feel free with my gestures and brings a level of expressiveness I cherish.

Mixed Media Hearts!
Nature!
Food is Love in Any Language!
I create from a place of what speaks to me. Feeling, shapes, are starting points of inspiration. From there, I partner with materials that best embody what I seek to express in gesture, marks.!
Being outside is what my childhood was about. It is a connection that remains with me wherever I am.!
To keep creating no matter what. ! I have learned to honor this commitment to art making by adapting to circumstances, finding what is doable. Having an art journal is one of the ways I keep on expressing myself. It is a portable studio I cherish having.!
!
!
Fluidity both of process and material is something important to me. It is one of the reason I like, ink, encaustic, watercolors, and pieces of thread. Each also bring a different dimension to a piece when I combine them. !
!
Working in mixed media gives me the opportunity to be playful, free. !
!
! !
Having lived in various landscapes over the years, it is natural for me to be curious about my surroundings. I turn to them with ink, pen, paper in hand, I take note in the field. ! Those visual notes and my impressions are the starting points for my explorations with a variety of materials and in different media. They turn into a journey of exploration both creative and personal.!
! !
!
!
Food is Love in Any Language is a mixed media collage from my art journal. I find that creativity takes place anywhere, including the kitchen! My love for food, cooking, sharing, spans different cultures and it is very much a creative exploration I enjoy! 18/19
Blossoming!
! Each flower reflect an element in my life that I cherish and cultivate.! !
Roses are part of my family roots. My great-grandfather was the headgardener of a 290 acres urban park founded in 1856, in Lyon, France. His son, my maternal grandfather loved tending to roses. I grew up enjoying their aroma. When I moved to Bainbridge, I was thrilled to find rugosa roses growing along the shores! Roses bring beauty, well being into my life, in the forms of custom facial oil and culinary creations.!
!
My art explorations, which are inspired by what moves me are very much explorations from the heart. And the bleeding heart reminds me of that.!
!
In my practice of Qigong, I come across different set of movements, and one of my favorite one is called "Lotus rises from the water." I enjoy how gentle it feels and the peaceful feeling it gives me.
