New Century welcomes back the San Francisco Girls Chorus and introduces audiences to international genre-bending, klezmer clarinetist David Krakauer for a “Chrismukkah” holiday celebration. Program to include Bach’s Sheep May Safely Graze and Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring in addition to a variety of Christmas and Hanukah holiday favorites. “ David Krakauer is such an overwhelmingly expressive clarinetist who moves so seamlessly between different genres that for a minute you’d almost think that there’s no appreciable difference between jazz, klezmer and formal classical music.” The Wall Street Journal

Jennifer Higdon Renowned as a “leading light” among American composers (Fanfare Magazine) and “one of the most beloved contemporary composers anywhere” (Audiophile Audition), Jennifer Higdon is a major figure in contemporary classical music. 2010 Pulitzer Prize winner Higdon enjoys several hundred performances a year of her works with blue cathedral one of America’s most performed contemporary orchestral works. As 20152016 Featured Composer in residence with New Century, Jennifer Higdon will have a selection of works showcased on the opening September 2015 performances before returning in May 2016 for her World Premiere commission by New Century.
