MCCC Prelude Chorale MCCC Prelude was started in 2012 to enable the young singers in the Monroe Area to have a quality music program that was above and beyond the school music programs. Monroe County Community College graciously supported the decision to begin the chorale which is made up of fifth through eighth grade students. Our mission statement is: “to educate and inspire children to understand and value the art of singing and its lifelong impact on teamwork, dedication and the human spirit.” We have also been supported with scholarship money from United Way of Monroe, Kiwanis, as well as Foundation grants from MCCC to cover music and scholarships. Our choir has performed with The John Tyner Chorale, Carrilon Women’s Chorale, Chariscurro Men’s Chorale and the St. Paul’s United Methodist Praise Ringers. In May of 2014, the choir won first place and a Superior rating from Festival in the Parks at Cedar Point. In May of 2016, they took first place superior rating in Chicago for a music festival. This year they will travel to Ohio and Kentucky on a choir tour.
