Catherine Brodie

Catherine Brodie has a B.S. and an M.A in music education from Eastern Michigan University. She served as a graduate conductor for Emily Lowe and the EMU Madrigal Singers. She retired from Monroe public schools with 25 years of service in music education. She recently retired from Eastern Michigan University with 20 years of service. Mrs. Brodie is an Emeritus member of the Michigan School Vocal Music Association She Sweet B Photography served this organization as a member by Taylor St. Andre of adjudication committee, State S&E Supervisor, Honors Choir Supervisor, District Manager, and on the executive board as the Repertoire Chair person. She is the secretary for the American Choral Director’s Association in Michigan. Catherine has directed several State Honor’s Choirs, the latest of which was in 2018. Her high school choirs have also been invited to sing at the MSVMA and ACDA-MI Conference programs as well as Michigan Youth Arts Festival. In 1997, Catherine was chosen by the Michigan Music Teachers Association as teacher of the year for her work in Elementary Music Education. She was selected as teacher of the year in 2005 by the Michigan School Vocal Music Association. This October 26, 2018, Catherine will receive the Maynard Klein Award by the American Choral Director’s Association during a ceremony at Western Michigan University. Catherine is past conductor of several choirs at Monroe High School who consistently received superior ratings. She is also a past conductor of Oakland Singers, Toledo Opera Children’s Chorus, River Raisin Centre for the Arts, Cantate and the Eastern Michigan University Women’s Chorus. She is the current the conductor of the Monroe County Community College Agora Chorale as well as the MCCC Prelude, a children’s chorale. She is a member and assistant conductor of the John Tyner Chorale. She sings in St. Paul’s Methodist Chancel Choir and she directs the St. Paul’s United Methodist bell choir. Catherine and her husband Bill have three sons; Matthew, Andrew and Brian and three grandsons; Liam, Aidan and Caleb


Mark B Felder Fresh off conducting an encore piece with the Detroit Symphonic Orchestra, Mark B. Felder is starting his twenty-sixth year directing the band at Monroe County Community College. Before and during that time, he was the band director of the award-winning Jefferson High School Bands for twenty-nine years. Mark served twelve years in local and state offices of the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association, including President of District 12. He was named Band Director of the Year for District 12 of MSBOA. He also was named Music Alumnus Guest Conductor of the Year in 1988 for Eastern Michigan University. Mark has been musical director for over 150 musicals including 12 years as a musical director at Croswell Opera House in Adrian, Michigan. He received a nomination for the prestigious Jeff Award in Chicago for Best Musical Direction for the second national tour of Into the Woods by Stephen Sondheim. He is currently the musical director of the Dodworth Saxhorn Band, a Civil War-era brass band. Mark has been a guest lecturer at the University of Michigan, Eastern Michigan University, University of Toledo, and Adrian College. Mark is owner of Vivo Productions, a local recording studio. He performed for years with the Johnny Knorr Orchestra, and has toured with stars of the Lawrence Welk, Manhattan Transfer, and the Shrine Circus. Mark and his wife, Ann, have three children and one grandchild and live in Monroe, Michigan.

Ticket packages do not include VIP seating. No refunds or exchanges. Event information is subject to change at the discretion of MCCC. Discounts Groups of 15 or more, seniors, and MCCC staff and students can receive a $2 discount off the full ticket price when tickets are purchased in person at the MCCC Cashier’s Office prior to the day of the event. Discounts will not be given the day of the performance. Tickets are based on availability, so please make your plans early. Student Rush Monroe County Community College students with a valid student I.D. can purchase up to two tickets at half price 30 minutes before the start of any show. Catering for Groups In conjunction with one of our events, groups of 20 or more can take advantage of the beautiful spaces right inside the La-Z-Boy Center by holding a gathering in one of our reception areas.
