ASSOCIATE DEGREE IN NURSING PROGRAM (REGISTERED NURSING) • Prepares graduates to function as beginning registered nurse practitioners and members of the health care team in the care of acutely and chronically ill individuals with common illnesses. • Accredited by Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing and approved by the Michigan Board of Nursing. • Nearly 1,500 graduates since program inception 1974. • 2013 pass rate by MCCC grads on National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses of 93 percent is nearly 12 points higher than the national average.

PHLEBOTOMY TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATE PROGRAM • Prepares students to perform dermal and venipuncture techniques to collect blood specimens necessary in the diagnosis and treatment of a client. • Students who have completed MCCC’s program from 2007-2013 have a 100 percent pass rate American College for Clinical Pathology national phlebotomy certification exam.
PRACTICAL NURSE CERTIFICATE (LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSING) • Prepares students to function as beginning licensed practical nurses and members of the health team under the supervision of the registered nurse, physician or dentist, in the care of individuals with acute and chronic common illnesses. • More than 110 graduates since program approval by the Michigan Board of Nursing in 2006.
RESPIRATORY THERAPY PROGRAM • Prepares students to be instrumental in assisting a physician in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of a wide spectrum of disorders affecting the heart and lungs. • Accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Respiratory Care (Received Distinguished RRT Credentialing Award in 2013). • Nearly 400 graduates since program began in 1981. • The average pass rate for the first attempt on respiratory therapy board exams by 2011, 2012 and 2013 graduates versus the national average are: 1) CRT first attempt = 96.6 percent vs. 79.9 percent national 2) RRT written exam = 97.8 percent vs. 66.7 percent national 3) RRT clinical simulation exam = 86.9 percent vs. 60.7 percent national
CERTIFIED NURSE AIDE COURSE • Prepares students to fulfill the role of direct caregiver/nursing aide. The course emphasizes the skills and behaviors that are significant to employers of nurse aides, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation. • Program began in 2005, and was preceded by the medical assisting certificate, which was offered from 1998-2003.
• 2013 pass rate by MCCC grads on National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses was 100 percent (national average was 84.63 percent).
