To be alienated is to feel extreme lonliness whilst being surrounded by many. Majority of foreigners/ expats all over the world experience expat injustice. Expat opression is not limited to any job, social class, gender or even age. Alien is a pavilion design proposal aimed at raising awareness towards this issue. Common struggles and emotions between various expats have been combined to create an experience that would allow people to sympathize with them.

The pavilion proposed is designed to be a pure form, dependant on proportion and light to create the experiences. Divided into four zones, each made up of four walls forming a small space. Alien is a metaphor to the real life experiences of expats. Since all expats are exposed to the same circumstances yet deal with them differently, the same concept is applied in this pavilion. The four zones remain undefined of what each user is expected to experience in them.

Schwankaffe is a high end cafe design proposal based on the brand identity of the renowned Swarovski. The brand’s long-held core values were maintained and translated into interior architectural elements. This project respects enivronmental sustainability through it being an adaptive reuse project, repurposing a floor of a heritage building in Downtown Cairo.

Despondent is a pavilion design proposal aiming to target harassers and allow them to experience the various emotions that victims undergo as a result of their actions. The message covers all types of harassment through uniting all the common feelings experienced by victims.

This design experience leads to visitors exiting the pavilion feeling extreme levels of hopelessness, trauma and mental drainage. In times where a spark of hope appears to be visible, they are reminded that there is no way out.
The pavilion is divided into stages that portray the journey of a victim during and post harassment. Each stage is portrayed through an experience inside a repurposed container.
