Spring 2019 - Boston, MA.
Frederick Olmsted’s, Emerald Necklace consists of a 1,100-acre chain of parks linked by parkways & waterways in Boston & Brookline, MA.
This project is a Wellness Center in the Back Bay Fens. It aims to serve as a safe haven for college students, in which mental health issues are treated with alternative remedies & theraphies.
Design consists of a 5-level, monolithic concrete structure composed of arches & columns that are set on a circular plan, over a 25’ span grid. The materiality of the concrete provides for high thermal mass. With proper external insulation, thermal mass can help maintain comfortable temperatures inside yearround. A ramp wraps around the entire building, leading its users to experience the building & enter each program. An aluminum and glass dome makes up a double height cultivating space at the top level.

“baugruppen” Spring 2017 - Berlin, Germany
Is a typical housing style of Berlin, in which a group of people come together to build an apartment complex suited for their needs & interests. This project is a mixed use residential building that incorporates an art gallery, located in Oberschöneweide, a rather rough, industrial neighborhood on the outskirts of Eastern Berlin. The urban strategy was to build along the street edge, which maintains the integrity of the surrounding structures, while utilizing the remaining open, green space for the community. Visitors meander through the garden & encounter glances of the art gallery below through apertures on the ground. Likewise, residents experience a tranquil “walk in the park”, prior to reaching a private corridor that grants them access into the residencial building. The circulation maximizes interaction between 3 groups of people: - residents, - art gallery visitors - members of the community

As wood varies greatly from color and grain to flexibility, it has many applications, both practical & aesthetic.
