A kit of parts designed as a grid located in Perth Amboy, NJ. Located in The Landings, the 2009 planning project fell from fruition due to poor construction and had failed to provide the amenities promised for the community. By designing the community as a grid, these “parts may be adjusted for future planning purposes and ease. The grid has a main sensory pedestrian path comprised of various materials and large open spaces.

Perspectives highlighting the pedestrian walkway, mixed-use commercial and micro-unit housing alongside the waterfront area. The kit of parts allows for an easy integration of planting spaces for native animal species to thrive within the grid.

3-D assembly of a community feature to the waterfront area, “Floating Wetlands. Restoring the native habitats and enhancing green spaces within Perth Amboy could be achieved through community effort. These wetland modules are inexpensive and easy to build with 2x4’s, cinderblock, mesh, rope and floating material for plants to latch onto.

A proposed landscape design featuring low-maintenance evergreen and specimen plants. An easy modern approach to a small backyard space leading to a cozy nook under a hornbeam, and a comfortable amount of privacy from closeby neighbors screened in by arbovitae. Cor-ten steel planters hug the backyard deck and pavers allow access to the tool shed with colorful creeping thyme gorwing in between.
