The Letter Tiles

Did you know the letter tiles have voices too? The artists from Leverett gave them voices and the way to see as well. L see始s every thing that starts with L.The E see始s anything that starts with E. Lastly, the S see始s the students. !
" There is a very nice boy and he has a super great story about you, N. You are the school nose. Do you want to hear the story? "
There was a new teacher helper in the school and he and the student did not have much in common. So the little boy told him that the N is the school nose and then after that the teacher helper and the boy had so much in common. Then they told each other stories.

Judith Inglese was the artist and she had helpers like Jane Gruber, Rosemary Shermin, and Amanda Khalsa. It was many years ago. Close to 30 years ago. All the students at LES made a tile. "
We are making tiles in art class right now and you make the tiles the same way today. First you start with a slab of red clay and you put it through a machine that flattens it. The teacher has to work the crank and she cuts it into a perfect square. This isn始t the most fun part because we can始t work the machine, so it gets more interesting when we start to design our own tile.

Ella: I like the whale tile because the colors really show in that tile because it is really smooth. I wonder who made that tile and what they were thinking about when they made it? "
Devon and Geir: We both like the wolf tile because we both like wolves. I bet it was a boy who made it. The details of wolf始s habitat are really great. "
Some people like them because they are nice to look at. Others said they are colorful, creative, and cool. The tiles were made by LES students and they add to our school.

“So all the kids at LES like us?” L asked. “Yes,” said E, “I think someone is coming.” “We can talk another time,” gasped S before she hissed, “See you ssssssoon.”
