The Slide by Maria
Once there was a empty slide, not one person was sliding on it. It was time for recess at Leverett Elementary school and classes were coming outside. There was a tunnel that was under the slide. It was empty too. Then I heard Matthew and Myles say, “What should we do?” “I know! We should go through the tunnel,” said Matthew. “I could chase you,” said Myles to Matthew. So they ran to the slide. When they got there James, Gavin and Ben were already there at the top.

James was first. He sat down and got ready for a big slide. His hand on his lap, ready to roll! He put on his hood so he would not get snow on his head. He thought, “I’m going to make this a quick one. Here I go!”

“Whee!” He zoomed downed the slide. It was very slippery. There was a little bit of snow on the slide.

Smash went his body and feet when he got to the bottom of the slide. He bent his legs so he was kneeling and put his head backwards so he was looking back at his friends. He said, “Hey! This kind of hurts.” “Then sit up,” said Gavin.

But instead he hit the ground on his belly with his hands out wide and his legs apart. There was ice at the bottom which hurt a little. “Ouch! I gotta run because here comes Ben!� He pushed his body up and off of the ice. He looks around and sees Ben coming down the slide.

Zoom goes Ben. He speeds down the slide. As he was zooming his hair was flying back with his arms out to his sides.

He hit the bottom with a thump! Snow flew up and back down. He closed his eyes and mouth so he wouldn’t get snow in his eyes and mouth. He thought, “This hurts. This was a big one!” Bobby watched him and said, “Wow Ben! That was a speedy one.”

Last, Gavin went. He went face first down the slide. When he landed he said, “I should not have gone head first. It’s very icy. But it sure was fun! I wish it lasted longer.
