“We’re having some turbulence,” said the pilot. “I think everyone knows that by now,” I muttered. My ears were popping like crazy as we flew through the air in an airplane. I decided to close my eyes for a minute... We headed back to the airport. I was sooo happy that I was going to be in Mexico City soon. My dad I were going there because my dad was going to teach a class for a week and I really wanted to go too. I was happy that soon my ears would stop popping. My dad and I unbuckled our seat belts. He stood up to open the overhead compartment. He took our luggage out. We stood there with our luggage. After we walked out of the plane and into the airport, we had to wait in yet ANOTHER line “Ugggg!” I thought. We had already waited in a bunch of other really long lines.

Finally we got out of the airport and into a car instead of an airplane. We then buckled our seat belts just as my dad drove the car out of the airport. As we got closer and closer to the house we planned to stay in, I looked out the window. There were people selling all sorts of things in the middle of the road. For instance there we people selling flowers, cotton candy, and even rainbow colored clown wigs.

The car ride seemed to go by so fast. The next thing I knew I heard my dad said “We’re there!” I got out of the car and I saw the scariest thing in my life. It was a ....REALLY REALLY SCARY CLOWN!!!!! I didn't know what to do about it. It just stood there making really creepy balloon animals, that were almost as creepy as the clown itself, and I thought that should be impossible considering how creepy the clown looked. The clown was silent for a while but then I heard his creepy clown voice. Thank goodness the clown was speaking in Spanish so I couldn't understand him, But he said something to my dad and me. I just said, “Yeah,” in English. So then the clown got the memo that I could only speak English. Then the clown tried to speak in English as best as it could. It said, “Would you like a monkey balloon sweetie?” “Uhh.... ummm .....sure,” I said. Honestly I don’t know why I said this but I did. So there was nothing I could do about it, since the clown had already started making the monkey balloon, one twist of the long skinny balloon at a time. Then he drew a creepy smile on the monkey. When I saw the final product, the only thing that I was thinking was, where is the nearest pin, thumbtack, or needle? Somehow I busted out a thank you and went to go eat diner. 4

We had the best dessert ever. On the car ride there there were people selling quesadillas, and other things. But little did I know the clown was at the restaurant too!! Oh, my god! How could this be possible? But it was possible. I knew there was something wrong with the clown. The clown somehow knew where we were going. I was so scared!

So we ran to the cathedral to get away from the clown. We saw people taking cover under tents in the plaza, and the cathedral. Were they scared of the clown too? The cathedral was calm and cool. There was an altar made of gold and a ceiling of glass. My pulse began to slow. ! ! ! !

Suddenly I heard my name. As I opened my eyes, I realized that the scary clown was all a dream. Nothing had changed at all... until I looked over at my Dad. He looked shorter and fatter and a bit more like Diego Rivera. I looked at myself and suddenly I realized I looked more like Frieda Kahlo than I did before.! Maybe the clown was not just a dream! I decided not to worry about it for now. Suddenly I just wanted to paint!
