The Soccer Game By Yahsiel
Itʼs recess time at Leverett School! Me and my friends are starting a soccer game. Jonathan comes over. We look back. He says “Be careful because you could slip on the ice and snow.” There is a lot of gravel and dirt on the pavement and it gets in your sneakers and makes it hard to run without falling. We say, “O.K.” 2
I know I wonʼt run a lot during this game but will pass the ball more. I really donʼt want to fall with shorts on. Everyone else wore pants today but I like wearing shorts.
The ball goes flying into the snow. Liam usually kicks it in the goal but this time he kicks it too hard. Suddenly, Jameson falls. I walk over and ask, “Are you okay?”
Jameson gets up kind of slowly. He says “Iʼm fine.” He didnʼt notice that his knee was bleeding and we just kept playing.

The ball goes out of bounds again and the other team comes up with the ball. My team blocks it and takes the ball to the goal. Jameson kicks it in the goal. The score is 8 to 7. We are losing but we only need 2 goals to win. Jonathan yells, “Only 5 more minutes to play! We hurry to our places and start playing again. We score one more goal. I feel anxious because we need one more goal! Jameson passes the ball to me. I run to the goal and I kick the ball into the goal. We win as Jonathan blows the whistle. We run as fast as we can to the door so we can be first at lunch!
