arleigh Engelbrecht was born in Los Angeles, California, and has been working in Los Angeles’ film industry since 2014. Her work as a set decorator and production designer includes such clients as Netflix, Lakeshore Entertainment, and Hulu. She has held the position of set decorator or production designer for over 10 feature-length films and over 5 television and web series, all of which included IATSE union and non-union work. Her commercial work encompasses over 40 productions as a decorator or designer, with clients such as Disney, McDonald’s, and Booking.com. During this time, her work has also taken her all over the U.S., including New York, Texas, San Francisco, Wyoming, Idaho, Arkansas, Utah, and Oregon. In 2020, when the pandemic hit, Karleigh decided to take the time to up-skill and embark on a new adventure in Europe. Always having been an admirer of European cinema and possessing a passion for travel and new experiences, London became the perfect fit. Karleigh decided to apply to the National Film and Television School, where she graduated with a Master of Art in Production Design. She currently lives in London, where she balances work with visits to museums, travel, practicing pilates, and catching old films at the BFI as much as she can.

The Mortuary Collection.
Synopsis: The Mortuary Collection is a stylish, period-ambiguous horror anthology feature film starring Clancy Brown (The Shawshank Redemption), Caitlin Custer (Teen Wolf), and Jacob Elordi (Euphoria). A young woman, SAM, attends the funeral of a small boy and later approaches the mortician, MONTGOMERY DARK, about a job opening. She challenges him to share the scariest stories about death that he has witnessed in his position. The film is divided into four twisted tales.

Synopsis: All Night is a Hulu original teen comedy 10 episode series. Synopsis: Netflix’s internal production is a unique project created by CEO Reed Hastings. It’s purpose is to conduct interviews with high-ranking Netflix executives and creatives, broadcasting internally throughout the company every quarter. For this quarter, we have chosen a theme inspired by Michel Gondry’s distinct DIY and surreal cinematic style, as well as his body of work. We referenced specific moments from his career, including his feature film “Science of Sleep” and television show “Just Kidding” along with various music videos. All the sets were constructed on the Netflix campuses in Los Angeles and Los Gatos.

Synopsis: Know Your Place is a slice-of-life drama feature-length film set in present-day Seattle. ROBEL HAILE (15, Eritrean-American) and his best friend FAHMI TADESSE (15, Ethiopian-American) embark on a journey to deliver a suitcase containing medicine and cash to a friend who is traveling back to Eritrea due to a family member’s sudden illness. However, an unexpected twist transforms Robel’s straightforward errand into an odyssey through the rapidly gentrifying city.

Blood Simple.
Synopsis: This project served as an admission entry for The National Film and Television School, presenting a re-imagining of one of the primary sets (Marty’s Bar) from the Coen Brothers’ film Blood Simple. In the film, MARTY, the proprietor of this seedy bar in a quaint Texan town stumbles upon his wife’s illicit affair with one of his employees. This revelation triggers a tumultuous sequence of events, rife with misunderstandings, deception, and mischievous acts, as he concocts a scheme to orchestrate their demise.
