Ibiza – Let’s get the Party started
This party-loving island is home to mega clubs hosting Europe’s top DJs, mellow beach cafés where the nightly sunset becomes a magical experience, and fine water sports and activities. Find out more about Ibiza below: Activities Horse Riding. Located in a green valley in the north of the island, Ibiza Horse Valley is a sanctuary and riding center for mistreated horses, offering everything from half-day rides along the beach to full-day treks into the hills, and overnight stays. Owner David encourages you to get to know your horse, and you will feed it, groom it and be asked to tack up. Diving. Based at Marina Botafoch in Ibiza Town, Scuba Ibiza Diving runs the full shebang of courses, from three-hour intro sessions to the four-day Open Water Diver. There are around 30 dive sites to choose from, many of which are in the pristine Freus Marine Reserve, and offer exceptional visibility (up to 30 meters), a variety of landscapes including wrecks, caves, walls with gorgeous sea fans, spectacular shallow dives and sea grass beds. Boat Tour. The tiny island of Formentera lies just south of Ibiza, and its coastline and waters are often referred to as a taste of the Caribbean in the Mediterranean. A great way to see this for yourself is on a boat trip. Montymar Boat Tours offers a seven-hour trip, departing from Talamanca Bay, taking you along Ibiza’s coastline before crossing to Formentera. Partying Sant Antoni. From the port, head for the small rock-and-sand strip on the north shore to join hundreds of others for drinks at a string of lounge bars. Once the sun goes down, Café del Mar is the place to be, and the place to be seen – an Ibiza institution, it’s been serving up the same mix of ambient tunes, pricey drinks and staggering sunsets for more than 30 years. Platja d’en Bossa. A short hop from Ibiza City, Platja d’en Bossa is the island’s longest beach and is where the party set hangs out. For daytime clubbing, head to Ushuaïa – the open-air megaclub gets the party started early with superstar DJs such as David Guetta, Luciano and Sven Väth, and poolside lounging on Balinese beds with billowing white curtains. Check out the Sky Lounge for sparkling sea views. Cala Benirras. From Port de Sant Miquel, an unsealed road continues a couple of miles around the coast to the pretty bay of Cala Benirràs, with high, forested cliffs and a couple of bar-restaurants that back onto the beach. The clear water here makes this a popular spot for snorkelling. At dusk, particularly on Sundays, the party people come out with bongos to bang out a greeting to the sunset, something they have been doing for decades.
