KARTCOM NEWS #4 T

he weekend at Genk launched the 2014 European Championships for gearbox karts and the more dynamic than ever Academy Trophy. With 220 drivers and four categories at the same CIK meeting, there was a lot to do with the current format beginning on Thursday. To our knowledge, few teams made economies on testing, which didn't stop some congestion at the start of the races. In France, attention had been focused on the NSK with racing at Salbris and Le Mans.

Behind the scenes, work is already going smoothly behind the scenes on the 2015 schedules and regulations. A sign of the times, the competition between federal competitions and private organizations has never been greater and the balance has not yet been found in the interests of competitors. But it is not just the microcosm of karting but the transition period that we live in.

The next issue of Kartcom News is to be released in early August, just after the European KZ and KZ2 Championships Swedish round at Kristianstad, concluding a very busy July in France and internationally.

LeCont has won the 92nd edition of the Pikes Peak. Exactly a year after the success of Sébastien Loeb in 2013, another French has won in Colorado (USA) in the internationally famous “Race to the clouds”: Romain Dumas, for whom the third attempt has been the right one! FRENCH UNIVERSITY KARTING CHAMPIONSHIP WENDNESDAY 12 JUNE

100% ILE DE FRANCE PODIUM

LIVE TELEMETRY FROM RACE CLOUD

A friendly atmosphere, sportsmanship and respect, lively racing, a top-flight winner and sun made up the day on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at the Circuit de Mer, the venue for the seventh edition of the French University Championship. After many twists and turns, the national title was awarded to EDC Versailles who won by a hair's width from Novancia Paris and Pôle Universitaire Léonard de Vinci Versailles.

O

rganized by the French Motor Sports Federation and the French University Sports Federation with the active support of their regional structures, the French University Karting Championship's primary purpose is to open the discipline to the greatest number of people and the wider public. For seven years now it has been growing, and it establishes a bridge between two major players in French sport. 22 teams of three students competed at the Cap Karting de Mer complex under the

eyes of a particularly learned assembly, on the one hand, Messrs. Bourquin (Treasurer), Rognon (National Director) and Rebot (Director of the Regional Committee OrléansTours) for the FFSU; and also Mme. Raynaud (Member of the Executive Committee and President of the Central Regional Karting Commission) and Jean-Luc Roger (member of the Executive Committee and President of the Central Regional Motorsport Committee) for the FFSA.

Bulgarian company created by a Rotax importer with the support of telecoms technicians, Race Cloud presents its flagship telemetry system at Genk. Compatible for now with Apple's mobile devices, the Android version is in preparation. The live display tracks the engine speed, speed, trajectories, the steering wheel angle and time. The data is of course saved for later examination. The system includes an onboard box, connected to various sensors, in addition to a full display on the steering wheel. Race Cloud, currently in pre-order, will go into production this summer for first deliveries in September. All information is on racecloud.net

A TOP-THREE FOR TIMOTHY PEISSELON

AT THE OPENING ROUND OF THE FRENCH CHAMPIONSHIP

T

imothy was looking forward to the start of the most important competition of the season: the French Championship. He needed to learn the Ostricourt circuit in northern France, but the southern driver did not disappoint. Racing in 2014 in Cadet, the largest category for drivers under 15 years old, Timothy Peisselon was well prepared for this event. In the leading group from qualifying (4th fastest time), he fought throughout the weekend at the front: 5th after the heats, fourth in the prefinal and a brilliant second in the final! "My start was difficult, because I was on outside of the track, but everything went well for me in the first two laps, as I able to quickly return to second position," said Timothy. "With Enzo Valente, we exchanged positions, which allowed the leader Maxime Sabin go a little ahead. After that, I was often faster than him, but he was too far ahead for me to catch up." Second at the finish as in the provisional French Championship which is run over three meetings, Timothy Peisselon has certainly raised his morale and has only one desire: to continue the momentum.

THE PODIUM GETS AWAY FROM ETEKI IN CADET The winner at Arvillers and Angerville in the first two races of the Stars of Karting Series that currently dominates in the Cadet category, Adam Eteki hoped to get a result at Ostricourt on June 1st for the opening round of the French Championship. Unfortunately, a racing incident upset his plans substantially despite his performance.

D

uring the heats Eteki did well by finishing 1st, 2nd and 3rd in his three outings, which resulted in second place on the grid for the prefinal. However at Ostricourt it is difficult to make a good start from the outside. Adam realized he was blocked and dropped to 8th place after the first lap! The leading group was able to get ahead and the driver from the SG Drivers team could do no better than fifth despite lap times among the best, at the wheel of his CRG chassis. In the final, this time Adam was on the right side of the track and he gained a place on the first lap. While his chances of getting on the podium seemed real, a collision caused him to retire on the next lap. No doubt Adam Eteki will thirst for revenge in the next races of the French Cadet Championship.

Development work has been relentless in recent months, so we are always ready to meet our goals in order to grow our list of results even further."

INTERVIEW

Interview with

MORGAN CARON by Frédéric Billet / © Photo KSP - Philippe Kalmès

FRENCH F4 CHAMPIONSHIP AND AUTO SPORT ACADEMY 2014 The National Technical Director of the FFSA since 2008, Morgan Caron is responsible for the development of high-level motorsport. As such he is responsible for the FFSA French teams and supervises the French F4 Championship and the Auto Sport Academy. KCN: How is French F4 going in 2014? Morgan Caron: The 2014 season is well underway with a good entry of 25 drivers, mostly foreigners as there are only eight French, and a very high standard this year. The Australian Joseph Mawson surprised everyone in the first event at Le Mans, at the home of the Auto Sport Academy, by scoring a very good result although he was not really noticed during the winter tests. At the major event of the season, the race at Pau saw the rise of Dorian Boccolacci who has also taken the lead in the Championship. It was easy to lose out in the streets of Pau, and those who have managed this meeting adroitly, like Erwan Julé, are not numerous. The Danish driver Lasse Sorensen, brother of the Formula Renault 3.5 driver, is one of the most serious contenders, as well as two drivers who are in their second year, the Anglo-Swiss Felix Hirsiger and the French Amaury Richard.

KCN: The FIA has launched its own definition of F4 via the Italian Championship. Are it's leaders interested in the French version? Morgan Caron: Jean Todt, Gerhard Berger and Frédéric Bertrand visited us at the French F4 Championship awning at Pau. The FIA President then took advantage of his trip to the 24 Hours of Le Mans to find out about the various activities of the Auto Sport Academy with the President of the FFSA, Nicolas Deschaux. The federal training centre, both the drivers, mechanics and supervisory staff, saw a lot of interest from the FIA, it is a unique concept of its kind that has a strong future. Regarding F4 itself, France remains committed to one-make competition. On the one hand it's a true training system that has been proven over 20 years by putting many of the students on the path to Formula 1. Moreover

this is the only way to provide a singleseater season at such a high standard as cheaply. We currently charge less than € 60,000 per annum before tax and we have a €160,000 endowment to distribute at the end of the season. We offer extremely close cars: our tolerance is + or - 0.1 km / h at full speed among all of the cars. We also increased safety by putting tethers on wheels, removable seats and a rear crash box. However, the discussions are open with the FIA on several points. F4 is in a competitive world where we want to continue to play an important role.

DALE

FAULTLESS IN KZ2

Andrea Dalè (CRG / Maxter) dominated the first round of the European KZ2 Championship unchallenged. Pole man against the clock, he took four victorious heats before winning prefinal 1, then the final, ahead of his opponents. His main competitors have been Marijn Kremers (Birel / TM), Jan Midrla (Birel / TM) and Andreas Hansen (Tony Kart / Vortex) who was 2nd in the final. Fabian Federer (CRG / Maxter) took advantage of a rebound of seven places to reach the third step of the podium, while Finn Kooijman (CRG / TM) finished 4th and Simas Juodvirsis (Energy / Maxter) 5th after regaining 24 places.

INTERNATIONAL

ARDIGO TRIUMPHS IN KZ

Kozlinski (Intrepid / TM) opened the scoring against the clock ahead of Jonathan Thonon (Praga / Parilla) and Paolo De Conto (Birel / TM). Rick Dreezen (Zanardi / Parilla) joined Kozlinski in the intermediate classification while Marco Ardigo (Tony Kart / Vortex) was third. The Italian won the prefinal ahead of Thonon and Kozlinski. The twists came thick and fast in the final. A clash between Thonon and Kozlinski allowed Dreezen to take second, De Conto broke down with two laps to go. Ardigo was on the top step followed by Dreezen and Jordon Lennox-Lamb (CRG / Maxter) ahead of Jorrit Pex (CRG / TM) and Ben Hanley (ART GP / TM).

NIELSEN ESCAPES IN KF

Nicklas Nielsen (Kosmic / Vortex) has gained 9 points on Callum Ilott (Zanardi / Parilla). The poleman Lando Norris (FA Kart / Vortex) had to retire due to a technical problem when victory seemed within

reach in the final. The winner of all of his Qualifying Heats, Ilott was a formidable opponent to Nielsen. The duel lasted until the finish line, to the benefit of Nielsen. A formidable finisher, Tom Joyner (Zanardi /

Parilla) took the third step of the podium, while Alessio Lorandi (Tony Kart / Parilla), coming through the repechage, managed to finish fourth. Hannes Janker (Zanardi / Parilla) was in the top five until the prefinal.

Aubry reversed his average 17th in qualifying in the first heat with a 4th position which revealed his ambitions, but only completed a few metres in the second race. This was repeated in the prefinal where he could do no better than 25th. Never as good as when all hope seems lost, Gabriel managed to finish a magical final. After a cautious start, he went on the attack with classic mastery. With a gain of 18 places, the French driver passed the chequered flag in 7th position with the double satisfaction of having set the fastest lap of the race and taken by far the best result in his team. It puts him in 12th position in the championship standings before the final round in late August in England. Very fast, and excellent at managing his tyres, Aubry is now perfectly able to take the deserved reward of a great victory, as long as fortune is not relentlessly against him. GABI-AUBRY.FR

fter a black day at Zuera where his excellent performance, a rise from 57th in qualifying to 11th place after the heats, was marred by a highly questionable penalty in the prefinal and retirement in the final, Gabriel Aubry and his factory Tony Kart / Vortex expressed themselves better in Belgium at Genk at the third round of the 2014 European KF Championship. However the races experienced a rarely seen level of agitation in the absence of effective reactions from officials.

MAXIME POTTY: BOTH RESULTS AND CRASHES AT GENK T

he winner of the 2013 CIKFIA Academy Trophy is racing this year in the European KF Championship, driving a Kosmic / Parilla at RGP Racing. Maxime Potty learned the category at La Conca in the first of four European meetings, not in an obvious position to compete against the best. The round at Genk allowed him to achieve quite significant results despite widespread agitation in the pack, sparking numerous skirmishes.

and was up to 7th on the first lap when his engine let go because of a faulty carburetor. 12th and 15th in the middle of the pack in the next two heats, he gained ground but still had to go through the repechage on Saturday evening, a particularly eventful race which was interrupted on the first lap by a red flag. Maxime had just enough time to make necessary repairs (steering column and track rods bent in the big crash at the first corner) before the restart. He then had a great start, returned to the front Fast during free practice, Maxime missed and kept 2nd position until the finish. out in qualifying with a chassis set-up that wasn't really suitable. He started Finally qualified for the finals, Maxime well, after 25th position on the grid, gave each the maximum at the start, but

was delayed by several clashes. In the Prefinal, he was already in 19th position on the first lap, a gain of 11 places, when he was pushed badly and finished with difficulty at the back. In the final, the first turn was rough and he fell further back before recovering to 23rd position with 10 places gained. It has been difficult in KF races this year and also explosive. But Maxime has demonstrated a level of performance that had clearly improved at Genk. The young Belgian driver is highly motivated to improve his score at the next competition in England, while already thinking about the 2015 season ...

DARRAS COMFORTABLE

WITH ART GP

AT GENK J ulien Darras competed in his first race in his new team ART Grand Prix at Genk. His feeling for the equipment and the Italian team was immediately good. "The ART GP chassis suits my driving," explained the Team France driver. "The front goes into corners easily and the braking power surprised me. This allowed me to be more aggressive in the race, and I'm not unhappy at all with this first competition with ART GP. " 22nd in qualifying, 3 tenths from pole, Julien had to fight in a very nervous pack during the heats of the third round of the European KF Championship. Often hit on the first lap, he nevertheless managed to gain ground, 11 places in the

first and nine in the second with the fastest lap. He made a very good start in the last, 5th on the first lap, he then lost ground due to a technical problem. The Prefinal was not easy to manage, with a first lap complicated by clashes and many fights then. 20th on the grid for the final, Julien made a great start and was already in the top 10 on the second lap. He even got up to 5th place shortly after the halfway point and crossed the finish line in sixth position. "This is a good start, the race was not easy with all these crashes ... I am 15th in the championship with six places gained, but my goal is the podium and the first step! "

BAS LAMMERS RETRIEVES A TOP 10 IN THE EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP AT GENK BASLAMMERS.COM

T

he first of the three events of the CIK-FIA European KZ Championship did not bring the Dutchman Bas Lammers all the satisfaction he expected at the event. The vagaries of racing seriously disrupted his progress on the Belgian circuit of Genk. But his incredible comeback to eighth position in the final is testament to his ambition and the potential of his Formula K / Parilla equipment. A bit too far back in qualifying with 16th, Lammers soon regained ground in the first heat and posted the fastest lap of the race. Bad luck prevented him from doing well in the second and final heat when his transmission broke a few metres before the finish line which he managed to cross under his momentum, but he was significantly delayed. Starting on the 9th row in the prefinal, Bas was involved in an accident at the first corner and had to retire. The situation was therefore particularly difficult in the final with 29th place on the

grid. But Lammers' reputation as a fighter was again confirmed in a breathless race. After a great start and already 20th at the end of the first lap, the Dutch driver continued to attack throughout the 23 laps. And he managed to gain another 12 places - a total gain of 22 places - and took the checquered flag in eighth position, a big achievement. "I'm not very satisfied with this meeting, I had other ambitions when I arrived at Genk ..." commented the Dutch champion later. "I have not had it all my own way! Despite this, I was able to repeatedly demonstrate the high performance level of my Formula K with a Parilla engine prepared by Falcon RS - Tec-Sav Engineering. The fastest lap in the first heat was a great reward for the whole team. After a disastrous prefinal, I managed to finish eighth, while the leading group had pulled away. I am currently 9th in the standings in the European Championship. I used my joker in Belgium, so the two upcoming races in Germany and Sweden will be decisive!

T

he third round of the European KF Championship took place last weekend in Belgium at Genk. Several factors made it a competition that was agitated beyond what was reasonable. The four drivers from the Ricky Flynn Motorsport team faced unfavourable conditions in which to fully exploit the high level of performance of their FA Kart / Vortex machinery. Lando Norris opened the battle with the fastest time in qualifying, a lap of 53'' 549 which remained the absolute record of the meeting in KF. Lando then fought against formidable opponents in the heats and took two wins out of three races. Third in the prefinal with a new fastest lap, he was on course to win the final, leading by nearly a second at the halfway point when he was forced to retire. RICKYFLYNNMOTORSPORT.CO.UK

Jehan Daruvala and Ollie Norris lost a lot of places on the first lap of the prefinal and although Jehan managed to reverse some of the disadvantage, ranking 19th, Ollie had to retire before the end. He resumed in fine style with a superb final gain of 24 places, the largest increase of the race to get into the top 10 and take 9th position at the chequered flag. Jehan took back 11 places, finishing 8th. Guan Yu Zhou, although he set a good 11th fastest time in qualifying, suffered attacks in the heats and retired twice. His only clear run allowed him to get into the top five. Finally, a clash in the repechage deprived him of the finals despite a big rise and the fastest lap of the race.

EXCELLENT RESULTS FOR CPB SPORT IN THE EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP AT GENK

T

he Italian preparation campaign for CPB Sport early in the season helped Paul Bizalion's team, supported by Alpha Karting, begin the 2014 European KZ2 Championship successfully. A newcomer to international competition, CPB Sport played spoilsport in the early WSK rounds and the Swedish driver Douglas Lundberg began with an excellent 3rd position in the standings of the European KZ2 championship for the team from Ales at Genk. The outstanding international performance of the Alpha chassis for CPB Sport attracted the attention of many observers, and the team started at the European Championship first round with five drivers at Genk. The team's top driver, Douglas Lundberg, powered in Belgium by a Parilla Screamer from Falcon RS Tec-Sav Engineering, didn't miss out at his first European event of the season. 5th fastest in qualifying, Douglas won two heats and finished third in pre-final 1 despite a collision. Again with a good start in the final, the Swede was in 2nd place for a long time behind an untouchable leader before having to slow down at the end, with a bent steering column after an excessive attack from an opponent. Douglas's disappointment of not being able to demonstrate his potential was tempered by his superb 3rd place in the championship and the hope of an exciting result at Wackersdorf. But at CPB Sport, satisfaction didn't only come from the No. 1 driver. Other members of the team had the opportunity to shine at the wheel of ruthlessly efficient equipment using TM engines prepared by Bruno Daldosso. A new recruit to CPB, the Polish driver Pawel Myszkier was at his first European Championship event, and finished very well after a painful start to the event. 41st after heats which were marred by incidents on the track, Pawel gave his best in the finals. First was a

feat in pre-final 1, regaining 12 places with the fastest lap! Pawel continued his momentum in the final, with a rise of six places and an 11th place finish, allowing him to get near the top 10 in the championship. Finally recovered after a rib injury early in the year, Charly Bizalion easily qualified for the final where he gained back 10 places to take 18th position at the checquered flag, his best result at this level so far, and the best French performance in KZ2. Thomas Maingre lacked a little to get into the final despite his efforts to gain 8 places in pre-final 1. Thomas has nevertheless made gains this year. Louis Bonsaudo managed to significantly improve his times throughout the meeting and is also getting nearer the top half of the table. Everyone at CPB is motivated to do even better in mid-July on the German track of Wackersdorf, with increased personal goals for each member of the young French team.

PRAGA KART: PERFORMANCE IN ALL CATEGORIES PRAGAGLOBAL.COM

A

lthough the official Praga Kart team is still in search of major victories, the performance of the Praga / Parilla package has been improving steadily in every international category. The young drivers in KF and KF-Junior have definitely made their mark in style in recent weeks while the older drivers stand out in KZ and KZ2. The only thing that remains is to cap this improvement with victories like Thonon could have been capable of in Belgium. The young Belgian driver Rasmus Lindh significantly raised the tone from the beginning of the season, where he started out in international competition in KFJunior. Repeatedly running in the top 10, his relative lack of experience remains a handicap for the podium positions. In any case, the Praga Kart Racing Team has done an excellent job in improving its machines to a high level, which also applies in KF. Karol Dabski achieved a good performance at Zuera during the second round of the European Championship, starting with a seventh fastest in qualifying and continuing into sixth position in the intermediate classification. His 13th and 16th place in the final at La Conca and Genk, as honourable as they are, don't yet reflect the full potential of the team. Jonathan Thonon was well on target for victory in KZ in the first European event in Genk. Second in qualifying and second in the prefinal, his strategy would have enabled him to win if there hadn't been a collision early in the race. Also on the pace, Patrik Hajek could not enjoy his steep climb of 12 places in the prefinal as he also retired in the final. The 1st and 3rd fastest times in the Prefinal for these two experienced drivers is indicative of the current quality of the Praga / Parilla karts. The intensity of the battle didn't make Jorge Pescador's task in KZ2 easy although he showed interesting competitiveness in the top 10 before the finals.

THE FRENCH RAISE THE BAR AT GENK

T

he third round of the European KF Championship in 2014 saw two of the three competing French drivers, Darras and Aubry, shine in the top 10 of a lively international competition, while Gonzalez, although with good pace, was the victim of several twists of fate. At the same time, the first round of the Academy Trophy saw rapid improvement for the young Alexander Vromant. "Restless" is a weak word to describe the battles in the European peloton at this competition in Belgium. It was as if many of the competitors had lost their sense of proportion in the opening laps of each race, while the track at Genk requires a lot of composure to safely negotiate the starts and the first righthand corner complex which follows. Stronger management from the officials would not have gone amiss in these conditions ... Changing equipment and team, Julien Darras, now at the factory ART Grand Prix team, has regained a sense of attack that had earned him the title of Italian Champion in 2013. More comfortable driving his Art GP / TM, Julien was in midfield early in the meeting in the heart of the battle, before the decisive final. However, a fastest lap and interesting results in the heats revealed a potential that was waiting to bear fruit. Fortunately this was

the case in the final, when Julien moved up from 20th to 6th position. The points collected at this event revived his championship position 15th - but especially restored his confidence and ambitions coming up to the end of the season. For Gabriel Aubry (Tony Kart / Vortex), the situation was even less promising on the starting grid for the final where he was in 25th place. He he finished 4th in one of his three heats before going off a few metres after the start in the next. The pre-final hardly brought improvement as he remained mired in futile struggles at the back of the pack. But in the final the young Aubry still demonstrated that he had strength in adversity by gaining no less than 18 places in 23 laps to cross the finish line in 7th place, with the satisfaction of the fastest time of the race, which allowed him to move up to 12th position in the championship. 25th in qualifying, Nicolas Gonzalez (Kosmic / Parilla) surprised everyone by taking 2nd place in his first qualifying heat, a gain of 11 places. He was excluded by a black flag in the second, although his responsibility was far from clear as he cut the track after a collision at the first corner, as did many others during the meeting. 28th in the intermediate classification, Nicolas moved up to 14th place in the pre-final, but two

incidents in the final decided the outcome. He finished the event in an anonymous 24th position. The driver from the 1015 Programme selected to represent France in the CIKFIA Karting Academy Trophy, Alexander Vromant was ViceChampion of France in Cadet in 2012 and has experience of National class races last season to his credit when he got to Genk. He had much to learn in international competition, on the onemake Parolin chassis and FIM engine, with Bridgestone tyres, and the field was not lacking in experienced candidates. Alexander showed good potential starting from 36th in qualifying, to consistently move up to the top 10 in the final, improving his performance and avoiding all the pitfalls of the event. An encouraging result that should give him confidence and allow him to aim higher very soon.

CIK-FIA ACADEMY TROPHY - GENK

BIG SUCCESS FOR THE FIRST EVENT

OF THE 2014 ACADEMY TROPHY PAROLINRACING.COM

A

fter a season of transition, the CIK-FIA has given a new impetus to the Academy Trophy in 2014. Through well-organized promotion, the entry was quickly filled almost to capacity at the first event held at Genk in Belgium. For Parolin Racing Kart, the technical partner to the Trophy since its inception in 2010, there is the satisfaction of facilitating the intense competition that fulfilled all of its promises. The 2014 CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy shows a welcome revival for the one-make formula which was launched in 2010. The amount of drivers and nations engaged in the competition marks the interest in the concept, supported from the outset by Parolin Racing Kart, winner of the tender of the international federation. This year, no less than 49 participants - almost 50 - from 29 countries worldwide, with four continents represented, met at Genk. Among them were already well experienced drivers but especially newcomers to international competition. The 2014 Trophy also saw the emergence of nations that haven't been well-represented in Karting so far like South Korea, Iran, Israel and Lebanon, alongside heavyweights such as the USA, Brazil, Turkey, Russia, China and Japan. With reliable, efficient and above all perfectly equal equipment that consists of the chassis from Parolin, FIM engines and Bridgestone tyres, as well as the know-how of the Parolin Racing Kart team, participants were able to compete on equal terms during a high-level competition. The Dutchman Richard Verschoor was fastest in qualifying ahead of the British driver Ross Martin and the Brazilian Murilo Della Coletta. Verschoor confirmed his dominance in the heats,

joined in second position by compatriot Rinus Van Kalmthout, while the Turkish driver Berkay Besler slipped into 3rd place. The situation changed during the pre-final with victory for Besler ahead of the Briton Oliver York and the South African Bradley Lienbenberg. In the final, the hierarchy changed again as the Japanese Kakunoshin Ota quickly moved ahead and won the race. Van Kalmthout finally returned to second position ahead of Martin, who had risen from 16th place. The top 10 finally included 9 different countries, with five Asians and four Europeans and South Americans, half making their International Karting debut on this occasion, which was the case for the winner. Whether they are beginners or experienced competitors, they and their mechanics have very much enjoyed the format of the event and the equipment that was provided for them. Caused by the intensity of the fighting on the track, including the dreaded first corner of the track at Genk, rare technical problems were quickly fixed by the Parolin staff who know everything about it. "We are very excited after the first round of the 2014 Academy Trophy," admitted Marco Parolin. "The CIK-FIA did a great job of promotion to attract new participants. The motivation of the international bodies goes straight to the heart and we thank them for their efforts and their confidence. The consistency of the field is a reward and we are convinced that this is just the beginning. An International one-make formula like the Academy Trophy, requiring few major expenses for competitors, deserves a prominent place in today's karting. We have believed in it from the beginning and are ready to unveil the concept in several countries. "

CRETON WITHOUT ARGUMENT

Harald Creton (Tony Kart) quickly established his dominion, up to the final, where he consistently took the top of the podium after a faultless event. Nathan Hedouin (Sodi) and Enzo Coursimault were more threatening in the prefinal, Emilien Carde (Kosmic) led the chase in the final, while holding off the return

of Louis-Ferdinand Simmenauer (Tony Kart). Hedouin recovered 4th place at the expense of Anthony Coudert (Kosmic) at the very end of the race, while Tom Leuillet (Birel) recovered from a long way back in 6th position.

REVENGE FOR BREYSSE

IN X30 SENIOR

Only John Barbe (Tony Kart) was able to overtake the leader for a lap, but had to give up at the end of the final after contact with Jeremy Lopes, the winner at Varennes. Jeoffrey Rouchy (CRG) and Thomas Ricci (Tony Kart) led the pack and ensured the podium coveted by Anthony Cout (Alpha).

ROTAX MAX

EVA BENES FINALLY REWARDED!

Eva Benes (Kosmic) finally won a long awaited race after Corentin Collignon's (Tony Kart) victory was downgraded by an administrative problem. Vincent Fraisse and Hubert Petit (Sodi) were penalized in the prefinal, but that did not stop them from achieving incredible recoveries of 27 and 25 places in the final, to take 4th and 5th. Thomas Benisri (Tony Kart) and Gautier Becq (Sodi) were in the top three after difficult heats. Nicolas Picot (Sodi), who won the pre-final, dropped out in the final.

ROTAX MASTER

CHARON, THE FIGHTER

Dominant throughout the meeting, Jeremiah Charon (Tony Kart) escaped to victory in the final. Behind him the battle included Nicolas Duchateau (Tecno) and Olivier Paris (Sodi), Charly Hipp (Tony Kart) and Florent Lambert (Tony Kart) who was not far off. Duchateau finally took second position in front of his three rivals.

COURSAULT DOMINATES DE RUWE

At Salbris Alexis Coursault (Birel), at his home track, managed to dominate the favourite Xen De Ruwe (ART GP) who had qualified on pole and finished the heats 1st. But in the prefinal Coursault took control of the pack and confirmed an irresistible result. De Ruwe also lost out to Maxime Gravouille (Sodi) who gained2nd place in the final.

KRA 7-11 MAHÉ EXTENDS HIS LEAGHT F

inishes were common in this highly competitive category. From race 1, the top four finished grouped in a second. Guillaume Treillard de Quinemont gave his all in his effort to win against Faustin Mahé, the polesitter Victor Bernier and Arthur Mangin, who was still leader in mid-race. Starting on pole, Treillard de Quinemont had a much harder race 2 and lost the lead to Mahé. Simon Jouniaux and Arthur Mangin were penalized for not complying with the starting procedure, leaving Bernier and Elliott Vayron on the podium at their expense. In 4th place Thibault returned to Schencke. Mahé confirmed his form with another success in race 3 major against the major players of the meeting: Mangin, Jouniaux and Treillard de Quinemont.

KRA 11-15 LECLERC RETURNS ON COLOMES A

lthough Alvis Ang dominated both races on Saturday, Sunday was much more uncertain. Race 3 in particular gave rise to a great duel between Bastien Flahaut, who started on pole, Alexandre Colomes, Arthur Leclerc and Benjamin Gonzalez. Leclerc deservedly won ahead of Flahaut and Colomes. Initially 2nd, Gonzalez was penalized three places for noncompliance at the start, but took his revenge by winning race 4 despite Leclerc's comeback. Neo Lambert (3rd in race 2), Guillaume Emmanuel Permal and Sacha Hebrard also deserve mentions.

FFSA Superkart NOGARO by Jean Christophe Bourlat / © Photo KSP - Eric Sevère

DOUBLE FOR TRANSFORMED CYRIL VAYSSIÉ T

he Superkarts found themselves in an extreme contrast at the third round of the French Championship alongside the truck races, including those of the FIA European Championship, which brought great pleasure to the public.

have some well-known brands led by established stars, but they are starting to be pushed around by a new wave of young Rookies (like the female driver S. Halm who has been recognised by the FFSA, the 17 year old hopeful B. Major, etc..) and Superkart 2014 has experienced favourites The event started in an early heat wave. and a lot of renewal. Indeed there have Unexpectedly similar, the Racing Trucks never been so many "Rookies" as there

was at the circuit of Gers and the quality of their performance was surprising. Three drivers designated as favourites did not disappoint, and they monopolised the podium on this weekend. Temperatures of 40 ° on the track on Saturday caused some concern over the proper carburetion and excessive water temperatures, technical

factors which caused caution in the search for the fastest time. Following a clutch problem, Alexandre Sébastia (Anderson / FPE) resolved to position himself in the slower second session. Cyril Vayssié made his debut in the colours of MSkart-VM and seemed to have the tyres working well. Although he was serene and there were no mechanical problems under the awning of the Dutch MS team representative, he found that the chassis was less easy to adjust than his PVP. A few laps were enough for Etienne Aebischer (PVP / FPE) to clinch his first official pole with a gap to the rest (1'26'' 983'') Quite far, however, off the track record.

RACE 1

Almost all drivers completed the warm up, but Sébastia went off. The first race was against the clock to reach the grid to join his opponents. The conditions were more favourable than previously. Kevin Busby had replaced everything on his FPE but

its gearbox stranded him. He wasn't the only one to have a baptism of fire, Teddy Legendre didn't start (Carburettor), for maximum frustration. At the start Vayssié C. and E. Aebischer unleashed the pack. Excellent start for M. Oliveira (Rookie). A. Sebastia was on the third row, and although he had no time to adjust the frame and change the pads, he managed smoothly. In front the leading duo remained tight, Aebischer pulled out under braking at the aerodrome but hesitated. Sébastia was at a distance but did not force anything. Later, J. Goullancourt had a lot of power (engine DEA) and finally seemed to have found the right set-up, but it cut out at full load. The field was in a straight line and he was trying to gain lost places in the midrange and at corners. The Swiss P.Gerber and the British C. Kinsey were ahead of Oliveira in the places of honour, until a stubborn bolt ended things for Gerber. On the penultimate lap Aebischer lost the tow, and dropped a second. Sebastia was satisfied and reassured in 3rd, he saved maximum

performance. Vayssié started in the best way at his new team where he was now a potential leader.

RACE 2

The second race came down to a duel between three, including Sebastia who had time to review his equipment and this time could compete on equal terms with his two opponents. Aebischer grew bolder, he took the lead of the race early on. Vayssié and Sebastia passed each other and reached the end of straight together, on the fourth lap going round the outside of the leader. Vayssié gradually accelerated the pace, and started to get away from halfway. J. Goullancourt closed on Aebischer. The gaps stabilised between the four players with none able to really attack their direct competitor. Further back, Oliveira wants to prove himself and C. Kinsey was excluded for failing to go into the parc fermé. We also saw an excellent performance from Teddy Legendre who finally finished 6th! MEDIASUPERKART.COM

NATIONAL SERIES KARTING MAJOR STEP AT

LE MANS NS-KARTING.COM

KEY POINTS OF THE WEEKEND Third of the four races of the season Date: 27th and 28th June 2014 Location: Le Mans International Karting Circuit 1368 m Entry: 188 drivers - 7 categories A weekend under perfect weather but capricious track conditions. New winners, but the leaders remain in place in the championship. Suspense for the end of the season. Passionate with a lot of overtaking.

NATIONAL

GREAT VICTORY

FOR HÉDOUIN IN NATIONALE

After the surprise pole position for Brian Ancher (Kosmic), Harald Creton (Tony Kart) took control in the heats and the prefinal. But the final turned to the advantage of Nathan HĂŠdouin (Sodi), fighting with Adrien Renaudin (Sodi) early in the race. The imperious Hedouin then disappeared to victory, leaving Renaudin to battle with Emilien Carde (Kosmic), with Jean-Baptiste Simmenauer (Tony Kart) following closely. In the end, Carde took 2nd place at the expense of Renaudin.

COMPĂˆRE SHINES IN X30 Luca Midali (Sodi) was the pole sitter, Jeremy Lopes (Tony Kart) the winner in the prefinal, and Kevin Breysse (ART GP) and Giacomo Napolitano (Tony Kart) were formidable opponents in X30 Senior. This did not stop Victor Compere (Kosmic) successfully completing his NSK debut by winning an indisputable victory in the final after leading in the heats. Breysse scored important points for the championship, maintaining 2nd place under pressure from Napolitano and Lopes.

NATIONAL

ROTAX MAX

COMEBACK FOR COUSIN

The reigning Champion, Jules Cousin (FA Kart) has finally found the route to success. The leader after the heats, he won against Nicolas Picot (Sodi) in the prefinal on a tricky track with a bold tyre choice. In the final, on a wet track, he was on his own at the finish. Hubert Petit (Tony Kart) got the better of Thomas Hodier (Tony Kart) and Nicolas Picot (Sodi) before Matthew Melet (Tony Kart) seized 3rd place.

ROTAX MASTER

DUCHATEAU TAMES THE ELEMENTS

Jacques Gautier (Sodi) took pole position, Jeremiah Charon (Tony Kart) emerged as the leader at the end of the heats, Charly Hipp (Tony Kart) triumphed in the prefinal, but Nicolas Duchateau (Tecno) took the lead in the closing laps of the final when a downpour complicated the task for Charon, the leader so far. Starting 13th party, Olivier Paris (Sodi) took the opportunity to get second place ahead of Charly Paquier (Tony Kart).

NATIONAL

DE RUWE WINS AGAINST ANSTETT IN DD2

Alexandre Anstett (Sodi) gave the leader Xen De Ruwe a hard time, now on Intrepid. The polesitter Maxime Gravouille (Sodi) retired at the start of the final, Anstett contested the lead with De Ruwe, but the Belgian made the break and won the race, while Ulysses Coneys (Tony Kart) joined Anstett on the podium and Alexis Coursault (Birel) from the back took 4th on the line.

DD2 MASTER

LAMBERT IN CONTROL

The usual candidates for victory were Morgan Hipp (Sodi), Christophe Adams (Kosmic) and Florent Lambert (Tony Kart) who had to battle with Thomas Cornée (CRG), a leader in the prefinal from Hipp. But Lambert was intractable in the final and won against Cornée and Adams.

NATIONAL SERIES KARTING AT LE MANS

COUSIN MASTERFUL IN ROTAX MAX AT LE MANS N

ot much has gone his way in previous races, so Jules Cousin arrived at Le Mans for the third meeting of the NSK 2014 with his motivation increased tenfold. In perfect harmony with the DSS Kart team, Jules put in an absolutely remarkable performance despite changing track conditions, winning both the prefinal and final in Rotax Max. In one shot he has moved from 11th to 3rd position in the championship standings. Well done, Jules!

the heats, Jules progressed as the grip decreased to settle in the lead in the intermediate ranking on Saturday evening. From the Prefinal on Sunday morning, the track was still very wet and the rain ceasing complicated the choice of tyres. "I really wanted to go on wet tyres but the team leaned towards slicks. I cannot thank Didier Durand enough for insisting on slicks." Jules had a good start but then played it safe, to keep pace with the drivers on wet tyres and quietly bided his time. As DSS predicted, the line gradually dried "I am very satisfied with the results this and Jules was back in the head after the weekend, especially on a track like Le halfway point and crossed the finish line as Mans," Jules said, very relaxed in front of the winner by over 7". the podium. "It makes up for the previous races which didn't go as well as I had The track was still wet for the final, and this hoped. It gives me great satisfaction to time wet tyres were de rigueur. Jules was on beat serious competitors and now the his own in the lead on the last lap, leaving his championship is within reach!" opponents to fight behind him. "It's true that I like driving in the rain or when it's slippery. The meeting began at Le Mans with the We worked hard in low grip conditions here fastest time in his group and 3rd position last year at the Rotax National Finals and this overall. As the weather deteriorated over experience helped me."

The hero of the day, Jules is now thinking about the race at Essay at the end of August where he will compete for the championship victory. "I like the layout of Essay, but until now I have not had success ... We will seriously prepare for the NSK final". The main objective of the season, however, remains qualification for Rotax World Finals. Winning the NSK is a path to

this, but there are others such as the Rotax National Finals at Angerville or even the Pan-Am Rotax Challenge in Mooresville, United States. Anyway, Jules remains faithful to the FA Kart chassis and especially the DSS Kart team of Didier Durand: "The drivers, and parents appreciate the seriousness of DSS that is

manifested even in the smallest details. The team is very organized and rigorous. We are always trying to test an improvement or innovation. The competition is tough and it takes work to make a difference."

NATIONAL

KRA 11-15

LECLERC 3 FLAHAUT 1

A

rthur Leclerc confirmed his early season performance and was the best performer of the weekend. The Monaco driver has won three of the four races, and also took two pole positions. Bastien Flahaut was his most serious rival, winning the only race where Leclerc did not shine. At Le Mans, more drivers were honoured to be on the podium: Sacha Hebrard, Benjamin Gonzalez, Alexander Colomes and Neo Lambert. Note that the first qualifying session was topped by Alvis Ang and Colomes won Race 1, before being given a penalty (start procedure).

NATIONAL

KRA 7-11 THREE RACES, THREE WINNERS T

he changing hierarchy has demonstrated the level of control and motivation for the younger drivers at the meeting. In Race 1, Guillaume Treillard de Quinemont overtook polesitter Simon Jouniaux to win. Victor Bernier was in between in second position. Faustin MahĂŠ went on the attack in Race 2 which he won against the JouniauxBernier pair. The latter won in the next. Race 3 was controlled by the excellent MahĂŠ. Leading early in the race, Treillard de Quinemont was unlucky after that. Leandro Padez completed the podium.

ACTION KARTING THE MYCHRON 4 TIMES has become the benchmark of data acquisition in

279€ TTC

karting because it offers a new way to visualize the most important data acquired during testing and racing and also at the time of analysis: RPM, Temperature, laps, history etc ...

The MyChron 4 is an technologically innovative kart dash, with its graphical display which is easy to read. Large numbers show important information (such as the operating temperature of the engine), detailed diagrams and histograms are clear (such as power curves) and the digital MyChron 4 dashboard also allows you to load an image (a team logo, for example). The MyChron4 data acquisition system is much more than good design and has the functions: • Two configurable alarm LEDs • Diode for changing the configuration • Intuitive menu for easy configuration • Automatic ignition • Long battery life (up to 200 hours with an internal 9V battery) • 1 Mb memory
