This project began with watching a movie titled “Memento, from here I formed my concept to make my matrix inspired by the anterograde amnesia the protagonist has after an injury he experienced.

16

In the second phase of this project, I created a lightbox inspired by the feeling of relativity one can feel when experiencing something new.

17

The Matrix This project was split into two phases, the first being the matrix.

Final Matrix isolated

18

The matrix helped me create a dynamic arrangement of planes and linear elements that translated the idea of how someone with anterograde amnesia must go through their lives facing continuous disruptions and shifts.

The final model: matrix meets lightbox

Creating sections of each draft helped me decide how to nest the lightbox into my armature, I exposed the lightbox in many sides to show that the lightbox was nterrupting the “field or armature, feeding off of the space to create a complex concentration in one specific area.

For Le Petit Cabanon, Iwas ro make a “dream house set on an irregular terrain. A challenge for this project was to incorporate an integrative moving element.

My site is in Iceland, which has a very irregular sun pattern. In the middle of summer, the sun doesn’t set for two weeks straight, then the opposite happens in winter. Because of this, my private space has two moving elements to avoid or interact with the light.

The final shape of the model mimicks the way the water flows over the rocks at the Kolufoss waterfall at my site.

The private space itself can extend out to take in more light.

Conceptual site plan

40

The site for this model was on the USF Tampa campus, I chose an area near the biotanical gardens and decided my model would be a space that respected and embraced nature, the trees would grow through my model rather than being cut down.

For the east-facing part of my model, I wanted to slant the walls to offset it from the other part of the intervention, this part is on-ground as well, so that anyone walking through the model at this part would actually be walking on ground, embracing the aspect of this model acting as a frame for the beauty of the nature.

A Celebration of Nature I decided to challenge myself by making my intervention allow the trees to run through it, rather than cutting down or building between them, following my concept as an homage to the beauty of the nature.

Site plan on mylar

Through site analysis, I was able to come up with a shape that complimented the surroundings of the site. I was thinking of this as a culmination of its surroundings.

Moments in Red The red light cast through my model represented the ways in which ones life is impacted by the love from those who come into their lives. The red lights are impactful and in larger areas of the light garden.

Moments in Yellow Yellow light in the lightbox represents the intimate love experienced family. The yellow projections are in smaller areas but have bright moments of clarity.

Through drawing the model in spatial viewpoints, I was able to show the variance between each floor, because the building is almost a tower, I wanted to be sure the differences among the different floors were made clearer.
