These are the first designs Danni has produced. The one on the left was our favourite therefore we decided to stick with that design and asked Danni to improve it. The poster on the next page is the final poster for this project. It has been printed on A1 paper.

Danni has also been responsible for making a sculpture to hold the book. Below are some of the sketches she did for that. Firsly, she looked at different sculptures such as Sagmeister’s masterpiece. Then, she came up with some ideas of her own. The person helping her with that was Tyrone.

This is the finished scultpure. Danni and worked on it together, however all the finishing touches were done by Danni.

This is Will’s log book. The design was taken from Ali and log book notes were taken by Kasia. Will has put them together into design and printed it. He has also added a cover to it.

william curtiss -Writing a section of the essay -Designing the postcards -Designing the cover page (sleeve) -Making the logbook (putting Kasia’s notes into Ali’s design)

12

Will has also designed some poster designs. As a group we decided not to use them, but will keep them as postcards and the design below will be used as a cover for our book.

13

14

This is Will’s finished cover design including the spine. Seeing as we decided to have a hard cover, it is now used as a sleeve. Will had to change the design multiple times due to dimensions difficulties.

Alistair koh -Writing a section of the essay -Designing the logbook -Designing and making the clock -Writing the script for the presentation and editing our video.

These are the first clock designs which Ali has designed. They were all seperate designs put together. He then proceeded to make a more detailed design of our favourite one.

18

This is the design we all chose as the best one. Ali then went onto making a mock up of the clock. On the right hand side you can see his mock up clock.

19

20

Ali then made the design with appropriate dimensions and laser cut it in the studio.

21

22

Ali, as well as the rest of us, has produced the initial few pages of the book design. Sophie and Kasia then took everyones ideas and designs when making the book. Below are pictures of his design. We took the type face from this particular design.

23

Lastly, Ali is editing the viddeo presentation that we all participated in. Ali wrote the script based on our book/essay and we all added own ideas.

24

Sophie worked on the book with Kasia. Very fairly they spread the work between them both. Picture below shows one of the spreads Sophie did on her own. There have been a few drafts of this book, as both girls kept improving it.

25

sophie le marchand -Writing a section of the essay -Designing the book with Kasia -Binding the book -Promotional items: painting the vase and baking the cake with Kasia

26

This is just one example of the book being changed. This particular change has been made by Sophie after a tutorial with Gabbi and our group.

27

Sophie has also binded the book using the perfect binding method shown in the picture below.

28

Sophie has painted this vase as part of our promotional items. On the right hand side there is a picture of the De Stijl cake Sophie and Kasia baked.

thomas oliver -Writing introduction for our book

Tom has only attended 1/4 of the meetings and produced 1/4 of what he was asked to do. He wrote the introduction for the book. Conclusion, promotional items and other tasks he was supposed to complete were done by other members of the group.

32

Kasia has been putting the whole essay together and as a group leader, she started the group of with some research. Below are pictures of her notebook with research and organising the group.

33

Kasia poplawska -Writing a section for the essay -Putting the essay together -Being a group leader -Designing the book with Sophie -Keeping logbook notes -Promotional items: baking a cake with Sophie -Making the e-sketchbook

34

Kasia has also been keeping all the notes from the meetings and tutorials. She has been typing them up then sending over to Will who then put them into design.

35

As part of the exhibition research, Kasia has gone to the Tate Modern while there was a little exhibition with De Stijl paintings from Piet Mondrian. Ali has also gone to that same exhibition on a different day.

36

Kasia has been working on the book design with Sophie. Below are some of the pages she has done. Most of their work have been collaborate - either one would change others design or be inspired by it to create their own.

37

38

Kasia has designed this e-sketchbook as an extra for everyone including the tutors to have a clear idea on this groups engagement with the learning objectives. On the right hand side there’s the cake again as both Sophie and Kasia have contributed to it.

Tyrone has been helping Danielle with the sculpture. The picture below shows the sculpture before Dannielle has added the finishing touches.

Tyrone Westlake -Writing a section for the essay -Helping Dannielle with the sculpture -Promotional items: iPhone 5 cover, coffee cups

42

43

Seeing as Thomas Oliver haven’t produced any work, Tyrone had to take over the promotional items. In little time, he managed to design this iPhone cover and coffee cup sleeve. Tyrone has also offered help with the clock if it was needed.

44

45

The image on the left shows how the exhibition was set out on the first day. The image below shows how it was set out for our exhxibition. Overall 6/7 members of the De Stijl group have put a lot of hard work and effort into this project.
