PUT MEANING BEHIND YOUR WEDDING. YOU ARE THE ONE WHO WILL EXPERIENCE IT. 7
If you’re having an outdoor reception, but want to still utilize the inside of your venue, try kicking the evening off indoors for cocktail hour and then bring the party outside for the reception and a night of dancing under the stars. For outdoor events, always have a rain plan. Discuss your options with your venue or have a tent rental on hold just in case.
We are planning an outdoor reception but also want to take advantage of the gorgeous view our venune provides from inside to outside. What do you suggest?
Q&A with David Tutera What is the number one thing to splurge on for the wedding reception?
What color dress should I wear for my second wedding?

Entertainment would have to be the number one splurge in my book. I always say that music is the heartbeat to any celebration or event and really sets the tone from beginning to end.
You may wear any color your heart desires, whether it is your first or, second or third wedding!

Q.
I’m getting married this fall, but am not a big fan of traditional autumn colors. I love bright, summer hues and pastel and had always envisioned this scheme for my wedding, What are your thoughts?
A.
You absolutely do not have to align your wedding colors with the season. Pastel color schemes in particular have become popular all year- round and would beautifully complete a fall wedding. Take note of which flowers are in season and go from there to help save on costs.
Q. A.
I know you like tall and low centerpieces . How many varations should you have?
Mixing high and low centerpieces brings extra dimensions and visual appeal to the event space. I typically stick with two or three designs . If you do a third, consider a centerpiece that blends aspects of the other two designs. You can take the same approach with candles, using varying sizes to create a more intimate design.
Q.
What are your thoughts on whether the bride and the groom should be present during cocktail hour vs. remaining behind the scences in their bridal suite?
A.
There is no right or wrong here, it’s a matter of perference. When choosing what is best for you and your groom, consider how much each situation unfolds.
Q.
Can you recommed some unique thank-you gift ideas for bridesmaids and groomsmen?
A.
Try gifting your maids with an experience, like a “mani and mimosas” get-together. You can present it to them with a fun nail polish attached with a little thank-you note stating that you will be treating them to a faboulous nail manicure before the big day. For the groomsmen dress socks, pocket squares, cufflinks, sytlish items they can use for future festivities.

TIPS
ON GUEST LIST

1. Start with the cost. Write out all of the guests you are thinking of inviting and divide them into two lists. The first list should include those you must invite: immediate family, best friends and your wedding party. The second list should include those you feel you should really invite, but do not have to. Work with your planner to get a good idea of what your wedding might cost per person. Then if that amount is, for example, $1,000, ask yourselves would you ever spend that amount of money on such and such guest. - Aimee Monihan
2. Ask Questions Start with your friends. Ask yourselves, have you talked to them in the last three years? Do you stay in touch? Move on to other fringe areas such as kids and co-workers. - Ali Phillips
3. Who do you want to hug first? Imagine their wedding day and who they would want to immediately hug after you have said their vows. The reason being is the people they have conjured up in their daydream are the people they want to share their happiness witht the most. - Tara Fay
4. Look at the Upsides “I have always look at things through the lens of positivity. Having to narrow down your guest lists can actually have its upside snd give you the opportunity to have two weddings. We recommend doing an intimate ceremony in 2021 and a large reception in 2022.”-Monica Gomez
