The earthship is Manitoba’s first and is based on the principles of “biotecture”, which means biology and architecture combined. It is basically the highest form of sustainable living at this point. The earth ship term means an eco-friendly, energy efficient home. It is constructed by dirt packed into piled up tires as exterior walls, and this will maintain temperature by storing heat and releasing it slowly. The inside walls are made of alumium cans and glass bottles to form “bottle bricks”.
