The last months of the year are always very special: days are getting shorter, the first snowflakes are starting to fall and you can see Christmas lights reflected in children‘s eyes. The cold season is kind of magical in many ways … On the one hand, we rest and prepare for the coming holidays. On the other, we eagerly await ball season with its long, shimmering nights. For now, we brace ourselves for winter, probably the most important time for the world of fashion. Along with knitted jumpers and huge coats, we look forward to getting reacquainted with our beloved suede boots, which go perfectly with THE trend this winter: the return of the 70s! We take a look at the love & peace era in our fashion editorial, with a focus on the must-have platform ankle boots. For more style inspiration, our guest blogger, Marta from Style Sandbox, shows us how to style oversized coats. You can also find ideas on how to bejewel your shoes for special occasions, and discover this season‘s ”It bags“. In the Catwalk Trends, we present the key current fashion trends for women, men and kids. In this winter issue, our Shopper Of The Season is Vicky Wanka, the darling of the German blogosphere, and for MOVEMENT OF ME we have chosen the remarkably talented Austrian fashion designer duo, Emil and Markus from the DMMJK label. As always, we are very happy to hear our readers’ compliments and critiques, suggestions and ideas, as well as invitations to collaborate. Thanks a lot, YOU ARE EXTRAORDINARY. ALWAYS.

The 70s have definitely influenced the fashion world in the past few years. The most commonly-referenced image of the era is the hippie chic and bohemian flair. However, the decade was about more than just free love; it was also the time when women started to conquer the job market. 70s reloaded is inspired by these working ladies in their jumper minidresses and midi-length coats, teamed with boots. Suede is key to putting this look together. The HUMANIC range of ankle and knee-high boots includes plenty of options in this soft material, in rich earth tones such as sand, grey, amber brown and saffron.

A little bit punk, slightly rebellious, elegantly boyish – that’s what street girl is all about. It’s a flashback to the urban scene of London in the early 80s. Following this trend, the coolest girls are wearing their pretty metal jewellery together with tees, track jackets and dark tights. Lots of black with some plum accents are statement colours of the tough chick’s outfit. Just one thing can shine stronger than your attitude – patent leather boots from HUMANIC to add extra glam to the streets.

Urban Trekking is a trend that blurs the lines between countryside and city life, bringing together their best features. The alpine innovation lies in combining mountaineer-style boots with feminine metropolitan chic outfits, establishing a perfect contrast. Military-inspired footwear with treaded soles is the heart of the look. You can find these styles in a selection of leathers, and the look is only getting hotter. The practical soles and hardwearing materials make for a utilitarian combination that promises to protect you from the cold, wherever you end up.

Fashion‘s enduring love affair with the bold print from the Highlands is in evidence more than ever this season. Appearing on shirts and jackets as well as trousers, they add a great appeal to any outfit. The heritage patterns come in different colours and sizes, and are not only seducing on the catwalk, but also on our streets. From Scotland with love, and taking all continents by storm, tartan is reinterpreted and combined with other trends, such as urban trekking or 70s reloaded.

Fashion doesn‘t check your age or your appearance. It’s all about attitude, no matter how old you are. Nevertheless, each stage of life reflects a facet of the beauty and charm of a woman, highlighted by the right outfit. In their 20s, women style themselves with a sense of adventure. In their 30s, with youthful sophistication. In their 40s, it’s all about elegance. But whatever time of life you are in, don’t forget to smile and be happy!

No matter when we were born, our souls belong to the 70s. Those years were full of hope, love and peace; the perfect time to be young. We feel exactly the same today. So, why not embrace the style of such an amazing decade with HUMANIC‘s ankle boots with snakeskin embossing or suede and clunky heels? PS. When not wearing them, these shoes are also doing well placed in our homes, along with some other souvenirs from the 70s ;-)

This trend is taking us back to the basics, but with a twist – it’s a modern version of the basic. The City Guy lives in a metropolis of the near future, where familiar and essential items are designed with a contemporary edge. Just like we’re seeing on the catwalks: premium progressive fabrics, tailored in classic cuts and muted tones, that make casual looks feel smart. The shoes for this look are trendy and minimalistic to go along with this sense of discreet luxury. Designers like Tom Ford are devoted to this combination.

This trend springs from the urge to commune with nature. We feel the need to identify small, moments of purity in our daily lives to unwind and take a deep breath. We change work routines, take craft breaks in the evenings or sign up to a weekend expedition with gusto. The longing for micro adventures is reflected in rural and functional clothes, with outdoor references like plush and faux fur, as used by Ovadia and Sons for their hooded anorak. On the catwalks, we’ve also seen big parkas, cargo pants and rugged clothes, paired with lace-up mountain boots.

SHOPPER OF THE SEASON
WHY DID YOU START BLOGGING?
I noticed that many people kept asking me what I’m wearing. They liked my style and wanted to know where I get all my inspiration for my outfits from. So, I started blogging just for fun and to share my style. YOU HAVE A GREAT STYLE, YOUR HAIR AND MAKEUP ARE PERFECT, YOUR PHOTOS ARE SUPER COOL. WHERE DID YOU LEARN ABOUT ALL THESE THINGS?
I really have to admit that I don’t have a magic code or anything. I just tried some things and somehow, I found “my own“ kind of eye makeup and hair colour that I feel comfortable with. WHAT’S YOUR HAIR COLOUR?
I am naturally dark blonde, but I was a redhead for a while. At the moment, I have granny-grey hair. IF YOU WERE A SHOE, WHICH ONE WOULD YOU BE?

Vicky Wanka is a fashion blogger from Hamburg, Germany. She started blogging in 2010, appearing on the media radar when she presented some looks and ran a runway show at a shoe fair. Since then, Vicky has been seen in several TV shows, magazines and on her own video channel. There, she gives beauty tips and takes her audience with her on her trips all over the world. We’re lucky that the fashion girl Vicky found her favorite shoes at HUMANIC!
I think I want to be one that is comfortable but a fashion statement as well – footwear you can combine with a lot of styles and that you can wear the whole day and night. For me, the perfect shoes are white sneakers. U&ME Sneaker 1711123095
#YouAreExtraordinary In recent months, HUMANIC has been deeply involved in various Vienna-based fashion projects, and we have met some incredible individuals along the way. It means that choosing who to feature in MOVEMENT OF ME, our showcase for talented creatives, was a really tough task. In the end, we chose the Viennese label DMMJK, because their story started quite recently, but is already a long one! Emil Maria Beindl and Markus Binder started the brand in 2013, after graduating from Vienna‘s University of Applied Arts, with guidance from Bernhard Willhelm and Veronique Branquinho.
DMMJK
Their first collection won many accolades, including awards from RONDO/Vöslauer, INDIE Magazine and Apolda European Design. It also got them hired by hot New York design duo Proenza Schouler - a dream come true for any newcomer looking to be picked up by a major fashion label. DMMJK are inspired by casual acquaintances, strangers passing by and the odd moments of everyday life. Through their creative process they transform simple insights into remarkable things.
