Les créations de Franco DeFrancesca, artiste multidisciplinaire depuis 2004, vont d’installations sculpturales à la photographie, l’art numérique et l’art sonore. Ses projets explorent les notions narratives et représentationnelles des médias, de la technologie, de l’histoire et de la culture pop. DeFrancesca utilise le numérique comme un mode de création abstrait dans la forme d’un objet d’art. Il enquête sur les liens entre l’art et la mémoire, l’histoire et la technologie et explore le territoire entre la photographie et la peinture, mélangeant les références à ceux-ci et à l’utilisation de la technologie. Ses œuvres aux couleurs vibrantes représentent des réflexions sur notre culture visuelle contemporaine charmée par le minimalisme et le modernisme, la technologie et le futurisme. Elles rappellent les champs de couleurs et la géométrie élémentaire de la peinture abstraite, minimaliste et op-art de la deuxième moitié du vingtième siècle. DeFrancesca a exposé en Amérique du Nord et en Europe, et fait partie de plusieurs collections privées et corporatives à travers le monde.
*** As a multidisciplinary artist since 2004, Franco DeFrancesca has been creating and exhibiting art and art projects ranging from sculpture/installation, photography, digital art, and sound art. These projects explore the narratives and representations that materialize notions of media, technology, history, and pop culture. DeFrancesca employs digital media as a mode of creating abstraction in the form of an art object, investigating the links between art and memory, history and technology. The use of digital imaging allows the artist to navigate the territory between photography and painting, mixing references to photography, painting and display technology. These vibrantly coloured works represent reflections on contemporary visual culture charmed by minimalism and modernism, technology and futurism. His work recalls the colour-field and the elemental geometry of mid to late twentieth century post painterly abstraction, minimalism and op-art. DeFrancesca has exhibited in North America and Europe and has been collected by various private and corporate collections throughout North America, Europe and globally.
