Né à Montréal, Monet a étudié le design graphique à l’Université Laval tout en explorant d’autres médiums dans les beaux-arts. Il a travaillé dans l’univers de la mode et de la publicité durant de nombreuses années avant de se consacrer entièrement à sa carrière d’artiste. Il explore alors divers médiums tels que la mosaïque, le collage et l’acrylique. Inspiré par le cinéma, la photographie, la musique et la littérature, Monet a une connexion et une sensibilité naturelle à notre société moderne et ses contemporains. Sa signature conceptuelle, un assemblage de texte, de texture et de couleurs, respire l’excentricité de l’autonomisation de son temps et illustre parfaitement les personnages et personnalités des icônes qu’il dépeint dans ses œuvres. Le portrait domine son œuvre, mais pas n’importe quel. Sa signature stylistique mélange de vieux journaux, livres et peinture aux traits de ses personnages, les rendant avec une telle précision qu’ils donnent l’illusion d’une photographie. Avec une demande sans cesse grandissante pour ses œuvres, le travail de Monet a été exposé à Paris, Londres, New York, Séoul, Singapour, Miami, Oslo, Cannes, Montréal, Dubaï, Hong Kong, Berlin, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Hambourg, Stuttgart, Munich, Frankfurt, Zurich, Vienne, Madrid, Melbourne et Moscou. Parmi ses nombreuses commissions, l’une des plus remarquables est celle du portrait du prince William et de Kate Middleton, pour la célébration de leur mariage en 2011. Pour sa première exposition solo à la Galerie de Bellefeuille Toronto, l’artiste s’est dépassé encore une fois en créant des pièces monumentales, incluant des icônes canadiennes telles que Leonard Cohen et Gord Downie. Cette impressionnante collection rassemble des portraits de gens admirés dans le monde, en un album de famille unique en son genre.

Born in Montreal, Monet studied graphic design at Laval University while exploring other mediums in fine art. He worked in fashion and advertisement before he dedicated himself to being a full-time artist. Monet has explored various media such as mosaic, collage and acrylics. Inspired by cinema, photography, music and literature, Monet has a natural connection and sense for current society and its contemporaries. His signature style, a conceptual assemblage of text, texture and color situates Monet as a painter of his time. Portraitures dominating his oeuvres however, not just any kind of portrait! His unique interpretation blends a collage of old newspapers and books to the traits of his characters, rendering them with such precision, giving the illusion of a photograph. In an ever-expanding demand for his works, Monet’s portraits have been exhibited in Paris, London, New York, Seoul, Singapore, Miami, Oslo, Cannes, Montreal, Dubai, Hong Kong, Berlin, Cologne, Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Munich, Frankfurt, Zurich, Vienne, Madrid, Melbourne and Moscow. Among numerous commissions, one most notable would be the portrait of Prince William and Kate Middleton in celebration of their marriage in 2011. For this first solo exhibition of AndrÊ Monet at Galerie de Bellefeuille Toronto, the artist has once again challenged himself by creating monumental portraits that include Canadian icons, such Leonard Cohen and Gord Downie. This impressive collection brings together portraits of admired personalities from around the world into a unique family album.
