TIGER TIDBITS • 2014 marks Mizzou’s 19th season of soccer, as the program was started in 1996. The Tigers have an all-time record of 196-158-21. • Head Coach Bryan Blitz enters 2014 just four wins shy of 200 at Mizzou, and nine wins shy of 250 in his coaching career. • Three Tigers were named to the SEC Coaches’ Preseason Watch List earlier in the week: senior midfielder Kaysie Clark, junior defender Candace Johnson and sophomore midfielder Melanie Donaldson. • Kaysie Clark earned All-SEC first team honors in 2013 after pacing the squad with 15 points on six goals and three assists. She enters her senior season with 35 points on 12 goals and 11 assists. • The 2014 Tigers are a family affair, with two pairs of sisters suiting up for Mizzou. Senior Kaysie Clark is joined on the pitch by her sister, freshman Kaitlyn, while freshman Jessica Johnson joins her sister Jessica on the squad. • In its lone exhibition game of the year, Missouri recorded 2-1 win over No. 4 North Carolina on Aug. 15. Senior Taylor Grant and sophomore Rachel Hignett scored for the Tigers. • Redshirt freshman Jessica Herrman will make her Missouri debut this season, two years after joining the Tigers. Herrman suffered season-ending injuries in 2012 and 2013 that kept her off the field, but the Raytown, Mo., native will finally suit up for Mizzou in 2014.

MORE ABOUT THE TIGERS Last Time Out After over a week of practice, Mizzou hit the pitch on Friday, Aug. 15 for its lone exhibition contest of the preseason and recorded a 2-1 win over No. 4 North Carolina in Chapel Hill. The Tarheels outshot the Tigers 15-4 but Mizzou made the most of its chances, tallying two goals on those four shots. In the 36th minute, the Tigers struck first as sophomore Rachel Hignett made the Tarheels pay for a defensive miscue. The Llandough, Wales, native, intercepted a North Carolina clear and neatly one-timed a shot over the keeper and into the left-side netting for a 1-0 Tiger advantage. The Tarheels knotted the match at 1-1 in the 64th minute but the Tigers responded four minutes later. Freshman Jessica Johnson gathered a bad Tarheel pass and played the ball off to Grant, who had made a run into the 18. Grant turned toward the front of the goal and poked a rightfooted shot under North Carolina’s keeper for the eventual game-winner. Scouting Syracuse Syracuse posted a 7-11-1 record during the 2013 campaign and posted a mark of 3-9-1 in the tough Atlantic Coast Conference.

Streak -
MIZZOU SOCCER The team returns six starters and 11 letter winners from last year, including the squad’s top six scorers. In an exhibition contest against Binghamton on Aug. 16, Syracuse posted a 5-3 win. Four different Orange players found the back of the net in the match: senior Alexis Koval, sophomore Maddie Iozzi, freshman Alex Lamontagne and freshman Sheridan Street, who notched two goals. Scouting West Virginia The West Virginia Mountaineers come into this weekend ranked 12th in the NSCAA/ Continental Tire preseason poll. The team was chosen to repeat as Big 12 Championships, following a 2013 season that saw the Mountaineers go 16-4-3 overall and 7-1 in the Big 12. West Virginia returns nine starters from last season and added seven newcomers to its roster. The Mountaineers went 1-1 in preseason scrimmages, posting a 3-1 win over Navy on Aug. 16 and falling to Rutgers, 4-2, on Aug. 12. Sister, Sister The 2014 Tigers are a family affair, with two pairs of sisters suiting up for Mizzou. Senior Kaysie Clark is joined on the pitch by her sister, freshman Kaitlyn, while freshman Jessica Johnson joins her sister Jessica on the squad. Both Clarks will be found in the midfield during the year, while Jasmine will play in the back and Jessica will play up front. Blitz Approaching Wins Milestones Head Coach Bryan Blitz is approaching two milestones this season. The 19-year Mizzou head coach owns a 196-158-21 mark at the school, just four away from 200. His program record also stands as Mizzou’s all-time record as Blitz started the soccer program in 1996. Additionally, Blitz owns a career head coaching record of 241-202 and 29, just nine away from 250. Herrman Finally Back on the Pitch Since setting foot on Mizzou’s campus in 2012, redshirt sophomore Jessica Herrman has been a part of the Tiger soccer program but has not been able to suit up due to season-ending injuries sustained before the 2012 and 2013 campaigns. The Raytown, Mo., native fought back and is poised to be a valuable contributor to the Tigers in 2014. A full participant in preseason practices, Herrman saw her first game action against North Carolina on Aug. 22, where she earned the start up top and logged 36 minutes of action. She also recorded Missouri’s first shot of the game less than two minutes into the match. Tigers All Over the TV in 2014 The Mizzou soccer team will appear on national television four times on the SEC Network and ESPNU during the 2014 season, as announced on May 14. The Tigers’ TV slate features a league best two ESPNU matches, while Missouri’s four total TV games are tied for second among all schools. Mizzou’s four regular season nationally televised matches also mark a program high. The squad also had four TV games in 2012 but two of those matches were on regional channels. Missouri first hits the airwaves on Sunday, Sept. 28 on ESPNU for a 1 p.m. ET contest at Florida. The two squads also squared off on ESPNU last season, with the Tigers earning a 1-0 upset of the then-No. 7 Gators. The Tigers also appear on ESPNU on Sunday, Oct. 26 in a 1 p.m. ET road match at Tennessee. On Thursday, Oct. 2, Mizzou makes its debut on the SEC Network in a 6 p.m. CT home match against the Kentucky Wildcats. Missouri then closes the regular season at home on the SEC Network on Thursday, Oct. 30 against Arkansas at 8 p.m. CT. Additionally, eight more contests will be available on SEC Network +, the SEC Network’s digital platform. Common Opponents IUPUI - Mizzou and IUPUI share two common opponents - SEMO and South Dakota. IUPUI went 1-2 with those teams, splitting with South Dakota and losing in five to SEMO. Mizzou defeated South Dakota, 3-0, in its season-opener and hit a school record .606 in a 3-0 sweep of SEMO. Purdue - Mizzou and Purdue share just one common opponent this season - Pittsburgh. Both teams defeated Pitt with Mizzou doing so on its home floor, 3-1, and Purdue earning a 3-2 win at the USF Invitational in Tampa. Central Arkansas - Mizzou and Central Arkansas share no common opponents in 2013. Sauerwein All Over the Record Books In three full seasons as Mizzou’s starting goalkeeper, redshirt senior McKenzie Sauerwein

PA G E 3 B RYA N B L I T Z Entering his 19th season as head soccer coach at Mizzou, Bryan Blitz holds a record of 196-15821 since 1996 when he was hired as the program’s first head coach. Under his tutelege, the Tigers have won two Big 12 Championships and earned five NCAA Tournament appearances. In 2013, the Tigers went 8-9-3 and earned three wins over top-25 opponents, including two top-10 victories. In the program’s first season in the Southeastern Conference, Blitz led the Tigers to a 14-71 season and their fifth NCAA Tournament berth. The squad’s 14 wins tie for the second-most in a single-season. In 2009, his Mizzou squad earned its first ever Big 12 regular season title as as the Tigers clinched the title with a 5-0 shutout over Nebraska on Oct. 25 With his players excelling on the field it seemed only natural that Blitz was named Big 12 Coach of the Year for the second time. In 2008 the Tigers had one of their most successful seasons in program history. Blitz directed his team to a 16-5-2 mark, the Big 12 Conference Tournament Championship and into the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season. Over the course of the year, Mizzou set school records with wins (16), fewest losses (five), shutouts (12), fewest goals allowed (19) and goals against average (0.80), among others. • 2009 Big 12 Conference Coach of the Year • 2007 Big 12 Conference Coach of the Year • 1995 Horizon League Coach of the Year
