From the Director of the Arts The goal of Malvern Prep’s Arts Department is to provide students with a broad-based understanding of the creative and performing arts. The Arts Curriculum encourages each student to develop his creative talents as he explores the world of art, music, and theatre. As a department, we strive to integrate the visual and performing arts to create an environment that fosters accomplishment through an interdisciplinary approach. Through a variety of courses, students are given the opportunity to create, perform, and study in each of these disciplines. Students are encouraged to exhibit their work not only at the Malvern Arts Events, but also at other venues in the communities. The Arts Curriculum offers students a wide variety of comprehensive courses covering a wide range of related art disciplines in the areas of visual art, vocal and instrumental music, and theatre. Clubs and programs within the Arts Department include the Music Honor Society (Tri-M), the National Art Honor Society (NAHS), the International Thespian Society, and after-school arts programming for grades 6-12. It is through the arts that students begin to understand their own cultural heritage and that of other nationalities. They understand the relevance of the arts and the impact that art has on our lives. With this knowledge, Malvern’s graduates will be well-rounded and culturally diverse young men.
