In Mirror
HETEROTOPIA
Herterotopia is the world we can sense but could never reach in reality. Like the world in the mirror when we looked into it. But as far as I know, most of people foucs their attention on themselves rather than paying attention to other individuals. More and more people are complaining about loneliness. But a little of them have chance to know others. In this design, I want to mix the real world with heterotopia in order to set a trick for strangers. They would fall in to my trap of wonderland, accidentally start to realize the exist of others and find the miraculous reaction that could happen between different bodies. reality

CATCH ME IF YOU CAN
The whole frame seems harmless to attract people to sit in it. While sitting alone, you will be curious to see that there is nothing but the background of your side in the mirror, you will see your feet, but your body will disappear.
In order to set the trap, first I used an iron frame to set the boundary of the "world". To stimulate reality, I put a pair of chairs which face to each other to force users face each other. Than I let the double-faced mirror stand in the middle to reflect heterotopia of each user. Finally I "stealthily" infiltrate the reality in this small wonderland with a whole piece of glass in the middle of the mirror like a sandwich, so users will never know the truth about this world unless they sit down and start to look.

Perhaps by the moments you are still confusing, another person step in. Everything happens like accidentally, suddendly you look at a stranger directly in the eye. You will see her face mixing with your arms and legs. WOW!

There are innumerable biological identities in this world, amazing things would happen if we start to realize the difference between individuals. With combination of differnt sex, size, age, colour,species...... we can see how simliar we are and how different we are.

The Republic
DYSTOPIA
Turning city street vertical, placing all the public transpotation street into corecube.
What is functional architecture in the city now letting them become different blocks.
Placing four circle instead of public fields like plaza.
Learning from Rem Koolhaas's theory of vertical city, I'm trying to place a kingdom in an single skycraper. After reading Plato's <The Republic>, I want to translate the whole design into a politic mode. How the functions served people. how the government work in this kingdom, how this kingdom runs year after year. I will use three chapters: Personal Jutice, Big Brother Watching You, and Sustainable Development to decribe my design.

I put the monitoring room on the top on the building, it will use the monitors spreading in the building everywhere to watch over people live in it to meet the politic goal of freaking people out to behave nice and well. But there will still be coeners that the monitors can not sense, thiat is the place where the law is blurry or unknow. When I translate all the functions into a flat form, It will look like this.

It is the same in architecture. Only people will make the space alive, but not just dead face and corner. As I wish all of the space to be active, it needs people to activate it. But the only answer of how to make people run like blood in veins is the transportation in skycraper----the core-tube. With the core-tube, activity will happen everywhere as people go upside down. This is how the sustainable development in a "the republic".

Home For Couple
LOVETOPIA
Lately public attention has turn to relationship between couples. Does man has to earn a lot of money to support the family while woman just stays at home? Does woman has to do all the homework and trying to stay young while man needs to do nothing? Those confilcts attracted my attention. After reading romantic theory from Helen Fisher, I decided to do a design based on couple. Though we are different sexes, we are born to be equal. But how can I let them live in a place with equality in a relationship? I decided to use Helen Fisher's theoty as background. People fall in love due to three reasons: LURE(sex),ATTRACTION and ATTACHMENT. I take them corresponding to resting space, working space and living space. The spatial logic precisely, from my point of view, is SCALE, HIERARCHY and EXPERIENCE. In this design, I will use the language of shape and space to translate equality in romance. I will talk about lure, attraction and attachment from aspects of scale, hierarchy and experience.

Scale lure
Helen Fisher's theroy mentioned three different reasons for romance: lure, attraction and attachment. With matchup to resting space,working space and living space, for different sexes,they all have the same scale.
Learning from Robert Venturi, First, I used suduku to divide space, then put circle and square to symmetrically represents different sexes. In the end, carefully place their occlusion relationship.

Different sexes's rooms have the same floor height to imply they have the same hierarchy.
Square column with two types represents space of male. They are placed in the north half of the house, trying to indicate characteristic of firm ,courage and strength.
Using curved walls, I am trying to make the space more comfortable for female to experience. The angle that the male's room is connected with shared-bedroom is an invisible circular bead.
Cylinder column with two different types represents space of female. They are placed in the south half of the house, trying to indicate charateristic of gentle, inflexible and freedom.
Using square walls, I am trying to make the space more comfortable for male to experience. The angle that the female's room is connected with shared-bedroom is an invisible right angle.

There are so many families in china's country, the core generation that betwween 20~50 years old leave their home to seek for highrt salary job in city, Their children had been left alone, their parents are left as well, The gap between family members is so huge just like the gap between country and city. Their heart are all full of pain due to missing to their family members. And they are never able to fight with fate. In this design, I want to show how the beauty and chinese culture could combain, to maginfy the strength of individualemotion could show.

HOW THE MAP WORK
This part of design wants to talk about family relationship and supersedure. In chinese culture, death is not horrible, it is the release of soul. Just like the ballon fies to somewhere that we will never know, our soul will fly to heaven. Isn't it beautiful? Inside of the lantern, I used ballons to picture the whole family's relationship, in ChiWnese,it is called" ć&#x2014;?č°ą ", in English,it is "family tree".
