1996 - 1997 CONVENIENT ONE Columbus, Ohio Co-Owner/ Manager This non-franchise convenience store—located adjacent to the Ohio State University campus across the street from the Law School—had four significant competitors within a 1½block radius, had been closed during the 6 months preceding our takeover, and thus had no customer base. By employing aggressive pricing and product strategies and providing very personalized customer service, within three months of opening, we were able to lure customers—who bypassed our competitors, to shop with us—and develop a steady/growing customer base. We saw a full return on our investment within the first year and this store capitalized several other businesses during the next three years. PROFESSIONAL WRITING / PUBLISHING

Gaskins atherine askins Katherine . . . NEW BUSINESS RE-LAUNCH

1998 Elizabeth Johnson BEHIND THE SCENES MAGAZINE Wilmington, NC (910) 270-4444 Co-Editor in Chief I worked with the Founder of this nationally-distributed trade magazine for the film industry, to re-conceptualize the business basis for her source income. We redeveloped content, designed a national re-launch plan and equity prospectus, and began pitching to prospective investors, all-the-while continuing to publish monthly. Within three months, national advertisers began to contact us, unsolicited! Unfortunately, the founder did not have the financial holding power and did not want to accrue substantial debt during this re-launch period and decided to stop publishing just as the national advertisers began contacting us.
