RESEARCH: BARBARA HEPWORTH/ ARCHITECTURE Looked at other architectural sources of inspiration for stitched patterns Also used the shapes of Hepworth’s sculptures to influence my initial design ideas (curved shapes)
DEVELOPMENT - Looked at oversized overalls to inform my design development More geometric shapes that collapse to create oversized pieces Also looked at combining stitch/ quilting ideas with garment details e.g. pockets

PRINT/ KNIT & COLOUR - Inspired by David Hockney’s theatre sets and botanicals Also took inspiration from the way the sets are layered and displaced Crocheted samples to replicate some of the textures used within his theatre sets
THE CREATIVE WHITE SHIRT PROJECT -
Broadened my skills in pattern cutting and manipulation as well as garment construction. This was selected for an exhibition at the Shipley Art Gallery in Gateshead that showcased the most successful and innovative designs of the project
