URBAN OUTFITTERS DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
For my chosen garment I wanted to choose a piece that was a main part of my collection. I chose the wrap over jumpsuit as it is a piece what everyone would suit and can easily be dressed up or down. Jumpsuits have come back into fashion in many styles however I wanted to add a new twist to one, involving my research of industrial workwear. For my jumpsuit fastening i wanted to carry on the suggestion of the old fastenings but update them with more modern ways and sizes. Istead of using poppers to fasten the jumpsuit, i used an ontop zip to give a more comptemporary look.

Calico
While drafting my pattern out, i felt i needed to add more of an unique twist to my jumpsuit although having the wrap over fronts, it wouldnt show the underneath jumpsuit as much as i’d like it to. Looking back at my concept board and designs, i altered the design to a one sided wrap over front which is cut on the bias to give a draping effect when worn and added volume.
Original Jumpsuit pattern Jumpsuit made by using the basic block with my alterations.
Experimenting with fabric to see how a draped piece of fabric cut on the bias, works when placed on the body.

White Shirt Project
The white shirt project brief was to design a shirt which ‘presents a creative cutting approach and encourages us to think ‘out of the box’, to develop my designs in a practical way either 2D or 3D while also focusing on silhouette and control of volume around the body’. I wanted to design a shirt which was changelling the shape of a normal shirt design, which is why i added as many angles as i could to create unique seams.
