expectations of people who require the spaces around them to complement and improve what they the people who occupy it. This fact of creating and designing for people is one of the main reasons I want to be an Interior Designer. I have a unique opportunity of artistic expression that improves peoples lives by creating spaces that offer new experiences, easier community, and are inspiring and useful.
As a designer for people, I am interested in commercial hospitality design that is widely expe-
rienced by and useful to everyone. As a service-oriented industry, hospitality design is one of the greatest ways to improve peoples lives and their experiences. I am interested in creating spaces that don’t discriminate or intimidate, but foster community and relationship in any type of environment. Throughout my four years as an interior design student, I have discovered myself as a designer inspired by people, culture, and travel. I love the diversity that comes from different cultures and seeing how design is implemented in various ways. The opportunities I have had to travel have opened my eyes to more possibility and have expanded my creative skills and knowledge beyond what I could learn in school.

Hospitality Design Hotel design has continued to be of great interest to me. My love of traveling has influenced my desire to create spaces that also impact other peoples experiences when they travel. After completing my first hotel project, I knew that this was an area of design that I wanted to continue in. Now, my final project is designing a hotel that redefines the industry’s standard services and travelers’ experiences. With an extremely competitive industry, hotels are trying to find new ways to appeal to travelers by providing unique experiences and exceptional service. My Senior Exit project takes enhancing the travelers experience to another level with the inclusion of live music entertainment throughout the interior of the hotel. When travelers from different areas and backgrounds gather together, a special form of community is manifested as cultural, political, financial and other boundaries are diminished for a shared love of music. Travelers want exposure to new cultures, new people, and new experiences when traveling and this hotel provides it all without even leaving the building. Live music entertainment is the kind of experience that can take the hotel and travel industry to a whole new level and standout in such a competitive market.

The First Floor Lobby The lobby is spacious and provides the focus for reception and public facilities. As the main point of entry to the hotel, the lobby begins to define the style and character of the hotel. With ample seating spaces, and easy flow throughout, the design of the lobby is successful at providing guests with a sense of comfort and community as soon as they enter. The Lobby features one full service restaurant, cafe, indoor/outdoor bar, and reatail areas all accessible to the public.

The Third Floor consists of one restaurant called Yum Cha and one night time lounge. The restaurant consists of a full service dining area serving tradtional dim sum Chinese cuisine and a Tea Garden where guests can try numerous amounts of tea and learn how Chinese tea is properly made and served. In addition, guests can purchase items from the Tea Shop located directly beside the garden. Guests dining in the restaurant can also order tea from the garden. Inspiration for this space came from the dim sum baskets that are served in the restaurant. The Round shape,, and woven texture influenced architectural and design elements as well as the overall concept of the space. Just like the round quality of the basket, the space provides feelings of togetherness with round tables, curved walls, and easy circulation throughout. The basket’s woven texture inspires the concept of intertwining cultures when foreign travelers experience a part of Chinese tradition.

Culavino via delle Carceri is a wine education center located in Cortona, Italy.

30 Rooftop Floor Plan
In order to best accommodate the desires of the visitors to the wine education center, we have dedicated three main spaces for different learning experiences. On the main floor of the building we have a bar area and “classroom” where the visitors can sit and relax as they learn about wine and taste the foods that are best paired with specific wines. On the outdoor patio, there is a stage for wine lectures and another taste testing bar. The rooftop deck provides guests with a wonderful view of the vineyards of Cortona, as well as binoculars to see the specific vineyards that they are tasting wine from. On the lowest level, there is a wine cellar where visitors can tour and witness the wine making process and learn how wine is stored and kept. Also in the cellar there is a chef’s kitchen where guests can have a wine tasting with a full course meal. Outside of the cellar, there is a library and retail area where guests can read or purchase books on wine, as well as bottles or food that they had during their tour.
