Athletics

Ages 7-14

Improve your skills, make new friends, and play ball! This league is played with Geneva and Sugar Grove Park Districts and will require some travel for games. For the 10U, 12U and 14U teams, the season will conclude with a single game elimination playoff. Please provide a jersey and pant size as well as what school your child attends at registration. • Registration deadline is March 29. • After the deadline, you will be waitlisted and only placed on a team if numbers allow. • Practices start after April 12, weather pending.

6U Girls Softball League

Ages 5-6

Join us for the spring softball league! Teams will consist of 8 players. All teams will practice for a half an hour and play their game immediately after. A t-shirt will be provided for each girl. The league will use a tee like a traditional tee-ball league. All girls must bring their own glove and any kind of shoe may be worn. Volunteer coaches are needed.

Adult Softball League

Ages 18+

Get your team together for the 12” adult slowpitch softball league this spring and summer. Games will be on Wednesday evenings at West Main Field 2. Game start times will vary between 6:00 pm and 10:00 pm depending on the number of teams. • Registration deadline is April 26. • A full team roster with waivers and emergency contact information is due before the first game. • The season includes 11 regular season games followed by a single elimination tournament • All players must be over the age of 18 when registering. • ASA softball rules are in effect.

Ages 4-7

Players will develop agility, balance and coordination, movement patterns, forehand and backhand groundstrokes, serves, returns, volleys, court positioning, and scoring.

Orange Ball 1

Ages 8-10

Players will develop agility, coordination, dynamic balance, movement patterns, court positioning, scoring and reliable technique on forehand, backhand, serves and volleys.

Jr Development 1

Ages 11-17

This program is designed to introduce the game to junior high and high school players based on age and ability. Players will develop agility, coordination, dynamic balance, movement patterns, court positioning, scoring and reliable technique on forehand and backhand, serve, return and volleys. The class will use green ball for skill development with an introduction to yellow ball.

Shotokan Pre-Karate

Ages 4-7

Young children will develop flexibility, strength, and coordination in fun yet disciplined activities. This program is specifically designed for growing mind and bodies to enhance memory and agility.

Shotokan Karate

Ages 7+

Youth karate classes will put children in touch with their bodies and offers a good mix of strength training, with cardiovascular and flexibility exercises. Adults classes release tension, develop total body fitness, and build stamina and overall productivity! Parent/child classes are a great way to spend quality time with your child, while coordinating muscles, developing coordination, and improving cardiovascular fitness.

Ultimate Frisbee Clinic

Ages 8-18

The Park District is partnering with Chicago Union, an ultimate frisbee AUDL professional league team, for a half day clinic to learn basic rules and strategies, throwing and catching techniques, and offense and defense skills. Various activities will include throwing accuracy games, partner catching, and Randy Moss drills. Come ready to play rain or shine with running shoes and water.

Pickleball 101

Ages 18+

Pickleball is a paddle sport created for all ages and skill levels that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. The rules are simple, and the game is easy for beginners, but can develop into a quick, fast paced, competitive game for experienced players. Our instructor, a USAPA Pickleball National Champion, will teach participants the rules, strategy, and terminology as well as how to dink, volley, lob, and serve.

Kubb Instructional League

Ages 8+

The game of Kubb dates back to the Viking Age and is a traditional Nordic game great for singles, families, children, or people of all skill level. Also known as Viking Chess, Kubb is a lawn game where the objective is to knock over wooden blocks (dowels) by throwing wooden batons at them. The game is a combination of bowling and horseshoes, and the league will be instructional play covering game rules, set up, and strategy.

Pickleball Open Gym

Ages 18+ Tuesday & Friday, 1:00-4:00 pm, CC Gym

Join the exciting sport of pickleball during open gym hours this season! There is a $3 drop-in fee, or you may choose to purchase a 10-Punch Pass for $27. Some minimal equipment will be provided, but you’re encouraged to bring your own.

Fencing – Olympic Swordplay

Ages 8+

Want to wield a sword? Enjoy competitive fun safely without ‘fighting.’ We do not share equipment in this class, and fencing is inherently a social distanced sport! You must rent or own your equipment. Please speak with the fencing club at 630-678-0035 for your options. Additional family members can receive a 50% discount when registering together.

River City Lacrosse 2-1-2

Ages 9-14

2-1-2 is designed for the new to intermediate player. Participants will work through a series of drills designed to work on fundamentals, high rep stick work, positional development, and game understanding. Please bring a mouth guard and cleats. Rental equipment is included; a lacrosse stick is suggested.

Lil Laxers Lacrosse

Ages 5-8

Our focus is fun! This class is designed to introduce the game of lacrosse fundamentals. Participants will build a solid foundation, increase basic skills, and develop a passion for the game. Progressive drills and games will be played. No long term commitment or equipment is needed; a lacrosse stick is suggested.

Accelerators Running Club

Ages 6+

This club is both a developmental and competitive program meant to teach athletes about the structure of track and field. Athletes will have the opportunity to compete in several track meets. ATHLETICS All Star Sports

Jr. All Star All Sports

Ages 3-6

This class is for the all-around athlete who wants to take a shot at different sports! We will focus on a new sport each class, including baseball, football, floor hockey, soccer, basketball, and more! Learn the basic rules and mechanics all while we play games that keeps everyone moving. There’s no reason to pick a sport when you can play them all!

Jr. Soccer

Ages 3-6

Learn soccer the All Star way with drills hidden in fun games and association techniques that get down to the players level. Soccer is a game that is action packed! We will cover simple foot skills, dribbling, passing, shooting, basic rules, and work on spreading the field. Please bring a water bottle, shin guards, and size 4 soccer ball.

Jr. Parent Tot Sports

Ages 2-3

This program is a great opportunity for a parent and child to bond and have fun together while learning a variety of sports! Participants will improve simple motor skills such as catching, throwing, batting, shooting, passing, running, and hand-eye coordination. Sports played may include soccer, basketball, hockey, t-ball, and football.

Jr. Basketball

Ages 3-6

This instructional program teaches the basic skills of basketball while making sure all players stay active and engaged! We will work on dribbling with both hands, passing and shooting techniques, and understanding basic offense and defense techniques. As players learn the basic mechanics and build confidences, we’ll add larger challenges as we progress. Please bring a water bottle.

Jr. T-Ball

Ages 3-4

Mechanics and hand eye coordination are the keys to early success in t-ball! Players in this program will be more confident in this active class. We’ll work on the proper mechanics of catching, throwing, fielding, base running, and batting. Players will be moving and learning even when in the dugout! Please bring a water bottle and glove.

Basketball Skills

Ages 6-8

Individual skills and team play will be focused on in this program. Speed and agility drills will enhance each player’s ability to get up and down the quart quickly, generate rapid change of direction, and create explosion to the basket. Ball handling, proper shooting technique, footwork, and defensive/offensive strategies will be covered. Please bring a water bottle.

Soccer Skills

Ages 5-7

Improve your soccer game with speed and agility drills, allowing for more powerful shots, increased range on the field, and efficient change of direction. All basic skills of dribbling, shooting, passing, and spacing will be covered. Please bring shin guards, a size 4 soccer ball, and a water bottle.

Sportsmanship

Please remember that the players are just kids, officials are human, and coaches are volunteers. We like to cheer for everyone and have fun!

Track Star Skills

Ages 6-10

Increase speed and endurance while also bettering your running form. Participants will learn the basics of track and field, such as springing, distance running, high and long jump, and more! Games will be used to learn form and train.

Speed & Agility Skills

Ages 6-10

Perform at the top of your game! In this course we will cover acceleration, deceleration, core training, and endurance training.

Jr. Golf

Ages 5-7

Children will be introduced to the proper basic mechanics, know-how, and course etiquette at an early age. This class will include basic swing practice, understanding the clubs, safety rules, and playing a small sided course. Please bring a water bottle; if you have your own clubs, please bring them.

Spring Basketball League

Ages 6-8

This instructional league teaches skills such as ball handling, shooting, and passing. Plays and strategies are taught at the appropriate age level for easy comprehension and to ensure confidence. Teams will be formed, and each player will receive a team jersey and participation award. Please bring a water bottle.

T-Ball League

Ages 3-6

Throwing, fielding, base-running, and batting will be the focus of this introductory league. Every player will get the opportunity to play each position as the teams are kept small. Each player will receive a team hat, jersey, and trophy. Please bring your own glove and water bottle.

Soccer League

Ages 4-9

This is an instructional league where play will be stopped to focus on certain aspects of the game. Skills such as dribbling, shooting, and passing will be focused on while the players work on understanding the importance of movement within in the game.

Cheer & Tumbling

Cheer Lessons

Ages 4-7

This is a non-competitive class. Team members will learn facials, arm motions, vocals, jumps, flexibility, strength, tumbling, stunting, and poms. A pep assembly will be held the last day of class.

Tumbling – Level 1

Ages 5-9

This level one class is for the new tumbler to learn rolls, cartwheels, backbend, roundoffs, and extensions.

Dance

The goal of the Batavia Park District dance program is to help all dancers improve grace and flexibility while introducing them to the beauty and benefits of dance.

Teeny Tap & Ballet

Ages 3-4

This class will focus on the structure of tap and ballet while introducing teamwork. Fun songs and choreography are packed into this 45-minute class.

Tot Hip Hop

Ages 3-4

Does your little one love to bounce around to fun music? Here’s your chance to showcase all that enthusiasm. Tot Hip Hop will have your child dancing to hip and cool songs in a funky, exciting way.

Tiny Tap & Ballet

Ages 4-6

This class will focus on the basic structure of tap and ballet and progress into technique. Fun songs and choreography are packed into this 45-minute class.

Combo Production

Ages 6-9

Tap, ballet, and jazz/hip hop are all styles being covered in this class. Learn technique along with teamwork and confidence.

Wedding Dance Prep

Ages 21+

It’s wedding season! Get a crash course on some of the most popular wedding dance styles. Don’t be left standing on the sidelines while everyone else is on the dance floor. Great for singles and couples. No experience is necessary.

Adult Tap Dance

Ages 21+

Have fun learning basic tap technique, simple routines, and step combinations set to fun music. An intermediate class will cover more complex patterns and combinations to apply to fun routines. Tap shoes are required for the intermediate class and preferred for the beginner class.
