Young Rembrandts – Tree House Adventure
Ages 5-10
Magical, mythical, and marvelous art is coming your way! Students tap into their imagination, learn to draw other worldly creatures like fairies, trolls, and a forest queen.
Peg’s Drawing & Painting
Ages 5-10
Express yourself! Enjoy a variety of art mediums and techniques such as blending, shading, proportion, and color mixing. Be sure to pick up your basic supply list when you register. Students work at their own pace and receive individual instruction.
Magic Class
Ages 5-12
Children are guaranteed to have a great time as they learn a collection of fascinating and mesmerizing tricks! Amaze family and friends with tricks that involve cards, ropes, coins, mind-reading and more. While the tricks may appear difficult, you’ll discover that they are quick to learn and easy to perform. All materials are provided, and each child receives a magic kit to take home. Children are grouped by age and always learn tricks that are age-appropriate. Brand new tricks are taught each session!

Chess Scholars Camp
Ages 5-13
This camp is great for both beginners and experienced young players. All participants will learn new strategies with interactive teaching periods and guided practice time. There will also be a chess competition.
Checkmate Chess
Ages 5-12
Develop your child’s intellect through the fun game of chess! Current research has shown a strong link between chess and academic performance in a variety of areas, including mathematics and language arts. Chess has also been proven to enhance children’s motivation, concentration, focus, social skills, and creativity.
The Secrets, Scams, and Science of Theme Parks
Ages 5-13
Water parks, carnivals, amusement parks – such a fascinating industry to investigate! Is there science to winning carnival games or is it all luck? Then we’ll explore famous water slides and roller coasters to learn how science plays a part. Finally, learn the chemistry behind tasty treats at the traditional concession stand. Themed souvenirs are included.
The Benefits of Laughter – Kids Life Coaching Workshop
Ages 6-12
Learn the science behind April Fools’ Day and why people must laugh. Did you know that just one hearty laugh relieves stress for up to 45 minutes after? Laughing can also keep you fit! Kids will be immersed in an electrifying environment to simply laugh. With the mounds of pressure on kids today and technology pointing heads down, keeping laughter going is critical. Themed souvenir included!
Let’s Build It Robotics! – Mighty Machines
Ages 6-12
In this exciting STEAM program, students will design, build, and test their very own robots under the guidance of an experienced instructor. Projects include remote control cars, claws, cranes, crawlers, and battle bots. No previous experience is necessary; just a desire to have fun, build, and learn.
Horsemanship for Kids
Ages 9-17
Join in the fun at Dunham Woods Farm! Learn the proper ways to groom, tack, and handle horses. In the saddle, you will learn the basics of riding at the walk and trot. Please wear jeans or Jodhpur pants and hard soled riding or hiking boots with small, low heel. A riding or bicycle helmet is required.
Grades 5-6
Come enjoy games, sports, music, movies, dancing, food, and more! This is a great opportunity to hang out with old friends or meet new kids from other schools. Learning a second language can open a world of possibilities for your child. Embark on your Spanish language journey, learning conversation and some grammar, reading, and writing skills through interactive, engaging, and fun activities.
Race Car Engineering Academy
Ages 7-12
Using STEM concepts, learn what makes a race car run, from gear ratios, motors, and servos, to steering mechanics, breaking and more. Configure, design, and drive a radio-controlled race car to see these concepts in action. Instructor will have details on local competition.
Lego Robotics Academy
Ages 7-12
Learn to design, build, and program robots using a creative educational approach that utilizes STEM concepts. This repeatable class groups students by skill level and introduces more advanced concepts and activities as they progress.

Broadway Minis – The Little Mermaid
Ages 4-6
Journey ‘Under the Sea’ with Ariel and her aquatic friends in our Little Mermaid workshop. Sing and dance to some of your favorite songs. Students will learn the basics of performance.
Broadway Minis – Winnie the Pooh Kids
Ages 4-6
Take a trip through the Hundred Acre Wood with Winnie the Pooh Bear and all his beloved friends! Come sing and dance to favorite songs while learning the basics of performance through theatre games and acting exercises.
Broadway Kids – Hairspray
Ages 7-11
Come bop, groove, and jam to the songs of the 60’s in this fun workshop! Prepare a scene and sing and dance to songs like “You Can’t Stop the Beat” and more.
Broadway Kids – Shrek Jr.
Ages 7-11
Find your story through this fairytale of a workshop! Come sing, act, and dance to hit songs from the Broadway musical like “Story of My Life” and “Freak Flag.” There will be a showcase on the last day of class for family and friends.
Broadway Kids – Newsies
Ages 7-11
Seize the day as a young performer, and learn all the tools of the trade in acting, singing, and dance! This workshop features toe-tapping songs from the hit Broadway musical like “Seize the Day” and “Carrying the Banner.”
Broadway Kids – Suessical Jr.
Ages 7-11
Flip through some of your favorite pages of Dr. Seuss’s world in this crazy colorful workshop! Young performers will learn skills that will help sharpen their skills in acting, singing, and dance. Perform hit songs from the Broadway musical like “Oh, The Thinks You Can Think!”
Broadway Players – Mean Girls
Ages 12+
Will you sit with us? This workshop will feature hit songs from the new Broadway musical like “I’d Rather Be Me” and “Meet the Plastics.” Come sharpen your skills in acting, singing, and dance in this pink-ified workshop!

Ages 12+
“Join Us” in this magical workshop about a traveling show and a boy with big dreams! Sing and dance through Broadway hits like “Magic to Do” and sharpen your skills in all areas of musical theatre.
Musical Theatre Production – Moana Jr.
Ages 8-16
Disney’s Moana Jr. is a 60-minute musical based on the 2016 Disney animated movie about the strong-willed daughter of the chief of a Polynesian village who is chosen by the ocean itself to reunite a mystical relic with a goddess.
Musical Theatre Production – Matilda Jr.
Ages 8-16
This story of a girl who dreams of a better life and the children she inspires will have audiences rooting for the ‘revolting children’ who are out to teach the grown-ups a lesson. Matilda has astonishing wit, intelligence, and special powers!

Join us for this big, iconic action turning off the lights! Show love for the Earth by powering down the lights and electronics. Enjoy time outdoors with others in a way that doesn’t use energy. Solar-powered lanterns will light the trail for this unique time of exploring the outdoors at night! Campfire included!
Habitat Clean Up
All Ages w/Adult
Gather your friends and family to clean up our environment at Red Oak Nature Center and Lippold Park. We will provide all supplies for you to pick up garbage on our trails, along the river, and wherever else you see it! This is a great opportunity to get some of your service or volunteer hours completed. Come for all or part of the time.
Cave Hike
All Ages w/Adult
Join us on a naturalist-led hike to the only cave in the Chicagoland region! Along the way, our staff will stop to point out areas of interest and signs of the season. Dress for the weather; we hike rain or shine!
Campfire & S’mores!
All Ages w/Adult
Gather around the campfire and listen to legends and lore as you enjoy roasting your marshmallows! A registered adult must accompany all children.
Bookworm Wednesdays
Ages 2-5 w/Adult
Come to the nature center and listen to an exciting nature-themed story! Each meeting will feature a different book and simple craft and may even include a short hike or a special animal visitor. Each registered child will receive a plush reading buddy to take home at the end of each session. Adults must attend with their child but do not need to register.

Spring brings new life in the forest, giving us so much to discover! Each class meeting, we will head outside for a short hike to see what new and wonderful changes our environment has to show us, and then we will head back inside to create a piece of art to share. Dress for being outside and getting messy.
Family BINGO Night
Ages 5+ w/Adult
Join us for an evening of games and laughter as we play the classic game for prizes! All attendees MUST register and pay. Each person will receive one BINGO card, markers, and a popcorn snack. Additional cards are available for a small fee. All children must be accompanied by a registered adult.
Makerspace at Home Challenge
Ages 5+
Makerspace is coming into your home with our monthly challenges! Kits will be available to pick up on Friday or Saturday. Registrants will get one week to design, create, and complete their projects before submitting a photo or video evidence of their final masterpieces for placement awards! All projects can be done as a family or individually. Submissions and questions should be emailed to roprograms@fvpd.net.

The Wild Ones Social Club
Ages 11-14
Socialize, investigate, play, hike, and more. Hang out with like-minded individuals all while enjoying the great outdoors. The club meets twice a month, and activities may include offsite field trips and opportunities for service hours and volunteer projects. For more information please email roprograms@fvpd.net.
