As you are reading this, summer is winding down, and we are rolling into the next school year. We are looking at an exceptional fall! We have enjoyed having all the kids at Summer Camp and the families at the pool and summer events.

Don’t forget! Come by Woodland Trails Park on Labor Day, September 5, for our Old Fashioned Picnic in the Park event and Trusty the Turtle Race. It’s also the official last day the pool is open! We have moved our Foundation fundraiser, Closest to the Pin, to our Labor Day line-up, so that is one more activity to enjoy that day. We hope we see you there!

The improved Aspen Trails Park playground, tennis, and basketball courts are available for use! The official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony with the Village of Mount Prospect will be on August 31, 2022, at 11 am.

Upcoming Projects: River Trails Park District was awarded an Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) grant administered by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources in the amount of $400,000 for the redevelopment of Willow Trails Park. Governor JB Pritzker announced $30.3 million in grants for 87 local park projects to help communities acquire open space and develop and improve recreational facilities throughout Illinois. We are excited to be a part of it and will continue to keep the community updated on development plans.

Staff is working on developing plans for improvements at Rob Roy Golf Course, The Zone as well as Weiss Community Center. We are also finishing up the design for Tamarack Trails Park Master Plan; It’s a busy time for the district!

These are exciting times for all of us! The River Trails Park District serves both the Prospect Heights and Mount Prospect communities. Stay up to date on all

our offerings and future fun events by following us on Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook.
