ONCE UPON A TIME there was a Parade themed “Fairy Tales Afloat.” Children and adults will watch in awe as storybook characters come to life along the 12 miles of glistening waterway in South Florida. Kayaks, fishing boats, and Mega Yachts will be draped in childhood favorites with princesses, kings, mermaids, flying carpets, frogs and a fire-breathing dragon. Get ready to relive the world of magic and wonder at the 2015 Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest® Boat Parade! Winterfest® is a 501(c) 4 not-for-profit organization which functions through the generous support of our partners, especially our title sponsor - Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Without these great organizations and individuals, we could not put together an event of this magnitude. Considered “The World’s Most Watched Boat Parade,” Winterfest® is the most attended event in Florida and the seventh most attended event in the country. The Parade route starts at Fort Lauderdale’s historic Stranahan House and navigates into Pompano Beach. Over 1 million attendees watch the Parade via land, water, and air. For 44 years, we have enchanted Fort Lauderdale with lights, music and holiday cheer. The cast of characters behind the Parade is a dynamic board of 50 individuals dedicated to this community event, more than 300 volunteers, private boaters, interns and devoted permanent staff of three, who work behind the Wizard of Winterfest curtain to bring the parade to life. With every great Parade there are celebrities. This year, American rapper, actor, comedian, television and radio host, and producer, Nick Cannon will take the bow aboard the Grand Marshal Showboat brought to you by JM Lexus. The mega yacht, Grand Floridian will be Nick’s throne as he heralds the other floats on December 12th.
If you are a resident of South Florida, help support one of the world’s most recognized events, which recently won four awards at the International Festival and Events Association’s annual conference. We invite you to participate by entering your boat (starting at $35), attending our events and voting in our contests – you are working with Winterfest organizers to keep this Parade available for millions to see in December locally and throughout the world. The Parade is our signature event but we have many more offerings for all ages. Visit our website for more details on all of our incredible events throughout the season and learn how to purchase tickets or become a sponsor. Once again, we would love to thank our friends and sponsors for their continued support to make Winterfest® a reality each year. Please take a moment to recognize the sponsors within the Winterfest® celebration and thank them for their involvement in making the “Greatest Show on H2O” a reality. AND a big bag of pixie dust wishes to YOU – our Winterfest friends and family for all of your support as we enjoy another year of this internationally acclaimed South Florida holiday tradition.
Happy Holidays! See you at the Parade. James Dunn
