2023 South Carolina Hereford Association Hall of Fame and Sale Dedication

Earl Bradford Forrest was born May 16, 1951, the oldest of five to Earl and Marie Forrest. Raised in Saluda, South Carolina, Brad grew up around multiple family businesses. These included the family farm operation, which consisted of raising cattle and crops, and a retail clothing store known as C.B. Forrest & Son in downtown Saluda. With his work ethic and willingness to adapt to lots of change over the years, these ventures are still thriving today.

and hunting wear can all be found in one location. A very large selection from top manufacturers is available. Another business site was founded in 1985 in Cayce, South Carolina, known today as C.B. Forrest Workwear. They offer a large selection of work boots, safety shoes, and heavy-duty work wear. From the location in Cayce Brad operates a mobile shoe trailer which visits industrial sites across the state marketing C. B. Forrest & Son inventory. In October, C.B. Forrest & Son in Saluda celebrated 100 years of business, a true testament to the store.

Forrest Polled Herefords began in the 1940’s when his father Earl, purchased his first Polled Hereford from Clemson University. This purchase began what would become a lifelong passion and a source of much pleasure. As Brad grew up and finished his education, he became a partner with his Dad in the farm and store businesses. In the 1980’s the crop operation came to an end so that more focus could be applied to the cowherd. From this point an extensive AI program was put in place for genetic improvement and moving the herd forward. Now, for many years he has also implemented an embryo transfer program which has allowed him a to take advantage of genetics from some of his top producing cows. He has always prided himself to never stop improving, year after year, and to always make strides to make Polled Herefords the best they can be. Since 1990, Forrest Polled Herefords has held a biennial sale on the 4th Saturday of September.

After completing his education at Newberry College, Brad returned to work in the store and became a partner with his father in the business. C.B. Forrest & Son sells men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing and footwear. They specialize in a very wide range of clothing, dress wear, casual wear, work wear

Now, if you asked Brad how he credits his success and accomplishments in life, it would be one simple answer, God. He has a strong faith which has always come first. Brad has always been a faithful servant to Saluda Baptist Church, from teaching Sunday school at the nursing home, serving as a deacon, and numerous other committees. He has always been a strong leader in the church and has been a great mentor for many, including his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Brad is married to his high school sweetheart, Lynette, who were wed on June 24, 1973. They have two sons Will and Jeff, two daughters in law Melinda and Jeanette, and five grandchildren Cade, Ava, Finley, Kempson, and Kason. One of his favorite things to do is spending time with his family and taking trips together.
