For years, Cancun has been the preferred getaway for East Coast Americans (particularly Floridians) who want an international getaway that’s still close to home. But despite the droves of tourists, the area has managed to keep the charm that attracted people in the first place.
The city is known mostly for its luxury hotels, wild nightlife and warm beaches. Definitely indulge in all of these — as well as the Mexican food! — but also consider other activities like visiting Mayan ruins, swimming in cenotes and snorkeling. One thing is certain: You won’t run out of things to do in Cancun.

What to shop for in Cancun:

Splurge on 5th Avenue
Less than an hour down the coast from Cancun is the shopping mecca of Quinta Avenida, or 5th Avenue, in Playa del Carmen. This predominantly pedestrian walkway consists of approximately 22 blocks of retail therapy starting at the Cozumel Ferry Pier and Playacar Palace running through the town center, and beyond.
You will be sure to find all your shopping desires met, from local wants to mall favorites.There is a wealth of other activities to enjoy as you shop 5th Avenue.
Restaurants and bars add to the fun. After a day of shopping, dance the night away at a nightclub open until dawn. Stop at the aquarium in Plaza Corazon to all local marine life. There is even a small Mayan ruin to see between 12th and 14th Street. You can buy souvaniers like the pictures provided for family and friends.

Amalfi Coast, Italy

Set in the Sorrentina Peninsula, the Amalfi Coasthas long been renowned for its natural beauty and idyllic coastal towns. During the golden age of Hollywood, it was a preferred vacation spot for glamorous movie stars.
Days here are spent eating Italian food, drinking wine and walking around colorful cobblestone streets. You can also expect to drink copious amounts of wine as you look out into the Mediterranean Sea.
The best way to see the coast is to rent a car.
The Amalfi Coast is a 50-kilometer stretch of coastline along the southern edge of Italy’s Sorrentine Peninsula, in the Campania region. It’s a popular holiday destination, with sheer cliffs and a rugged shoreline dotted with small beaches and pastel-colored fishing villages. The coastal road between the port city of Salerno and clifftop Sorrento winds past grand villas, terraced vineyards and cliffside lemon groves.

Christopher Chen: I’m in San Francisco righhe Outer Sunset District, which is also which also happens to be the setting of The Headlands. So I’m living inside the play right now.
LY: What is it like outside? The weather reports are making nationa news.
CC: The winds are huge. A while ago, the wind was pretty scary.
LY: San Francisco weather mak`12es me think about noir. There’s a certain feel to San Francisco—the air and the weather feel different than other places.
CC: There really is. Obviously, there’s the fog. And the hills—you can see the fog banks from the hills, or the hills can hide things, just like the fog does. All the little neighborhoods have their own little mysteries going on inside. San Francisco is such a noirish city, especially the Sunset District, with all its kind-of-but-not-really-uniform, suburban-like Eisenhower 1950s houses side by side. It’s a bit mysterious, a bit desolate.

What’s unique about Niagara?
I grew up in Lockport, N.Y., where the name speaks for itself. Lockport is home to the only double set of working Locks on the historic Erie Canal. Less than 20 miles from Niagara Falls, visitors check seeing this Wonder of the World off their bucket list and then travel to Lockport where they can take in the charm and renaissance of a 150-year old city.
What are the top three things a visitor should do in Niagara?
Ride the Maid of the Mist, travel through the double set of working locks on the Erie Canal at Lockport Locks & Underground Boat Ride, and dine at one of our farm-to-table restaurants (we have 800 farms in Niagara County).

Carmelo’s in Lewiston, N.Y. is a culinary treasure. Farm-totable, seasonal, and cozy, there are always new flavors to try (even at the bar). The entire staff has trained palates to explain the ever-changing menu, and if you’re lucky, Carmelo may come out from the kitchen and speak with patrons.
Where is the best shopping?
The Main Streets in Lewiston and Lockport are lined with individually-owned clothing boutiques and furniture stores. The entire county is also dotted with antique shops, which can be a treasure hunt.

Orange Cat Coffee Co. in Lewiston, N.Y. is a hub of activity. Grab a cup of coffee or visit for lunch, and catch up on the latest news and gossip.

Located mostly in Wyoming as well as Montana and Idaho, Yellowstone is America’s first national park and remains one of the most popular in the country, welcoming more than around 3.8 million people last year. With unpredictable geysers, rainbow-colored hot springs, craggy peaks, shimmering lakes and tons of wildlife — from elk to boars to bison — it’s easy to see why so many people flock here.
The park makes for an awesome family trip and is well-suited to budget travelers since it offers so many campsites (over 2,000!).
The best months to visit Yellowstone are April, September, and October. These “off season” months provide more chances to catch a glimpse of the local wildlife and enjoy thinner crowds. Bears emerge from hibernation between March and April, migrating birds arrive just before May, and the elk rut begins mid-September.

With its picturesque blue-domed churches, whitewashed buildings and colorful beaches, the island of Santorini is a photographer’s paradise. If you want to snap photos to post to Instagram and make everyone back home jealous, this is the place to go.
