BOOK of the Month
Remember Triple Zero Heroes by
J.E. Miller
This story of mateship and courage is familiar to Julie Miller, SES team leader and author of new children's book Remember Triple Zero Heroes, the second in the successful Remember series. The novel explores the work of firefighters, police officers, paramedics, SES volunteers, and more.
Hawkeye Publishing Director and former volunteer firefighter Carolyn Martinez is thrilled that Remember Triple Zero Heroes recently shortlisted in Speech Pathology Australia’s Book of the Year award in the 8 – 10 year age category.
Queensland Police Service Commissioner and ambassador of Remember Triple Zero Heroes Katarina Carroll said that the story resonates with her experience as a child who dreamed of being a police officer. The story uses a symbol of shoes throughout to convey its message – it encourages readers to step into the emergency responder's shoes, appreciate that heroes come in many forms and types of shoes, and inspire children to think about how they can be heroes too and follow in their footsteps.
‘That's the nicest part about the book," the Police Commissioner said."I chose my policing shoes very early in life, so it rings true,’ Katarina Carroll said.
