W RAP O LO G Y, LO NDO N Junior artworker and packaging designer. Professional placement. July 2018 - July 2019. Clients include but are not limited to: Harrods, Fortnum & Mason, Clarins, Jo Loves and Creed. Packaging Artworker • Communication with various clients from high-end brands, to determine exact design specifications. • Nets created on Adobe Illustrator, specifying dimensions, materials, pantones, finishes and graphics. • Communicating a final artwork to the China team, so packaging can be mass manufactured. Structural Designer • Structural designs for general packaging projects such as perfume and advent calendars for beauty and grocery sectors. • Research into designs on the market to determine competitors. • Implementing research insight into design interventions for projects including advent calendars. • Responding to feedback when presenting ideas to both clients and the team. • Prototyping structural concepts using the Zund cutter and then testing these with the clients. • Artwork design and quality assurance ready for manufacture. Promotional Products and Graphic Designer • Utilising Adobe Illustrator to design mail-outs to send to clients. • Exploring colour combinations, fonts and graphics on packaging, such as the beauty advent calendars for demonstration models to show to clients. • Researching and sampling paper, foils and other materials to use for promotional products. 3D Model Maker • Rapid prototyping of white and coloured packaging samples to send to clients. • Manufacturing prototypes in the initial concept stage to test and develop designs. • A range of box styles including shoulder, magnetic close, hinge and collapsible. Also prototypes for the advent calendars and paper bags.

Quality Control • Ensuring that pre production samples and final production samples match the finalised artwork by: 1. Measuring overall dimensions of samples - internal and external. 2. Checking that logos and graphics are positioned correctly and set to stated dimensions. 3. Ensuring that materials and finishes chosen match the design specification. 4. Comparing foil samples to the foil used on the product to ensure both match. • Communicating quality inaccuracies to the China team, so that the sample is manufactured correctly. Graphic design for commercial packaging, working on a range of projects including the graphic design for a chilli pepper sauce. Researching companies and understading brands to produce graphics that implement the brand’s image. Creating mood boards for design inspiration and selecting colour palettes to set moods and themes. Assisting the photographer on shoots for well-known brands and working closely with the stylist. Working alongside the stylist to select backgrounds and props to set a scene, prior to the shoot. Communication with clients on set, to gain greater understanding of their brand’s requirements.
