Wooden Frames

Frames are constructed from solid ‘clear wood’ Radiata. managed, plantation-grown trees.

The timber is sourced from sustainably

All timber carries FSC-certification for sustainable forest management. The timber is preservative-treated (H3.1) for superior exterior durability. Cushions

Cushion covers are made from Sunbrella brand fabric which offers unsurpassed durability, while remaining soft and comfortable. Sunbrella is a breathable fabric that is highly resistant to water, marking and fading. Sunbrella will not promote mould or mildew, so long as it is kept relatively free of dirt.

Foam

We use quick-dry reticulated foam – hitherto found almost exclusively on superyachts - which ensures that the cushions will not retain water when left out in the rain. After a rain shower, the cushions will dry very quickly in the sun. After heavy or prolonged rain, we recommend that you allow cushions to dry and air by standing them on their end - zip downwards.

Durability

The Off-the-Hook collection is designed to withstand prolonged exposure to the elements while continuing to look superb. Actual long-term durability will naturally be affected by external factors including climate (temperate/tropical), location (coastal/inland) and position (exposed/under cover). No material is totally immune from the affects of long-term exposure, but in all cases, the life of your Cayo furniture will be greatly prolonged with regular cleaning and light maintenance.

Care and Maintenance

• • • •

Keep cushions and frames clean and free from debris (such as falling leaves)– in most cases you will need little more than a brush, a damp cloth and/or a hose; Wipe up spills on the cushions or frames as soon as they occur; After heavy or prolonged rain, allow cushions to dry and air by standing them on their end with the zip open; Frames should be washed with soap and water about every three months. Using a specialist marine or automotive soap will help to remove harmful contaminants and restore the finish.

Cushion covers can be removed for machine washing. After washing, the covers should be re-sprayed with 303 fabric-guard; If possible, keep cushions and frames under cover if they are to be unused for any length of time (e.g. over the winter); We recommend the application of a synthetic wax/sealant on all exposed horizontal surfaces of the frames after washing. This will help to protect the frames from UV and contaminants and increase the water-repellency of the finish. Synthetic waxes/sealants (e.g. Turtle Wax, Mothers or Meguiars) are available from most automotive stores, chandleries and hardware stores.

Touch up any damage to painted surfaces as soon as possible; Painted surfaces can be re-painted, after a light sanding; Damaged parts can be removed for painting, repair or replacement.

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit organisation, established to promote the responsible management of the world’s forests.

Preservative

All timber is preservative treated for use in the outdoor environment to H3.1 building standard. It is an LOSP (light organic solvent preservative) Vacsol treatment with pyrethrum as its active ingredient.

Painted Finish

The paint system has been developed by Resene to provide a durable coating for the furniture. The paint system comprises: • Alkyd wood primer to lock the preservation treatment into the timber; • Water based QuickDry primer undercoat; • Water based Lustacryl Enamel topcoat for a superior, hard wearing, exterior finish. Colour: Resene Quarter Sisal (Y88-021-084/RGB 228 218 196) Resene is ‘Environmental Choice’ accredited in both New Zealand and Australia. Environment Choice is a programme endorsed by the New Zealand Ministry of the Environment and a member of the Global Ecolabelling Network (GEN).

Cushion Foam

Reticulated polyether urethane foam from QuickDryFoam. Reticulated foam has large, open pores which drain quickly and allow air to circulate. QuickDryFoam features UREGUARD antimicrobial protection which inhibits the growth of mould or fungus.

Fabric

Sunbrella Brand Furniture Fabric. Sunbrella is a solution-dyed acrylic specifically developed of exterior use. Sunbrella fabrics are highly water repellent, but breathable. Solution-dyed fibres are highly resistant to fading. Sunbrella’s unique colouring process avoids harmful effluents associated with conventional dyeing processes. It also dramatically reduces water and energy consumption. Sunbrella fabrics are engineered for a serviceable lifespan two to ten times longer than conventional fabrics. The impact of producing cotton canvas, for example, must be multiplied many times to compare it with Sunbrella's extended longevity.
